Relevant SEO factors
-
Ive been out of SEO for the last few years and I’m just getting back into it wondering whether meta data and black-lining are still relevant SEO. If not what on page factors should I be looking at.
-
Hello,
100% agree with everything Patrick put here.
I just thought I would add that Meta-Data is also relevant and important for conversion purposes. Without inputting Meta-Data Google will just crawl the title on the page and use the first 155 characters in the body in the SERP. Having Meta-Data replaces this and, depending on how engaging it is, it can also increase the CTR. A higher CTR is considered a ranking factor.

Hi there
I am assuming you mean "backlinking"? If that's the case, yes, backlinks are still very relevant to success in SEO, but they have to be relevant, authoritative, and of quality to see success.
Here are a couple of great link building resources:
- The Beginner's Guide to Link Building (Moz)
- The Advanced Guide to Link Building (Quicksprout)
Here are a couple of great SEO onsite resources to use:
- On-Page Factors (Moz)
- SEO 101: The 29-Point SEO Checklist (Bruce Clay)
When it comes to meta data on the website - yes, it's still important. You'll always have your titles tags, meta robots, meta descriptions, etc, all of which you need to be mindful of. However, it should be noted that some have more influence on search than others, while some have none at all. I would read through this resource from Wordstream.
I would also make sure you read up and learn about Schema.org, as there are an incredible amount of opportunities there to help your website perform better in search as well. Lastly, I would take a look at Moz's Ranking Factors 2015 and Searchmetrics Ranking Factors 2015 - each have a list of what can be considered the most important ranking factors based on expert and influencer surveys.
Let me know if this answers your question or if you need more assistance! Good luck!

paid guest posts or purchasing backlink from Authority website is Black Hat SEO or safe?
Hi dear MOZ community members, I am a new blogger. I need some suggestions while link building for the blog: duplicate bills. If I buy backlinks from authority websites through guest posts then is this safe for my website or is it black hat SEO and could lead to penalization by Google? Kindly guide me.

Seems like some of the big sides only give no-follow links now are they still useful for building link authority? Do you have any experience? Thanks

Are links from BBB on non-accredited business pages helping SEO?
I've been doing a lot of research on BBB and the site's value. I know you have to pay for accreditation as well as a link, and most search engine optimizers says it's worth it. I added a company to BBB in October, but I did not pay for accreditation or a link, and yet a link still appears on the business' BBB page. Is this link still a followed link? Does Google view it as an important link? If a non-paid link on BBB is still good, I don't see too many more benefits to BBB accreditation than the trust factor and possibly gaining an A+ ranking.

Does using "pring2web" hurt SEO?
I've never really seen this before but one of my clients has 4000+ links from Print2Web. Their rankings are falling back a bit but I'm wondering if this is part of the problem. They don't seem to say their service is about SEO so I'm not so sure this is counted as spam or not. The main concern is that the next closest number of links from one site is only 97. Has anyone heard of this service? Can someone tell me from experience if using this service has hurt SEO efforts? Thanks!

Should I outsource any SEO work or can I do it all?
My website needs a lot of improvement and we are working on it but I also don't want to fall behind on the SEO work. I am guessing that I can do much of it myself through SEOmoz.org but is there a part that busy folks should get others to do? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Utah Tiger

Question to SEO experts about backlink tracking
Hi, could you recommend the best tool that you use to keep track of all the backlinks you have. I'd imaging there is a good software or website which lists all your backlinks with all relevant info for each link (PR of the linking site, authority level etc) thanks in advance for sharing.
