Preferred domain is it importnant you choose one?
-
HI,
Just wanted to know if it is important to choose www or non www or let google choose?
Regards
-
Yeah, personally, ReSEOlve, I'd say to search Google and see what it chose, then stick with that. Unless, as Bryan notes, it makes a branding difference to you.
But definitely make sure that you get the proper redirects in place once you've chosen one.

Dmitrii isn't wrong, but I feel it's always important to determine which version is best for your branding, marketing materials, and which is most memorable/useful for your customers and leads. Some sites do better with "www", and some without. Don't leave it up to chance for Google to choose one for you.

Hi there.
The question would if it's important to you. If it doesn't matter to you whatsoever, then let Google choose, however, make sure that when you build backlinks or leave link to your domain anywhere, use the one which google chose, just for consistency.

One landing page or many?
I can not understand which is the best way to target similar keywords. Do the best way is create landingpage for each long tail keyword landing page or better one but with all included keywords? On the siste i have landingpages: 1. Metal doors 1.2. Steel doors for private houses 1.3. Durvis 1.4 Metal doors for technical rooms and so on. In Latvian language it sounds ok. Some time ago for other sites it worked good but now it just does not work. I see google meses these results up and seo performance is bad. Can you suggest correct structure? Thanks metāla durvis dzīvoklim un mājai m24 metāla durvis sos serviss durvju atvēršana

Old domain to new domain
Hi, A website on server A is no longer required. The owner has redirected some URLS of this website (via plugin) to his new website on server B -but not all URLS. So when I use COMMAND site:website A , I see a mixture of redirected URLS and not redirected URLS.Therefore two websites are still being indexed in some form and causing duplication. However, weirdly when I crawl with Screaming Frog I only see one URL which is 301 redirected to the new website. I would have thought I'd see lots of URLs which hadn't been redirected. How come it is different to using the site:command? Anyway, how do I move to the new website completely without the old one being indexed anymore. I thought I knew this but have read so many blogs I've confused myself! Should I: Redirect all URLS via the HTACESS file on old website on server A? There are lots of pages indexed so a lot of URLs. What if I miss some? or Point the old domain via DNS to server B and do the redirects in website B HTaccess file? This seems more sensible but does this method still retain the website rankings? Thanks for any help

Redirect root domain to www
I've been having issues with my keyword rankings with MOZ and this is what David at M0Z asked me to do below. Does anyone have a solution to this? I'm not 100% sure what to do. Does it hurt ranking to have a domain at the root or not? Can I 301 redirect a whole site or do I have to do individual pages. "Your campaign is looking for rankings for the www version of the campaign but the URL resolves as a root domain. This would explain the discrepancy. Since there is no re-direct between the two, you can have brickmarkers.com 301 re-direct to www.site.com which will prevent you from re-creating your campaign to track the root domain. Once the re-direct is in place it will take a while for Google to show the www version in the results in which your campaign rankings will be accurate." Thanks

301 redirect domain to page on another domain
Hi, If I wanted to do a 301 permanent redirect on a domain to a page on another domain will this cause any problems? Lets say I have 4 domains (all indexed with content), I decide to create a new domain with 4 pages, one for each domain. I copy the content from the old domains to the relevant page on the new domain and set it live. At the same time as setting the new site live I do a 301 permanent redirect on the 4 domains to the relevant pages on the new domain. What happens if Google indexes the new site before visiting the redirected domains, could this cause a duplicate content penalty? Cheers

Does no preferred domain allow interlinking spammers to double their output?
Doing research on new client's links. Found 151 linking root domains all from same interlinking scam. Here are duplicated domains for one site (not my client) on his scam: DrainageHouston.com, patiosandponds.net, patioshouston.net, houstonlandscape.org, drainagehouston.com, houstonoutdoorlighting.com. I have attached an img. showing these in OSE with each having a www and a non www linking to the site. Note: When I found this it was by checking other domains they owned that they did not know had sites on them. They literally were all cloned with other domain names. We took the three additional sites and did 301 redirects from those to main site. Since there were only three additional and only about 30 pages per, I do not see it as a problem with redirect. So the question is: By doing this without preferred domain and 301 in .htaccess of non-www to www, is he able to double his dubious enterprise?
