Pages not cached
-
Sorry for all the questions.
I have dozens of article pages that are not cached by google. How can I get them cached?
-
Your site is being properly indexed, your pages are appearing as expected in Google SERPs and you see the cached pages but you do not see the header at the top of the cached pages which says "This is Google's cache of [url]. It is a snapshot of the page as it appeared on [date]".
Is the above an accurate description of what you are seeing?
-
Kind of, it doesn't show a cache date.
-
If I understand you correctly, the pages in question appear in Google results and show a cache link, but when you click the cache link nothing happens? or a blank page appears?
-
It's weird. When I take some specific copy and insert it in google, the article comes up, but then when I click the "cached" link it doesn't show a cache. What's that?
-
I have a link off my homepage to my main article directory page. On that page is about a dozen or more category links. Click on a category, and then you have links to all the articles in that category So that's what, one click off homepage, second click on category, third click on actual article.
-
Are the pages currently indexed? If not, then the advice Bevelwise offered could help.
If the pages are appearing in the index, then the steps Bevelwise suggested would not benefit you. Normally Google will cache the pages. Any chance these pages have a meta tag set to disable caching?
-
I would ensure that you have submitted an .xml sitemap in Google Webmaster Tools that includes those article pages. That will help. Also if you make an HTML sitemap on your website and include links to those article pages that will also help.
Also depending on how your site architecture is setup affects how Google crawls your website. Are those article pages 2-3 clicks away from the website? Are all the links crawl-able html?

Thin Content pages
I have a couple of pages that are thin content. One is essentially a page with the icons of our customers and a link out to their website. The other is a summary portfolio page that has some images of some of the client work we have done with links to internal pages that have more details about each client situation, approach, etc. These deeper pages are just fine. What is the recommendation for handling these thin content pages? We could add content, but then it wouldn't really help the user very much.

Geotargeting on Home Page
I work on a website that have listings across the country. Is it possible for us to geotarget the home page of the website to cater to the person based on location so we can show the geogargeting links, articles, videos on the home page and direct the user in the right direction. Forrent seem to be doing it: http://www.forrent.com/ Will this have any negative SEO impact or we can lose rankings ?

Meta Title for Category Pages
I am trying to improve the SEO for a few key category pages on my blog. I have two ranking really well so I want to boost them and bring up some others. Can I put two keywords in the meta title? Example: Maternity Deals | Pregnancy Deals Or should I just stick with one? Thanks!

We have 5 postions on page 2 in a google search, but none on page 1\. How can we fix this?
For one of our most important key phrases we have 5 listings on page 2 but none on page 1. We are an ecommerce company, the key phrase we're trying for is a Top Level Category name for us, so the 5 links we have on googles second page for the key phrase (in order) are the appropriate top level category page, the sites home page and than three sub categories of that top level category. So while that all makes sense, can't we convince google to concentrate all that link power/juice into just the top level category page? Hopefully bumping it to first page rank? The 5 ranks are 11-15
