Gap in Google PPC Ads & Organic search results - New test by Google?
-
Hi All,
Just noticed an unusual gap in PPC ads and organic search results in google NZ. while searched the same term in Google AU, it wasn't the same.
Did anyone here see something similar? Is this a new test by Google to get more clicks on PPC ads and pushing down organic results?
Looking forward to hear from the community.
Cheers,
Rattan

Thanks Peter for your response.

Honestly no idea at all. We're starting to process some true CTR (clickstream) data at Moz, but it's tough, and nearly impossible for something that's in testing.
-
Thanks Peter for confirming about the test. What do you think about its effect on organic CTR if they increase the gap?
Yes, we have also noticed new ad markers colors too.
Regards,
Rattan

I've seen some reports in the past couple weeks of similar tests here in the US, but it only seems to be testing for now. Google is also testing new link colors, new "Ad" marker colors and a wider left column in the past two weeks, so they must really be running out of things to do

Hi Alick,
Yes, I am aware of this change about 4 Ads. I am concerned about further gap in Ads which is pushing organic search results down. Not sure, how this will effect CTR to 1st position organic results.
After 4 ads on top, CTR to top position organic results have already dropped across most of our accounts.
Cheers,
Rattan

Thanks Clayton! Yes, let me know if you see anything like this in your search results.

Rattan is flagging the "gap" between the top 4 Ads. ie so pushing organic further down the page. It is an interesting observation it may be call out / extension related etc.. not sure.

Hi,
from 19th Feb 16 Google to stop showing ads on right side of desktop search results worldwide. Public statements from Google are suggesting that 4-ad blocks are only occurring on highly commercial searches, but I'm also seeing exception.
Hope this helps.

Interesting - no I have not noticed anything but will keep an eye out for it.
I think it is a given google will push organic ads down the page. we might have 5 tops Ads soon, given how they are trading..

PPC strategies in a competitive ecommerce market
Hello, What's the top 5 things to keep in mind when doing PPC in a competitive ecommerce market? Our competitors are buying PPC leads based on gathering long term customers that only have to get bought once and then they are repeat customers with no more cost. Thus, PPC cost is through the roof in this niche. Anyways, what's the top 5 pieces of advice you would give and you're also welcome to reference any good or harder to find references for me to read or watch. Thank you, Bob

Best practice to separate paid from organic conversions in Google Analytics
I have a PPC campaign for a client with standalone landing pages with a form, not reachable from the website (although in the same domain). I've added the AdWords conversion code to the "thank you" page and I also added a Goal in

Google Analytics whose counter is increased every time the thank you page is reached. This way I can track conversions with both AdWords and Analytics. Is that correct? Should I import back in AdWords the goals from Analytics, as suggested in the AdWords account? I have another landing page with a form in the website, where I send users coming from
organic search, so I set up a second goal in Analytics for the thank you page of this form. Is this the reason why I am supposed to import in AdWords the analytics' goals, so that I could see both kind of conversions in both accounts? But the most important question is: If I send both PPC/organic visitors to the same landing page is there still a way to separate PPC from Organic conversions? Thank you very much for your advice. Adding Coremetrics Tags with Google Adwords
Hello, I would like to know if it's possible to add Coremetrics tracking tags in Google Adwords while the auto tagging functionnality is on. The point of doing this is to be able to track in both Analytics systems the performance of the PPC campaigns while still having Adwords to use Google Analytics conversion data. Thanks, Guillaume

Google Analytics CPC and PPC not Matching
Hi Why do our CPC in Google Analytic not match our PPC in Adword, surely they should be identical? We have Auto-tagging switched on and data in our history is wrong so it is not a timing issue. Thanks

Recommend a company for Google Product Feed?
Hi there, Is there a Google Product feed company you've used and can recommend? We're not looking for anyone to manage the Adwords end of it, just help set-up/submit the data feed. I'm NOT looking for a free option, I'm looking for a reliable, efficient way to get the feeds set-up and updated. Thanks!

Does having a new website design and code affects the SEO
Dear experts, We are in the process of completely revamping our website code and design to a new version of prestashop. Having mentioned that, please note that we are not changing the URL links. So, the same products links will be the same and intact. Only the content is changing. So, how this is affecting my website SEO or SERP? Regards,

Has anyone seen a recent study on % of clicks on Adwords vs Organic results?
HI, I am trying to find out what percentage of people click on organic search results on Google versus the percentage of people who click on advertisements. I have found many references online to studies that supposedly say 70-80% of clicks go to organic results and the rest go to ads, but I have never seen an actual study claiming this, let alone a recent one. Can anyone help? many thanks in advance, Annemieke
