VPS, shared or dedicated hosting?
-
Hello,
I would love it if anyone could advise whether to use VPS, shared or dedicated hosting to host 50 WordPress sites and around 50 other one page flat HTML sites ... with everything being served via CloudFlare.
Of course my main concerns are page load times, security etc.
I know it's a big question, but I would be very appreciative of the thoughts people have, and any recommendations.
Kind regards,
Mark -
Hi, you helped me by pointing me to dedicated hosting, I hadn't considered it before, thank you!
-
It depends on some criteria, what kind of Webhosting you need. Well, First of all, I would suggest you avoid shared hosting plan. Then you can use VPS and Dedicated. Dedicated hosting would be the best. Thanks

You can use any shred housed for your small content-based website. I'm using shared hosting, and you can see the website page working well.

Hi Richard,
Hey thank you very much for the fast and helpful reply!
To me it makes sense to host close to where your main customer base is, even with a CDN, even if there are posts which say that specifying the geo in Google Search Console / Webmaster Tools pretty much overrides the hosting location in terms of location context (or ... "mainly"):
https://moz.com/community/q/what-happens-with-seo-when-a-site-is-served-via-cloudflare-cfnGiven things are so hyper-competitive, to me it makes sense to incorporate every miniscule refinement where they all add up over time, in other words set up hosting closest to the customer base.
It seems that perhaps a VPS plan hosted in the US is probably the most sensible option at the moment, as I have sites that are specific to 7 countries but they use ccTLD ... and the rest of the 141 sites or so that I am running are for global targeting, but probably 40% of the traffic would come from US, 30% from Europe. I guess I could create 2 VPS plans and host one in Europe but for now it seems perhaps not worth the effort and expense.
What are your thoughts on the article above?
Best regards,
Mark -
1. Avoid shared hosting (Often very limited resources)
2. I would definitely look at beefy VPS, they are very cost-effective. (Make sure you get a managed solution)
3. Dedicated servers are good, but very expensive.
Aim to hosting the country you want to serve (Yes even though you using a CDN)
As a final note before moving everything over, migrate one of the biggest sites and test thoroughly for performance before moving the rest. When you are migrating and for a few weeks afterwards keep your old service up and running so you can quickly change back to the old location if you have any issues.
Also backup, backup, backup. Everything and at every stage (From bitter experience)
Hope it helps, these suggestions from personal experience.
Regards
Richard

Trading As Business Name
Some businesses are set us with a company name but trade under another name (or numerous other names). What's the best way to handle this when it comes to Knowledge Graph & Schema.org and what about NAP consistency? Am assuming the only way to handle this is to do something like this: Blue Widgets Ltd trading as Cars UK Or is there a better way?

The thing I wondered is the following items.

Google My Business Shared Address Problem
Hi, I have an issue. Our organization shares a church with another organization. Years ago they claimed the address. They have their Google Business category set up as "Religious Organization". About 6 months ago we started sharing the same church with them. We are a total different organization. We now have a verified listing (same address but with STE 100 in it) with the main category being "Church". There are a few issues I am seeing: When doing a search for our address, the icon is the default one, whereas all the other churches in the area show the church icon. Is this because they claimed the original address as "Religious Organization" and because we only have STE 100, even though labeled as Church, Google doesn't see it that way? If you search for the location + church, neither of our organizations show, even after 6 months. They only show if you search for the organization name or address. Could this be because Google doesn't consider this address (therefore both of us) as a church and doesn't show it? Here is our Google local listing and the one we share with. Any help would be greatly appreciated. https://www.google.com/maps/place/1018+Parkway+Dr,+Spring+Hill,+TN+37174/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x8863828b8f17015b:0x59fd9715acc7e144?sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi7h5DCqfbXAhXBc98KHXcyA4gQ8gEIKDAA Thank you!

Beauty salon and chiropractor sharing the same address
Hi There. I have my very first client who wants me to help with her GMB profile and online visibility in general.
Local Listings | | coolhandluc
She rents a space at a chiropractic clinic (she is a one man band so doesn't need much room).
The owner of the chiropractic clinic has a GMB profile and the beauty therapist has hers too but obviously, they both share the same address. Is this going to be an issue since they both run different businesses under different names and both have different phone numbers? They would only have the same address.
I don't want to screw this up so any help would be greatly appreciated.

4 shared locations - 1 phone number - legacy GMB - HELP!!!
I have a friend who is a dietician and has the following issue with his business He works in 4 different locations across town- Each location is shared with other practitioners. - he uses the same phone number for each location (free 0800 UK number)- he has legacy google places profiles for some locations with some reviews he'd like to keep and other locations he'd like to delete. He'd like to be present on page 1 of google for terms like dietician in "name of location he works in"I am clearly concerned about his NAP profile since he only has 1 phone number for all locations. The address of each location can clash with other practitioners working there who have already registered a GMB profile using the same addresses although there might be the possibility of using something like "suite x" to differentiate his business in the address. Can anybody advice on how they would approach this one please. Thanks

In 2015, How Important is having a Local IP address (rather than a cheaper hosting overseas)?
Looking to move several sites from my current hosting provider, and am considering moving them to cheaper, overseas hosting providers. What's the current thinking of how this will impact local SEO results?

Hosting in a foreign country!
If a client is based in New York, and looks to target customers is New York. Is it wise to have your hosting server located in another country? Will this affect being searched locally? I have heard this can affect local search optimisation?
