Keyword phrase for entire site
-
Hey everyone!
I'm fairly new to SEO but I have a large number of sites I'm needing to SEO. I'm a tad confused as to how many keyword phrases I should use throughout my site. For example, my site is www.uluru.travel. I want to rank highlight for the phrase 'uluru tours' throughout the site, as many of my pages list uluru tours and people searching for this phrase are my type of customers. As you can see I've tried to do some basic on page SEO for that phrase by including it in page title, headings etc. But the entire site doesn't seem to rank very well.
Would you guys suggest trying to target 'uluru tours' phrase throughout the entire site of just focus a couple of pages on this term?
Any advice is greatly appreciated guys!
Cheers

Hi Lehia!
Something I recommend all the time is to read through Cyrus Shepard's "Keywords to Concepts," which covers topical keyword research. It might help you to understand how best to think about your keyword targeting.

Hey Moosa, thanks for your advice! I will get onto creating unique tags for each page as mentioned.

Hey Alick,
Thanks for your tips. I didn't realise this would be a problem...how wrong I was! I have a page called '3 Day Uluru Tours'...would it be a problem to call it this considering it includes the keyword phrase 'uluru tours', or does adding '3 day' to the front create a long tail that will be unique enough?

As far as my understanding goes about SEO the way you are targeting the keywords on your pages is not the correct approach. My advice is to list down all the keywords head and long tail keywords and then map the keywords on different part of the website accordingly.
I usually target one to two keywords per page and then set the page content accordingly. Once done you will have a clear idea if what pages to target against which page when building quality links back to your website.
It is best to hire a SEO Consultant that can help you with these issues and help you get better visibility in search engine form the keywords that you ideally want to target. If you go with this approach you might not be able to outrank your competitors.
Hope this helps!

Hi Lehia,
I have checked your website and I found that you are doing on page terribly wrong, you cannot use same meta title/same keyword on two different URL.
Home page meta title and Uluru tours (http://www.uluru.travel/uluru-tours/) have almost same meta title.
You should target 'Uluru tours' for one URL only so it is better to target for URL - http://www.uluru.travel/uluru-tours/
First I would like to advice you to first go through SEO basic so you can understand things very well then you can implement on your website .
Here is one of the best SEO tutorial for beginners @ https://moz.com/beginners-guide-to-seo
Hope this helps.
Thanks

Hyphens in Keyword
Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone had any experience of whether Google treats keywords with hyphens differently. One of my websites main keywords is 'buy to let', however all across our website it is referred to as 'buy-to-let'. People always search without the hyphens. I recently heard that Google may only treat us as a highly relevant match and not an exact match for this keyword. I was wondering if anyone had any experience of this, and what is the best course of action to take. Thanks

Seo for international sites
Hello, I have a question for the group, our main US site- http://www.datacard.com is utilized to move content to other regional sites like http://www.datacard.co.uk/ and http://www.datacard.fr/ and http://www.datacard.com.br/. Anyhow, we essentially have some regional content on those sites, but for ease of maintaining and updating the content we have a company translate this for us and then undergo an in country review for local people in our company to review the content. That being said the meta descriptions, titles, code, everything gets translated to that language. I know there are issue for SEO for these purposes as we get much better rankings with http://www.datacard.com. The regional sites are newer so this could be part of it. We don't have an agency helping us with SEo and i get a lot of questions on what can be done internally for this for regional sites with our current structure. Any tips you have? It would be greatly appreciated! Laura

When I try creating a sitemap, it doesnt crawl my entire site.
We just launched a new Ruby app at (used to be a wordpress blog) - http://www.thesquarefoot.com We have not had time to create an auto-generated sitemap, so I went to a few different websites with free sitemap generation tools. Most of them index up to 100 or 500 URLS. Our site has over 1,000 individual listings and 3 landing pages, so when I put our URL into a sitemap creator, it should be finding all of these pages. However, that is not happening, only 4 pages seem to be seen by the crawlers. TheSquareFoothttp://www.thesquarefoot.com/http://www.thesquarefoot.com/users/sign_inhttp://www.thesquarefoot.com/searchhttp://www.thesquarefoot.com/renters/sign_upThis worries me that when Google comes to crawl our site, these are the only pages it will see as well. Our robots.txt is blank, so there should be nothing stopping the crawlers from going through the entire site. Here is an example of one of the 1,000s of pages not being crawled****http://www.thesquarefoot.com/listings/Houston/TX/77098/Central_Houston/3910_Kirby_Dr/Suite_204Any help would be much appreciated!

Site comparison - what is wrong with me?
www.bcspeakers.com/ vs www.psbspeakers.com/ with the search term "speakers" why does BC speakers show up in around #50-60 and PSB is not in the top #1000? From all metrics on seomoz PSB kicks BC in every area by a large margine! can anyone see why BC is listed for that keyword and PSB is not?

Questions about turning my wordpress site into an ecommerce site. Experience needed.
I have a wordpress site that is about a product that is now getting some great traffic. Right now It has affiliate stuff on it. I want to sell my own product so I will be turning this wordpress site into an ecommerce site. I want to redesign it so I am not looking for simple plugins to just add a cart. The part I am really confused about is what to do with my posts and categories? How does that work when turning this site into an ecommerce site? Lets say the site is "hats for adults" My post pages are things like "funny hats for adults", "hats for adult men" etc etc. Would I turn these posts pages into like category pages that have a category of products. Or should I create real categories and have my developer turn those into the ecommerce category pages and then redirect my posts to those categories? Maybe I don't even know what I am talking about. Is this even making sense? This is a small site (5posts and 1 category) and most of the traffic will come from the homepage keywords anyways.
