Is our Third Party Subdomain hurting our SERPs?
-
Hello!
Our Moz report under the root domain godelta.com displays 696 high priority issues that we cannot control that are all caused by a third party subdomain. promotionalproducts.godelta.com
We don’t have any control of the SEO on the third party website. Our blog posts link to the third party subdomain from our blog subdomain. blog.godelta.com
Is the third party subdomain affecting our SERP and should we replace the subdomain with its own domain name?
Hopefully we can clear this up and end the debate with our internal team and our HubSpot account manager.
David

Thank you for the answer. We have moved forward removing the sub domain and will keep you posted on our SERP progress
Thanks

Hi David,
Yes it could be impacting your SERP but without seeing what the issues are it's very hard to give full input.
If your building a new site on hubspot maybe it be a good idea to move everything onto the main domain.
It's better to control everything which is linked to your domain.

Hi David
Probably not the answer you want but... it could be.
It's almost impossible to say for sure without doing a full audit of the site to see exactly what the issues are with the subdomain.

Aaaron,
The subdomain promotionalproducts.godelta.com is a third party shopping cart website for our promotional products business that requires its own domain or a subdomain.
When we began using HubSpot we created a subdomain for our blog as it is hosted on the HubSpot COS and our website is Wordpress. We are in the process of developing our website on the HubSpot COS.
The question I am looking for an answer is the third party subdomain hurting our SERP based on the MOZ report that shows 696 high priority issues?
-
Hi David,
Can I ask why you have third party subdomain?
I always believe having everything clean is the best way to go. So try moving everything under a one domain that you control. This way you can get the best out outcomes when it comes to SERP. I know for us we always stay away from Subdomains and use Sub-folders for blogs and so on.
Here is a good link from Moz which talks about best practice.

Hope this helps.

New Subdomain SEO questions
I have a main site - mysite.com. I just created a subdomain - leadform.mysite.com I plan to use the leadform.mysite.com as a 1 page lead form only. I will link to leadform.mysite.com from mysite.com and also from other websites I own (myothersite.com etc.) - filtering all traffic to this form to capture leads. (Note - the leadform.mysite.com has CNAME to other server that hosts the backend of the form) My questions are: How should I link from mysite.com to leadform.mysite.com? With dofollow or nofollow? (mysite.com has 1000's of pages and would link from every page with "get a quote' type button) 2) How should I link from myothersite.com to leadform.mysite.com? With dofollow or nofollow? Any SEO risk linking to leadform.mysite.com from an outside domain? (myothersite.com has 1000's of pages and would link from every page with "get a quote' type button) Does it make sense to build links from outside sites to leadform.mysite.com directly to try to get that lead capture page to rank on it's own? 4) Does it make sense to link back from leadform.mysite.com back to mysite.com for seo value? With dofollow or nofollow? Thanks in advance for any help.

Recent drop in SERP from #1 to #2\.
Our #1 priority keyword, which we've ranked #1 for years, suddenly we're #2. And, the page listed above us doesn't seem to be even compete. Moz On-Page has us at an A and them at a C. When I review the html, I don't even seem any exactly keyword match or matching text on the page. I checked are ranking last week and didn't notice any change - so I've narrowed it down to something changing in the last 4-5 days. Also of note, when I test, We're #1 on mobile, #2 on desktop. Sorry to not list the url's. omitted intentionally. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

What is better for web ranking? A domain or subdomain?
I realise that often it is better put content in a subfolder rather than a subdomain, but I have another question that I cannot seem to find the answer to. Is there any ranking benefit to having a site on a .co.uk or .com domain rather than on a subdomain? I'm guessing that the subdomain might benefit from other content on the domain it's hosted on, but are subdomains weighted down in any way in the search results?

If other websites implement our RSS feed sidewide on there website, can that hurt our own website?
Think about the switching anchors from the backlinks and the 100s of sidewide inlinks... I gues Google will understand that it's just a RSS feed right?

301 redirect subdomain to path and 301 for popular pages
We have very popular pages that have many backlinks. www.chezmaya.com/jeux/game33.htm have so many backlinks and it's very popular. Now If i'm moving this page to a new path like : http://www.chezmaya.com/jeux/component/mtree/Défouloir/Game33/details.html with a 301. Your SEOmoz toolbar is now giving a very low PA:1 and mR:0.00 for this new page. My question is after you crawl my site again would you change the values to what /jeux/game33.htm got before ? We used to have jeux.chezmaya.com and moved to www.chezmaya.com/jeux/

Same here PA:1 and mR:0.00 for this page. Also Matt Cutts say that Google does transfer the juice from the old page to the new one. I already saw one url changed in a search for puzzle, it's at the same position it was before, but it say's 6 days ago beside. So I wonder if this is temporary and it will move with time? Thanks0 -
Demote subdomain sitelink?
Google search is creating 4 sitelinks for a website. One of these is the blog (blog.website.com). Webmaster tools allows for site links to be demoted, but there is no way to demote the blog we which we don't want to show up since it is not a "/" extension. Is there a way to remove it as a site link?

Rich Snippets Displayed in SERPs?
I've recently deployed rich snippets for a site that includes reviews on individual company profile pages. We passed the Rich Snippet Testing Tool and notified Google of our pages. It's been 2 months since we deployed this and still nothing. Does anyone have any feedback on the average time it takes Google to recognize these markup and include in on the SERPs? Or any articles that reference which industries they will include reviews in the SERPs for and which ones they won't? Thanks.
