Hello!
I am located in NYC and am actively searching for a company or individual to take control of my SEO. I have attempted to do this on my own and it is just too time consuming and technical for me to handle while also running my business.
I have been burned by SEO companies in the past so I am looking for someone reputable that can be trusted. I am in the service industry in an extremely competitive market.
I am hoping that I can find some recommendations on here on who might be able to assist me grow my online presence.
My websites do currently rank for several key words and as well as local packs. I am looking to expand on that and maintain current standings.
Please help!!!!

Hi there!
Thanks for posting in Q&A. It looks like you've gotten some solid tips!
That said, we really try to discourage posts that can be construed as job listings on this forum. If you're looking to post still, the Inbound.org job board is a great place.
I'm going to lock this thread to further responses. Thanks for understanding, and good luck on the search!

Your best bet is to look at the Moz list of reputable consultants: https://moz.com/rand/recommended-list-seo-consultants/
As with any professional that you're hiring, you need to do your due diligence and ask them questions and ask for referrals.

Moz has a recommended provider list though I believe it doesn't change a lot over the years.
My advice on this is typically the same every time - browse through Q&A, find people others agree with a lot and who seem to know a lot more than you about SEO, look into their profiles and hire from there.
There aren't a lot of great, reliable ways to test how much someone knows or what they can do for your business so a lot of this is based on trust and results. Just be careful in your selection and be reasonable in expectations for the budgets provided.

Try Michael Cottam. His details are on here somewhere. If he can't take it on, he should be able to refer you local.
Hope that assists.

I agree with you and I will definitely be doing my due diligence. I just need somewhere to start and searching for SEO companies on google is useless.
I figured that this being a community of reputable SEO's I may be pointed in the right direction here.

IMHO this is not the best way to go about finding a firm because you are going to get a lot of people saying they can help you and you still must be careful. Make sure you ask for and check references with businesses anyone says they have as clients or had as clients.

I have rebuilt a website on a new domain and followed SEO protocol to maintain authority, but the results and rankings are declining.
We took over an account for a company called knightdoorservices.com who specialize in doors and windows in Edmonton, Alberta. We built them a new website on a new domain: knightdoorsandwindows.com. We did 301 redirects on all of the old URLs so that they now point to the new URLs so most of the authority should transfer over. Additionally, each page has a properly optimized title, h1 tag, a series of pertinent alt tags, and many instances of the focus keyword for that particular page. Additionally, the website loads quickly and has many high authority inbound links pointing to the domain. We have done this for many other companies and have seen their rankings maintain their position or increase. Is there something that I am missing for this company in particular? Thanks so much!

Merging websites
My company (A) is about the merge with another company (B). The long-term plan is not to keep their brand or website. In terms of the merge process, I have been doing a bit of research and this is how I'm thinking about doing it so far., which is open minded about changing... On the homepage of company B, do a 302 redirect to an information page on the same website which details the merger. This will only be for a year. After a year has passed, do a 301 redirect to the homepage of company A Do 301 redirects from all other pages to similar pages on company A. For pages that don't correspond, either do a 302 to the 'merger detail page', or do a 301 to the homepage of company A. Bring across any content that is effective at driving traffic. Contact all high authority websites that have links to company B and request for them to be updated. Any tips/corrections appreciated. Stu

What is best practice SEO approach to re structuring a website with multiple domains and associated search engine rankings for each domain?
Hello Mozzers, I'm trying to improve and establish rankings for my website which has never really been optimised. I've inherited what seems to be a mess and have a challenge for you! The website currently has 3 different www domains all pointing to the one website, two are .com domains and one is a .com.au - the business is located in Australia and the website is primarily targeting Australian traffic. In addition to this there are a number of other non www domains for the same addresses pointing to the website in the CMS which is Adobe Business Catalyst. When I check Google each of the www domains for the website has the following number of pages indexed: www.Domain1,com 5,190 pages

www.Domain2.com 1,520 pages
www,Domain3.com.au 149 pages What is best practice approach from an SEO perspective to re organising this current domain structure? 1. Do I need to use the .com.au as the primary domain given that we are in this market and targeting traffic here? Thats what I have been advised and it seems to be backed up by what I have read here. 2. Do we re direct all domains to the primary .com.au domain? This is easily done in the Adobe Business Catalyst CMS however is this the same as a 301 redirect which is the best approach from an SEO perspective? 3. How do we consolidate all of the current separate domain rankings for the 3 different domains into the one domain rankings within Google to ensure improved rankings and a best practice approach? The website is currently receiving very little organic search traffic so if its simpler and faster to start again fresh rather than go through a complicated migration or re structure and you have a suggestion here please feel free to let me know your ideas! Thank you!0 -

Would some one help me to draw overall strategies on how we can achieve good traffic over one year. We realise that there is no magic wand to improve positions in search ranking for a site which hosts user generated content esp. since we dont know what key words to target. In this context i was looking form some expert suggestion on how we can go ahead with the SEO for the next 1 year .. We are open to paying for the services if you prove that you have the required experience . Otherwise any suggestions from other who have experience in such situations are welcome ...
