Paid search impact on Organic Search traffic - Is it in the positive side or negative side?

Recently came across an article stating that Paid search may affect traffic through Organic search.
Did anyone have similar experience?

John is spot on. The other factor to consider is personalization. When people are in a research mode and visit your site via paid search, they are more likely to have a personalized organic result for your site since they've already visited it. On long sales cycle transactions, this can be a very significant factor!

People will see your ads, and then go to your site, or search for it to find more information. In Adwords, for display campaigns, Google will show you "view-through conversions", which occur when someone sees your ad and didn't click it, but went to your site and converted. This happens (at least for us) more often that I would have expected. For some of our campaigns, almost 1/3 of our conversions are view-through conversions. Google doesn't track this for search ads, but yes, just having your name out there on ads will get people to look at your site, or remember it and search for it later.
It's not getting a boost from the search engine just because you buy their ads... it's because people will remember seeing your ads and then go and search for your site.

Massive unexplained organic traffic drop; disappeared from Google

Our site has experienced a huge organic traffic drop, specifically from Google. The drop occurred on Feb 19 and I've got no clue why it happened. We have not made any significant changes to the website and it doesn't look like there was an algorithm update last week. We don't have any Google penalties or indexing issues noted, and the drop isn't specific to any particular segment/region/keyword. What am I missing? Any advice or insight is super duper appreciated. Dark Traffic & Long URLs - Clarification
Hi everyone, I've been reading the 2017 report by Groupon and the 2017 article by Neil Patel r.e. dark traffic. Both of these articles work on the assumption that most long URLs are not direct traffic because people wouldn't type a long URL into their browser. However, what happens to me personally all the time is that I start typing a URL into the browser, and the browser brings up a list of pages I've visited recently, and I click on some super long URL that I didn't bookmark but have visited in the past. That is legitimate direct traffic, but it's a long URL. I'm just wondering if there's something flawed in my reasoning or in the reasoning of Patel and Groupon. Maybe most people aren't relying on browsers like I am, or maybe things have changed a lot in the past 3 years. What do you think? What would the US traffic increase be for a website YoY if all Google SERP rankings remained the same?
This question has come up a few times with some of our clients and I've spent some time researching this question, but I can't find an answer online so hopefully, someone at MOZ has this data available to them with all the data they collect. The data points that would be needed to answer this question off the top of my head: Increase in the # of Google Searches in the US YoY The decrease in CTR for organic results "10 blue links" which take a searcher off of Google YoY, as Google continues to keep more searchers on Google.com with rich snippets, increased AdWords prominence, AdWords extensions, etc I'm sure this greatly varies per industry, but an average for all industries is all that is needed to answer this client question. Diganosing Traffic Drop
With Spring Break and seasonality in play right now I'm curious about techniques for separating/diagnosing temporary drops in interest due to user behavior in a category from other things like drop in ranking or similar. How quickly can you tell these apart? Analytics will be delayed a few days for instance, other tools take time to update. What should we be looking for and when to say "ok, this too shall pass" as opposed to "did we make a bad site update" or something similar. Any tips?

Getting People to Leave Product Reviews, When they've reached our site in search of reviews
We have a product review website that has been showing a steady increase in organic traffic. However we seem to be having a disconnect between what happens when a visitor arrives. We essentially want a visitor coming to our website in search of a review, to LEAVE a review for another product they may have used... Any suggestions on ways we might encourage this? We are kind of newbies at this!

Keyword order on location searches
If someone is trying to find a service in a certain area they might use Google to search for "London plumber", "Plumber London" or "Plumber in London". Is there any research to show which of these tends to be used most, or are they all roughly the same? Thanks!

How do I start to target a national audiences? I currently get most of my hits from The US and Australia? But I see no reason why I don't get vies in Canada and The UK.

Local search advice?
Some sites i promote limit their services to 50 miles around their location how best is it to optimise their websites. Currently they don't rank very well for non localised search terms but they do very well for term which include their local area. is this something they should be concerned about? Any tips and advice on optimising for local search are greatly appreciated. thanks
