Youtube Views
-
We have a Youtube channel that has a 7+ years of history and a bunch of views.
With that said they are not tagged or described very well on youtube.
For business reasons, we are considering creating a new Google/Youtube account, then moving the videos to the new account and properly tagging.
Does anyone have SEO thoughts on essentially killing our youtube views/history?
-
We can clean up the channel...the reason we were considering moving to a new channel is because we were considering moving from an xyz@gmail.com login to an @domain.com login.
Does anyone have thoughts on the SEO benefits of an @domain.com login vs @gmail.com login?
Or is adding my url to the "Associated website" channel setting sufficient for SEO purposes?

It really depends on your current metrics. As Sergey said things like views, videos uploaded, shares & minutes watching are all ranking factors over there so the more you have already the better.
If your average time spent watching is really low, I'd consider moving them - but an account with history is more valuable than a brand new one so if your numbers aren't completely shot, I'd keep the channel and rebrand it.

Hi Brian,
Here are my thoughts around your questions:
-
You mention that the videos aren't tagged or optimized well. If this is a main reason for creating a new channel I would suggest you create a plan for going back and optimizing/tagging all of your current videos instead.
-
Instead of creating an entirely new channel, could you rebrand yours? Change the name, logo, links, etc. but keep the videos, views, shares, etc.
-
In terms of SEO - YouTube takes user signals (views, shares, interactions) into account for ranking videos. I would say if there's anyway you could retain your current YouTube channel, do that. However, if you have to create a new YouTube you can get newer videos ranking fairly well by optimizing them correctly as well as adding them to a video sitemap and utilizing schema.
Hope that helps!

Updating Youtube Videos: Does this Reset Your Views to 0?
Hello Moz Community, Our team is looking to update a few videos in our Youtube channel but are concerned that doing so will reset the current amount of views to 0 once the change has been made. Would anyone happen to know if this happens or if the views remain the same? Also, how do the updates to the videos affect rank and visibility? Thank you all for your help.

Changing / editing street view picture of premiss without drop in Google places ranking
Ive finally got a site quite high in the relevant Google places listings, after a year or so of trying. What ive noticed is that the auto generated street view image of the business is showing a row of garages round the back of the building, rather than the building entrance. Is there a way i can update the auto generated street view images of the business without risking the google places ranking / need to submit a move of address. Has any one had any experience with doing this in the past ?

Does duplicate content damage ranking in YouTube the same way it does on websites?
I'm asking this question due to the following scenario: When we have videos produced by Third Party video companies they upload the video to their YouTube account before us (the customer), has chance to upload it to ours. If this was an article that was uploaded to the web then the website uploading it first would be classed as the original piece and all other website uploading the article would be considered duplicates and not rank (As I believe). Hence my question, does YouTube work in the same way and hence our videos when searched in YouTube be secondary to our Third Party video companies as they are posting them first? Regards, Tom

Hosting Video both on YouTube AND Independently on Site?
I've got a pretty good handle on the pros / cons of hosting on videos on a free service like YouTube vs. hosting them independently with something like Wistia. But one question I've never heard answered is "Why not host the same video both ways?" Why wouldn't I publish a video to YouTube (to get the exposure and better chance to rank) and then also host the same video independently on my site with Wistia (to get a second listing in the SERPs, as well as a thumbnail that links to my site)? Is this seen as a spammy practice? Duplicate content? Would love to hear your thoughts on this as it's something that seems to potentially be a win-win, but haven't heard it discussed. Thanks!

Finding Pages with Youtube Embedded Videos in Google SERP
I'm trying to figure out a process to find specific youtube embed videos using Google search. But a lot of sites are not being returned. For example, I know that the following video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MnylRaQC3w) is linked to and embedded on http://gizmodo.com/5898438/watch-how-fender-builds-its-iconic-stratocasters However, I can't figure out a set of search terms to find that in Google. Searching for (1MnylRaQC3w Gizmodo) doesn't return the right page in the results. I'd like to figure this out so I could see everywhere a certain youtube video has been embedded.

Multiple use of a YouTube video on site
Hi I want to add the same video (that is hosted on YouTube) onto a website on more than one page. Is it ok to use the same same video link in each instance? Are there any benefits in doing this? Are there any detrimental effects from an SEO perspective? Thank you

If you have video on your YouTube channel that someone else downloads and then reuploads to their channel, is it duplicate content (even though right now video cannot be crawled)?
