Google+ SERP Visibility For Non Branded Keywords

Hi,
I've noticed that a competitors Google+ box is appearing on the right hand side of the Google UK SERPs for a non-branded keyword (open air balustrade). Please see attached image.
I've always thought that the Google+ box would only be displayed in the SERPS for branded keywords.
How is this Google+ box appearing for non-branded keywords? How can we improve our chances of our Google+ box being shown instead?

I've just done the same search in Bradford and getting same results. While its unusual its not unheard of.
Its a bit difficult to say what you need to do to appear without looking at your site.

Hi Everyone, I am wondering how to claim authorship for doctors while still using their title "MD." Adding MD to Google Plus profiles goes against Google name policy, but in order to comply with the FTC we need to include "MD" to our doctor's name in our article by-lines. I have sent in many appeals with evidence that they have a degree. I also considered creating a "Google Page," but had the impression that you cannot claim authorship with rel=author tags with a "Google Page," only rel=publish. Do non-spammy authoritative press release sites exist?
Hi there, To help get news out about our business and increase brand awareness, I am considering doing the occasional press release. However doing research on new SEO client backlinks there seem to be a lot of poor quality, spammy press release sites. So I would appreciate some opinions on decent sites please. Obviously we wouldn't be 'article marketing' so only new unique posts would be put out there and not in duplicates either - so one press release to one site etc. Also just curious as to whether this still works for SEO? But this is a secondary concern, because the activity would be for brand awareness - so avoiding rubbish sites will save us time, effort and potential damage. Thanks in advance!

What affects the Google Merchant listing position under the Relevance Filter?
Hi, I set-up a UK Google Merchant feed about 8months ago now which is automated for around 25K products. I am trying to work out why some other sites still rank better than mine in the Shopping listing under the default 'Relevancy' filter. I have both a greater number and better reviews than the competitors and am showing a better price. I wonder whether anyone has any information on whether the following factors affect the listing position under the 'Relevance' filter: 1 - Age of the listing or domain 2 - Historic 'Click-Rate' for domain in Shopping listing 2 - Overall quality of the data feed i.e. do errors or warnings for other products in the feed affect the positions of all items in the feed? 3 - Bounce rate or on-page time of clicks to target site 4 - Diversity of review sources 5 - Google Checkout reviews 6 - Company location in Google Local For an ecommerce site this positioning can make a big-time difference to sales, so I'm hoping someone has run some tests on this they can share, and if not then why not? Hoping someone can throw some light on this, as I can't find a great deal out there on this fundamental revenue stream for me. Simon

Looking for examples of a B2B brand spinning off B2C products on to separate websites
Does anyone have any good examples or case studies? Right now I'm working on a site with both B2B and B2C products crowded onto one site. I'd love to find some examples of companies that have built their online B2B brand separately from their consumer products. I found the Constructive Playthings case study on Marketing Sherpa but nothing else.

Should we have customers like our URL or our Facebook brand page?
(Note: main question in bold) I know this post basically establishes that Facebook shares are not a strong cause of increased rankings. But what about likes? I've searched and read through the forum and YouMoz blog but haven't really found this question answered. We just redesigned our site and we're implementing sharing options in the booking and order completion processes - should we point the Facebook Like button to like our URL or our Facebook brand page (currently with 3,800+ likes)? Seems that a like of the URL would be more direct ranking value (what we're going for), but according to that same post mentioned above, Google doesn't crawl or index FB wall pages... so is all Facebook activity - shares, url likes, brand page likes - for naught? (at least for now, till Google starts using that info)
