Outreach, Relationships and Link Development
-
We are a small inbound marketing team working in a very competitive industry with sites across the globe.
We work very hard on our content marketing and social media and find that we are lacking manpower when it comes to outreach to third party sites and industry leaders...
We were thinking of hiring a number of freelance marketers (individuals not agencies) to help us with this task.
Does anyone have any experience with similar issues? Have you worked with freelancer marketers or agencies globally?
Any recommendations would be appreciated.

When I ran the content marketing department for a successful agency in Dallas, I took our department down the precise path you now look at. I worked to identify (through social media interactions, in-person meetings at conferences and introductions by friends and acquaintances.)
What I found to be most successful was selecting individuals who had an understanding of PR. These folks can work wonders in helping you create, share and promote the types of content worthy of getting links and mentions. These are also the folks who are most likely to have the needed connections that can help the brands you work with attain meaningful traction.
When it comes to link building and outreach, mindset is as important is an important to the connections you hope to form.

Using freelancers can be very successful--and it can also be a nightmare as well. What we typically recommend is that the more specific you are in what you want that freelancer to do the better. So, just asking them to get more links or work on outreach is setting yourself up for disaster.
If you are able to set up very specific tasks, use a task management system, and have the proper training in place then using freelancers should work out well for you.

I would recommend looking at sites and platforms like upwork and thumbtack. Depending on your location Thumbtack will help you find local freelancers if there are any in your area to contract work out to. Also, it could be beneficial to consider peopleperhour they seem to have a pretty large freelance base.
Just make sure you have detailed job descriptions and properly vet your candidates before making any hires.

Yes, we use freelancers for specific tasks. There are 1000's of great people out there, much better qualified than you think... We use freelancer.com, elance etc.
That said the first and safest place we have found and start looking is stay at home parents (usually mum's). Start in your own backyard.. they often only want to work 1-2 days a week and at their convenience. But they deliver in spades, over qualified, better contacts than you... etc etc.. and in expensive ...
Hope that assists.

Why are bit.ly and ow.ly links showing up as Inbound Links?
Hello! I noticed this question was asked a while back (around 2013 i think), but I still don't quite understand why I'm seeing these shortened URLs come up as Inbound Links? Can someone please explain? Thanks,

Inbound link is follow link but we put no follow link back - is it beneficial for rankings?
Dear Moz Community, We are operating in a niche market, where there are not so many content marketing options. What we are left with are link exchanging with relevant sites that are on the same topic but to not directly compete with us. Now we know that if we link back to site A and site a links back to us - for google this is not a very good link. But, some of the sites we are exchanging links with, do not know the term follow vs no follow links. My question - if your link is to site A is a no follow link but they give us a follow link - does it mean thats a better option than a follow vs follow. Thanks for help!

A website with a spam score of 5 is back linking to me. How important is to get that link removed?
There is a website that OSE has identified with a spam score of 5, it back links to me with a very specific key word. How important is it to have them remove those links?

Thoughts on creating a resource/recommend links page in order to attain links?
Hey guys, Just wondering, how does Google view reciprocal link building nowadays? I've heard in the past that it's something that Google isn't particularly keen on. However, more recently, I've also read that - as long as the links are decent (and in moderation) - link exchanging is by no means a bad thing. The reason I ask is that I'm thinking of creating a "resource/recommended links page" for a client of mine. Because of their industry, it's really apparent that attaining links is often only possible if there is the opportunity of a reciprocal link in return. Therefore, I'd need to have a resource/recommend links page of my own. Is this something I should go ahead with to make it much easier to attain links? Or should I try to avoid reciprocal links and attempt to pinpoint one-way linking opportunities - even if they're thin on the ground? Any help much as appreciated as always. Cheers.

Reciprocal links
I've heard that reciprocal links don't count anymore. If i stop linking to a person that links to me, will that link to my website start counting? Do reciprocal links count at all in google? Anchor text? anything? Thanks in advance! Ron

Linking articles to each other
I've been using white-hat article marketing to post original content about my niche to credible article directories (yes, I realize many of them were recently devalued). My question is: Is it a good or bad idea to have future articles link to older articles, as a way to increase the chances of having the older articles indexed, or increasing the amount of link juice they pass to my site (since they point to my site)? I get 2 links per article and was thinking of using 1 to point to a prior (related) article, and the other to point to my site.
