Decrement in Domain Authority
-
Hi,
We are a bit confused. Recently we saw a drop in Domain Authority Our organic search is increased but DA decreased By 1 what cause in decrements of DA?
We made all the changes suggested by MOZ for improving Domain Authority. We are confused because our organic search is increased but Domain Authority Goes Down. What should we do to improve domain authority? -
This is a great answer. PA and DA are relativistic measures, meaning they are relative to other sites in the index. If Facebook went out and doubled their links relative to everyone else, your DA might go down, but in reality your site is still just as strong as ever. As Tim describes, you should be most concerned about your scores relative to your competitors. As long as you are keeping pace or gaining, you should be fine.

Hey Torbett,
Sometimes you will see the DA drop a little for your domain, but in many cases this is nothing to worry about. It could simply be due to the overall index size changing and that has an effect not only to yourself, but all of those around you.
Have you set up some monitoring for your competitors, if they too have also seen a relative drop, then you do not need to worry too much. Just keep on doing what you are doing and improving your site and you won't go too far wrong.

The mozscape index has been reduced on a couple of occasions - so on occasions Moz decreases the number of url's it indexes, so in short not all url's are always indexed.
I assume that it would be close to impossible to index all url's in one go but over time, Moz covers them all, it might just take a few crawls. So the phenomena you are suffering is nothing new BUT most importantly nothing to worry about. The update page is a great place to reference for a comparison of index size to previous indexes. see https://moz.com/products/api/updates Real possibility that your drop in DA relates to the size of the index or even the pages crawled. So you may gets some dips and troughs before it settles in. I have added some great backlinks to sites and then the DA drops - same as you - 1 or 2 indexes later and it jumps up. But all the time we were trending better than competitors.
Most importantly check competitors' trends as well. Domain Authority is a relative so if your traffic is going up, and page rank then it does not matter if your DA is going down.
So to improve DA as long as you are trending positively against your competitors and organic traffic growing. - continue doing what you are doing - it is working. The next few updates will fix the DA up.
Hope that assists.

Is it better to shorten my existing url to use only keyword after domain with a 301 redirect from existing url
I have a long existing URL that has included my key word but the url has about 5 additional words in the text ( eg url would have " /super widgets in stock at the widget store " as url text after domain. keywords is super widget The URL was at the top of search results for my keyword for many years until recently. Is it better to shorten my url text to now use only my keyword " /super-widgets " after the domain with a 301 direct from my existing url to optimize it Thanks

One question about the domain choice.
Hi guys, I'm an Italian Web marketing and I'm studying SEO since some moths. First, sorry for my bad english.... 🙂 Second, the question: My Italian blog is going really GREAT in terms of popularity and incomes and know I want to bring it in english language with the help of a professional translator. The choice that I have to take is about the future domain of the english blog. My Italian blog has as url mynameandmysurname.net I don't really like to make the english blog appears like myitalianblogurl.net/english because I think it's a little bit confusing and not professional. I have also thought the idea to make a sub domain like blog.myitalianurl.net. What about the WPML plugin? Do you think it's a great choice? I don't like it because it's confusing and it affect my italian blog. Or maybe is it better to create a new branded blog with different domain? It can be an idea but I think that If I chose this way I will lose all my seo efforts of the last years 😄

Duplicate biographies across several domains?
Hey Gang, We've built a niche specific, manually edited legal community that is full of unique content. (While it's ultimately a directory, and that is often viewed as a bad word in these times, ours is a curated source that doesn't allow anyone and everyone to join.) We feel comfortable that it passes the sniff test post-panda/penguin, etc., and its doing rather well to date. The question we have is do we really need to create unique biographies for each of our legal members? Some of our competitors simply use the same bio information that the lawyer has on their own website and copies that to their site. The competitors I'm talking about are LARGE, well-respected, extremely successful folks, like FindLaw. Here's an example: Lawyer's website bio FindLaw website bio Both rank, etc., and the FindLaw code doesn't place any restrictions on their content regarding the bio., and it's an obvious exact match. I get that duplicate content is primarily a concern among one's own URL and the pages across a specific domain, using rel-canonical, etc., but what about two different domains that need to supply factual information that can't be altered? Is it anything we should worry ourselves with? Any tags we should insert in our code with regard to the bios? Thanks!!! Wayne

Multiple local addresses for one domain
Hi Mozzers! If I have a website that has a separate office in each state that they wish to rank locally for eg: "service CityA" "service CityB" etc Would it be best to have a separate subdomain for each major city (unique content on each) with the office address specific to that city? Then there would be a separate Google places listing the subdomain as the website. Or should we just use subfolders? Would Google Places accept the subfolder as the web address? thanks!

Will the the transfer to a new registrar hurt my domains in the SERPs if all contact information for the domain stays the same and DNS stays the same and site hosting remains the same?

My Domain Name - short vs relevant
I'm creating a website for my new web design company in Vancouver. I'm looking to target such keywords as "Web Design Vancouver", etc. I have another company with a hyphenated domain name which is terrible when I'm on the phone and my client asks me for my domain (hard to say, always spelling it out). Also I wanted to have a good snappy name for my new business so I found a 6 letter .com and matching .ca for my company. My question is: is it best to use a short domain name or is it better have my keywords in the domain name? eg. xyz.com vs xyzvancouverwebdesign.com Thanks
