Hi everybody, one of my clients has a domain (www.sea-aeroportimilano.it) well ranked on Google.it.
He has a redirect 302 from www.sea-aeroportimilano.it to www1.seamilano.eu/landing/index_it.html. The site has also an english version (www1.seamilano.eu/landing/index_en.html).Do you think it's the right setting? What about a 301 from www.sea-aeroportimilano.it to www1.seamilano.eu/landing and after that an authomatic redirect 302 for the language (to www1.seamilano.eu/landing/index_it.html or www1.seamilano.eu/landing/index_en.html)?Thanks a lot.Massimiliano -
Hi Peter,
in this article it talks about a simple depending on users localization redirect, in the same domain.
In my case are two domains. the first www.sea-aeroportimilano.it with a redirect 302 to a landing page in italian or english in another domain (www1.seamilano.eu/landing/index_it.html).
I would like to follow the google guide lines for redirection and to set a 301 between www.sea-aeroportimilano.it and www1.seamilano.eu/landing, and after that a 302 for the language.
Of course I will add hreflang for IT and EN.
What do you think?

Google recommend to keep this with 302:
https://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2014/05/creating-right-homepage-for-your.html
so keep it as now with 302, just add hreflang for both pages after redirect. Also on original domain add "vary: accept-language" header.I think that one redirection is better than two redirections specially for mobile users.

Hi Peter,
thank you for your answer.
The problem is not for the Google Search, but for direct or referrals traffic.
When someone put the www.sea-aeroportimilano.it address on the address bar he will be redirected automatically to the proper language version. But now the redirection is a 302 cross domain.
In my opinion it could be better to set a 301 redirect between www.sea-aeroportimilano.it and www1.seamilano.eu/landing/ and after that an automatical redirect 302 to the language proper language version.
What do you think?
Thanks in advance
Massimiliano

Why you make 301/302 redirect to other site when you just can make hreflang cross domain between sites?
Then italian users will see italian version in SERP and english users can see english version. Here is how to do it:
https://moz.com/learn/seo/hreflang-tag
https://moz.com/blog/hreflang-behaviour-insights
https://moz.com/blog/using-the-correct-hreflang-tag-a-new-generator-tool
https://moz.com/blog/open-source-library-tool-check-hreflang
http://www.searchenginejournal.com/getting-a-better-understanding-of-hreflang/60468/You also need to verify in SearchConsole both sites and can setup on Italian site that it's for Italians. And setup English for worldwide.

Say I have:www.mydomain.com (which is in English)
www.mydomain.com/ES (which is in Spanish)
www.mydomain.com/NL (which is in Dutch) I don't want to limit the ie. Spanish to only Spain so geotargeting isn't necessary What is the best/correct setup for the pages?0 -

Hi I'm looking for ‘location search’ functionality to cover an extensive range of global locations to help increase the visibility I have been looking to use Google Places functionality, which has an extremely broad list of locations Would anyone have any experience in using Google places to power their websites internal search as well as if there is a cost to integrate it and other factors to be aware of? Thanks Simon

Intentional redirect for international visitors to a website
We are doing PPC for a new client, and using Clicktale to improve conversion rates. However, Clicktale won't work because the client does not want international visitors looking at their website (competitive reasons! - yeah don't get me started...). They have a redirect on for all international visitors which points to a "coming soon..." page Are there any SEO implications on traffic in their own country (they currently do rank for terms)? I'd like to go back with a strong case for them removing any international redirect. Thank You

How to replace my .co.uk site with my .com site in the US Google results
My customer and I are based in the UK. My customer's site, www.blindbolt.co.uk has been around for years. Last year we launched their American site, www.blindboltusa.com. Searching on google.com (tested both via proxy and using the gl=us querystring trick), a search for blind bolt on the US Google returns our www.blindbolt.co.uk site. We would like it to show our www.blindboltusa.com website in US searches. Webmaster tools has the Geographic Target set correctly for each site. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions please? Thanks.

Reciprocal Links between my own sites ?
Is is ok to have Reciprocal Links between sites you really own ? We have a website that has been regionalized to 5 countries, using 5 different domains. The content is exclusive for the country but the keywords used might be similar. We have all the domains under the same Analytics account and all of them share the same Adsense code. Can I be penalized by Google for making reciprocal links between them ? Is something usefull for improving the SEO rank or I should avoid doing it ? Thanks in advance

Site Spider/ Crawler/ Scraper Software
Short of coding up your own web crawler - does anyone know/ have any experience with a good bit of software to run through all the pages on a single domain? (And potentially on linked domains 1 hop away...) This could be either server or desktop based. Useful capabilities would include: Scraping (x-path parameters) of clicks from homepage (site architecture) http headers Multi threading Use of proxies Robots.txt compliance option csv output Anything else you can think of... Perhaps an oppourtunity for an additional SEOmoz tool here since they do it already! Cheers! Note:

Targeting Different Countries... One Site or Separate?
I have a client who has 3 ecommerce sites. They are somewhat differentiated but for the most part sell the same stuff. Luckily 2 of them are quite authoritative, old and rank reasonably well. Most of the visitors and sales come from the US. He wants to start targeting Europe, Mexico and Canada. What are your suggestions for doing this? Are we better targeting on the main domains? Not really sure how to do that? Should we use a subdomain and a new store front for each geo? Should we use a .co.uk .co.mx and .co.ca each with a unique storefront? It looks like we are moving to a Magento platform so setting up multiple storefronts on a single database is not a big issue. Anyone have any experience with this?
