2 version of meta description and title
-
Hi guys,
I have seen two versions of meta descriptions and meta titles for one URL (this is happening on a few of my pages).
Initially, I thought Google is pulling the information from my page content. However, it is not the case.
I have realized the information showing on SERPs are very old description (years ago information).
Just a bit background information, we had a new website launched in April this year. The issue stated since the new website launch.
Anyone experienced similar situation?

As others said, rewrites are common, but rewrites that include information that no longer exists is a bit odd. Typically, it means either Google is caching old content somewhere (including a duplicate copy of the page), or they're pulling from a directory somewhere, like the Open Directory.
You could try the NOODP tag, since its harmless, although the hit rate is low (i.e. don't get your hopes up):
If it were me, I'd put a unique snippet of the undesired meta description in quotes and do some exact searches on Google. Try to find out where Google thinks that text lives.

yes. that's correct.

To be clear are you saying content that has been expunged for 3 years google is displaying?
-
Hi John,
Thanks for your respond.
My understanding of this - Google is going to change the information showing on SERP depends on the search queries, but it is likely to pull information from the page content (if not from what I entered into meta description).
Is that the case? I am trying to figure out how google keeps showing 3 years old content?
Regards,

It happens often, as google matches a searchers intent with the relevant information. Often see a difference between branded searches and non branded searches for the same page.
Do you use Yoast?
Is the title in excess of 512 pixels? Is the description over 156 odd characters? There are numerous reasons it can be exacerbated.
Hope that assists.

Meta keywords
should every site have meta keywords or is this not used anymore? I don't use yoast and prefer rank math but there is nowhere to insert it. when I look at moz bar it shows meta keywords as a field so maybe it is important...

No index for http version of website
Hi, I've had a message from Google search console to say the sitemap for the http version of my site is tagged as no index. As the https version is indexed, do I need to change the http version to be indexed as well? Do I need to keep the http version of the site in search console alongside the https version, or should I remove it? Advice appreciated!

The effect of having CR LF HT commands in a <title>tag</title>
Hello. I am looking at a customer site with a CMS system that is controlling the population of the meta TITLE Currently it has the TITLE set as this <title>(CR)(LF)<br />(HT)Site Details REMOVED - Customer name REMOVED(CR)(LF)<br /></title> Naturally, we would prefer it to be <title>Site Details REMOVED - Customer name REMOVED</title> What affect would these commands have in the title! Google shows their title when you Google the company website... so I guess it can see it .... but GA "Top Site Content" widget shows it as blank ? Any ideas? Cheers

Which is better, have our location in the title or have a title that is 66 characters?
I was told by an SEO company that I need to put our name and location in every page title, however, an seomoz.org campaign gave me warnings for having a page title that is too long. Which is better, have our location in the title or have a title that is 66 characters? We have both a physical and online store, so it would still be nice to direct foot traffic to our physical store.

How do Maximize WordPress with 2 SEO Plugins
I have 2 WordPress SEO Plugins, Yoast and All-in-One SEO. I have tried like heck to make them work together, but every time I crawl my site here, I get multiple error messages. My question is, how can I tweak the title settings to avoid having multiple meta desctiptions, titles etc.
