Which "business type" is most appropriate for MozLocal?
-
We are trying to select our "business type" for MozLocal. It's not clear what the implication is by choosing one over the other: brick and mortar or service area?
Does anyone understand the criteria to choose one over the other, and when and how is this used by local listings?
Thanks.

Hi David,
I was wondering if you can help me with a similar dilemma. I am technically a service area business, but we do have a location in each city/area that we service (to house the equipment and vehicles).
I would like to use Moz Local and do the right thing on Google, do I list myself as a SAB or a chain? I would rather be listed as a chain since it seems easier on many accounts but I don't want to "game" the system in anyway.

The difference has primarily to do with whether customers come to you or not.
Brick and Mortar business has a physical location that prospects and customers visit to do business. Examples include restaurants, shops, garages, doctors, lawyers, and movie theaters. A service area business does not. Examples include businesses that operate from home addresses, and online and mobile businesses like plumbers and electricians. If your business serves customers at their locations, you should list it as a service area business.

Primarily the tool is intended for Brick & Mortar business types as we will distribute the full NAP to our data partners. Service area businesses are supported, however not all of our partners will hide the street address, which is required to be displayed in order to submit through Moz Local. If you are only managing service are businesses, you may want to manage them manually if you want to keep the address private.
Hope this helps!

Unsolved Google My Business and Virtual Offices
Moz support suggests that the community may be able to answer this question, and I would appreciate the help. I own a coworking space that offers virtual office services. Based on my reading of Google's guidelines, A virtual office doesn't qualify for a GMB listing. However, multiple virtual office sites are offering GMB PIN codes if the member signs up for 6 months of service. The claim is that Google will see the address as "stable" after 6 months. The only possible reference I can find for this is 6 months for SEO results. Google expressly states, "virtual offices are not eligible for a business profile." Thanks for any feedback

Business located inside hotel showing as "Duplicate"
Hi Moz, I am going to be cleaning up and optimizing our client’s business listings using Moz Local Essential package. The client is a hotel and the bar inside of the hotel. When I used the Moz tool to check the current status of the hotel's business listings, the score returned 5 possible duplicates. The 5 listings that were returned as duplicates are the bar located inside the hotel. When the bar runs through the Moz tool, the hotel is returned as a duplicate. On Google My Business, the bar is shown as “located in” the hotel. Is this an option that can be implemented across other business listing sites via Moz? If not, what steps can be taken to prevent these “duplicates” from negatively impacting SEO and rankings for the two businesses? Thanks in advance!

Moz Local "Listing Reach" plummet
Hello, I use Moz Local for our company's 12 locations. On August 15 we had a "Listing Reach" of 315. Today I noticed we're down to 29. How does one verify what the problem is with Moz Local? Thanks in advance,

On Moz Local, localeze says "this listing is already managed by someone else"
Hey Mozzers, For my Moz local listings, there is a yellow exclamation mark on localeze and it says "this listing is already managed by someone else". My company previously had a listing with localeze, but we closed it early this year. How can I remove localeze's control of our account? How can I make sure Localeze is feeding all the appropriate sites with the correct information? thanks, Evan Jerkunica

Updating a Business name only in Moz Local.
My clients business changed their name. When I updated the CSV with the new business name in Moz Local it created a brand new business listing. Is there a better way to update only the business name?

How does the "Update Listing" in the InComplete section of Moz Local work?
I know it takes you to the listing site. Do you then have to create an account and claim the listing and then update it there? Does claiming the listing lose the connection with Moz Local? I've been spending a lot of time claiming listings and wondering if that's correct or not. Thanks Dana

Another MozLocal Error
What's going on with Mozlocal? Now, it's telling me my g+ page is 100% incomplete. Last week, it told me my foursquare was 100% incomplete. Both of those are inaccurate and I've had them listed for over 2 months. Am I the only one having problems? Ruben
