Added sub-folder to GWT no data?
Hi guys,
I've added a sub-folder to GWT: domain.com.au/us/ about 5 days ago.
I have no yet received any data via GWT around the subfolder.
The main domain domain.com.au has been added separately and is receiving traffic.
Any ideas why i'm not seeing data for the sub-folder above domain.com.au/us/
I simply added it as a new property in GWT.
Thankyou.

Hi Jay! Did you ever get your data? Or did these fine folks help?

GSC is very finicky, I'd make sure:
- You're using the www subdomain, if that's how traffic typically gets to your site
- Google has domain.com.au/us/ indexed (check by searching for site:domain.com.au/us/ to see all of the pages Google has in its index)
- This subfolder gets traffic (check for organic traffic in Google Analytics)
Hope this helps!
Kristina

Peter brings up a good check: are domain.com.au/us/ pages in Google's index? If they're blocked, you won't get anything.

Uhmm I thought this was about Google Search Console, not Google Analytics?

Sometimes it can take up to a week for data to appear in Google Search Console, but it should be there faster usually. We added hundreds of profiles automatically and within days we received the information. Are you absolutely positive that this folder is already receiving organic traffic?
-
Maybe because content there isn't appear in SERP to generate impressions. You need to check robots.txt, sitemap, hreflang of main site to see how pages in /us/ folder are indexed.

Would adding and abbreviation to a title hurt?
I have been trying to figure this out- https://moz.com/community/q/what-should-i-do-with-old-e-commerce-item-pages I added n/a to the end of the page titles so I could figure out how these pages were performing. Since I added them my organic traffic has seemed to have dropped. It has only been a few days so maybe it is an anomaly. Everything else has stayed the same, would this cause an organic traffic drop?

A few questions on Google's Structured Data Markup Helper...
I'm trying to go through my site and add microdata with the help of Google's Structured Data Markup Helper. I have a few questions that I have not been able to find an answer for. Here is the URL I am referring to: http://www.howlatthemoon.com/locations/location-chicago My company is a bar/club, with only 4 out of 13 locations serving food. Would you mark this up as a local business or a restaurant? It asks for "URL" above the ratings. Is this supposed to be the URL that ratings are on like Yelp or something? Or is it the URL for the page? Either way, neither of those URLs are on the page so I can't select them. If it is for Yelp should I link to it? How do I add reviews? Do they have to be on the page? If I make a group of days for Day of the Week for Opening hours, such as Mon-Thu, will that work out? I have events on this page. However, when I tried to do the markup for just the event it told me to use itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/Event" on the body tag of the page. That is just a small part of the page, I'm not sure why I would put the event tag on the whole body? Any other tips would be much appreciated. Thanks!

PDFs and images in Sub folder or subdomain?
What would you recommend as best practice? Our ecommerce site has a lot of PDFs supporting the product page. Currently they are kept in a sub domain and so are all images. Would it be better to keep them all in a subfolder? I've read about blogs being hosted on a subfolder to be better than subdomain but what about pdfs and images? thoughts?

Website Consolidation To Sub Domains or Leave Stand Alone
For a real estate SEO client they have their corporate site and then for each of their communities (10 of them) each community has their own website domains. One of their team members met with another search agency who recommended they move (consolidate) all their community domains under the corporate site as a sub domain. For example let's say their main site was www.maincompany.com and one of their communities was www.localcompany.com the other firm recommended they move that existing site to become localcompany.maincompany.com and for the other 9 communities to do the exact same thing. They shared that it would really help the corporate site and each of the communities improve search rankings. I am struggling to see how this could be possible and was hoping to get some perspective as the client has asked me to come in and give my opinion if they should proceed with this consolidation. Google has indexed each of their community sites and each site gets a decent amount of search traffic and rankings. Due to that I can't see any benefit to doing this. Since each sub domain would be considered a different site than it essentially is what they already have today so it does not raise domain authority for the main company site. Since, each community has a very different brand there would be little reason to go the main company site. What I mean by that is if a user went to localcompany.maincompany.com site I thought that some may (at least out of curiosity) remove the sub-domain to see the maincompany.com site. The look and feel of each are so different it would potentially cause user confusion too. So my thoughts are this would be a negative for both the search engines and user. So I can share factual pros/cons with clients, do you have any thoughts to the pro's / con's of this approach to consolidate/move other existing sites under a sub domain of the main corporate site?
