Google Page Speed

Is it worthwhile going after a good score on Google page speed?
Had prices but a LOT of money, and don't know if it's worth it or not.
Also to add to the complication it is a new site.
Does anyone have any experience if it helps rankings?
Thanks

So, I don't totally agree with the statement "it's not worth it, UNLESS you have fixed every other SEO issue," although I totally see where Josh is coming from. From a purely "how well will this affect how my site ranks in Google" perspective, Josh is right, there are usually a lot of other things that you could be spending time or money on that would have bigger bang for your buck - but there are other reasons to want your site to load quickly (such as that users like it and it makes it easier to access your site using mobile devices).
In my experience/testing, page load time doesn't start to affect your rankings unless your site is really, really, really slow, well over 10 seconds of page load time. So anything under around 15 seconds on average, you're not going to see a negative SEO affect. From there, it's just a matter of making things as fast as you can, for your users, in ways that make sense for you.
Whenever I make recommendations to speed up a site there are always things where I'm like "this is not going to make that much of an impact so if it's going to cost a lot of money to do, you shouldn't do it." What those things are and how much time/money they'll take to fix will be different for everyone. I would say, fix the things that you can fix cheaply and easily (this is usually things like compressing images, inlining resources, and changing cache expiration). Save the stuff that's going to take more time and money and keep it in mind for the next time you want to make other substantial updates to your site.

I would like to point out I am not green to SEO, but explicit answers do help
The site is brand-new and built-in WordPress, I'm not aware of any major issues impacting.

Could you elaborate what you mean by 'every other SEO issue'
Thanks

It surprises me that it would cost a lot of money. It can be costly if you want to get 100% score - but most of the time things like optimising your images, gzip & minify your content, caching ... shouldn't cost a fortune.
Don't forget to also check tools like Webpagetest.org - which are checking the actual load time.
These are complimentary to Page speed insights. As an example: if you serve a 5 1000KB images that are compressed and optimized Google Page Speed insights will be quite happy - however - on Webpagetest.org you will see the impact of these heavy images on load time.
As Matt is saying - speed is important - and will probably become more important in the future (increasing number of visits on mobile devices with slower network connections)

Yes, pagespeed is a confirmed Google ranking factor. You should try to optimise as much as possible. Depending on what's currently wrong this can be anywhere from a half hour job to a full site rebuild. If you had multiple high quotes, it's probably leaning toward the latter. Happy to take a look if you leave a domain here or drop me a PM. But yes, site speed does matter. The more difficult & competitive the keywords, the more it matters.

Keyword On Page 1 Everywhere but Google (Site Specific)
Website: www.wheelchairparts.com

Keyword: wheelchair parts My website is #1 or #2 on almost every search engine besides Google. Google has us bouncing between the bottom of page 2 and top of 3. However we are on page one for "wheelchairparts". I need to get a link building campaign going for this site. I feel it's more difficult for ecommerce websites and nothing seems to fit in with Rand's Mozcon 2016 Link Building talk except hacks. I need to find a flywheel. Either way, my question is what can I do other than link building to get on page 1 of Google for the term "wheelchair parts"? Thanks in advance! - Mike Bean1 -
How to optimize count of interlinking by increasing Interlinking count of chosen landing pages and decreasing for less important pages within the site?
We have taken out our interlinking counts (Only Internal Links and not Outbound Links) through Google WebMaster tool and discovered that the count of interlinking of our most significant pages are less as compared to of less significant pages. Our objective is to reverse the existing behavior by increasing Interlinking count of important pages and reduce the count for less important pages so that maximum link juice could be transferred to right pages thereby increasing SEO traffic.

Google Adsbot crawling order confirmation pages?
Hi, We have had roughly 1000+ requests per 24 hours from Google-adsbot to our confirmation pages. This generates an error as the confirmation page cannot be viewed after closing or by anyone who didn't complete the order. How is google-adsbot finding pages to crawl that are not linked to anywhere on the site, in the sitemap or linked to anywhere else? Is there any harm in a google crawler receiving a higher percentage of errors - even though the pages are not supposed to be requested. Is there anything we can do to prevent the errors for the benefit of our network team and what are the possible risks of any measures we can take? This bot seems to be for evaluating the quality of landing pages used in for Adwords so why is it trying to access confirmation pages when they have not been set for any of our adverts? We included "Disallow: /confirmation" in the robots.txt but it has continued to request these pages, generating a 403 page and an error in the log files so it seems Adsbot doesn't follow robots.txt. Thanks in advance for any help, Sam

Google Page Speed Score 91, But 5-8 Seconds to Download URL
Greetings MOZ Community: In Google Analytics under "Site Speed" under "Behavior" our home page has a page speed rank of 91 which I assume is pretty fast. However the "Average Page Load Time" is varies between 5 and 8 seconds, which seems very slow. My developers have made major efforts to optimize the home page URL (www.nyc-officespace-leader.com) for speed. The page has a carousel which I assume may be slowing it down. Is the download speed of this page detrimental to SEO? Or is the favorable Page Speed Score good enough. I am particularly concerned because the most competitive phrases are ranked on the home page. As it stands I am having a lot of difficulty ranking in the top ten for these pages. My concern is that the slow download speed of the home page could be holding back ranking of these terms. If necessary I can always redesign the home page and remove the carousel or reduce the number of listings in the carousel to speed it up. Is this worth investing effort in or is the speed good enough? Thanks, Alan

"No index" page still shows in search results and paginated pages shows page 2 in results
I have "no index, follow" on some pages, which I set 2 weeks ago. Today I see one of these pages showing in Google Search Results. I am using rel=next prev on pages, yet Page 2 of a string of pages showed up in results before Page 1. What could be the issue?

Which page to target? Home or /landing-page
I have optimized my home page for the keyword "computer repairs" would I be better of targeting my links at this page or an additional page (which already exists) called /repairs it's possible to rename & 301 this page to /computer-repairs The only advantage I can see from targeting /computer-repairs is that the keywords are in the target URL.
