Do duplicate street addresses on 2 website affect SEO?
-
Hi,
We have 2 websites built for one client that has 2 companies running from the same physical location. Would having the same address listed on both websites affect their SEO rankings?
The 2 websites mentioned are linked below:

Thanks for your help!

Hi Anton,
Good question! To my eyes, these appear to be two legitimately unique companies. One installs windows and doors, and the other is selling blinds and curtains. I see you have separate phone numbers for the business, so checking that off my list. Good. Here are the 3 things I'd suggest you make certain of:
-
Be sure NO content is being shared between the two websites. Sometimes, businesses get a bit lazy about this. Audit both sites to be sure they aren't sharing content.
-
Beware of any linking strategy the companies may have undertaken to try to boost one another.
-
Be careful about Google categories. If possible, do not share Google categories between the two businesses. I mention this, because if you're using shared categories between two businesses at the same address, there is some chance that Google could mistake the intent and wrongly decide that this is really just one company trying to pose as two.
Those would be my 3 little provisos. Hope they help!

Hi Anton,
This is absolutely no problem at all. An example of this would be directories registration for Google Local optimization.
1 factor Google local takes into consideration when ranking websites is to scan the amount of times that the address appears in search results. This is the reason we optimize online directories which are essentially duplicates of your address on multiple sites.
For all intensive purposed I would say if is more likely to give a positive effect rather than a negative.
Hope that helps,
Thanks,
Stefan

Agree with Nicolas, There should not be an issue at all. However, it may create a little confusion for your customer search from Google places.

No problem !
We can imagine several companies in the same building for example, so there is no problem.
NB : Perhaps you could add a legal (and/or conditions of use) page on both website.

Duplicate Schema Syntax
Is having both JSON and Microdata markup on one site detrimental to SEO? I'm unsure if Google would read it as spammy to have both.

Is there any way to report a website that is not complying with webmaster guidelines to Google?
Like how we can "suggest an edit" in Google Business Listings, is there any way to report Google about the webmaster guidelines violation?

Research on industries that are most competitive for SEO?
I am trying to see if there is a reputable / research-backed source that can show which industries are most competitive for search engine optimization. In particularly, I'd be interested in reports / research related to the residential real estate industry, which I believe based on anecdotal experience to be extremely competitive.

SEO Company wants to rebuild site
Hello Community, I am a designer and web developer and I mostly work with squarespace. Squarespace has SEO best practices built into the platform, as well as developer modes for inserting custom code when necessary. I recently built a beautiful website for a Hail Repair Company and referred them to several companies to help them with SEO and paid search. Several of these companies have told this client that in order to do any kind of SEO, they'll need to completely rebuild the site. I've seen some of the sites these companies have built, and they are tacky, over crowded and hard to use. My client is now thinking they need to have their site rebuilt. Is there any merit to this idea? Or are these companies just using the knowledge gap to swindle people into buying more services? The current site is : https://www.denverautohailspecialists.com/ Any advice would be appreciated.

Call Tracking numbers effect on Local SEO
Hello Mozzers! With the importance of homogeneous NAP information on Local SEO, could using Call Tracking numbers have a negative effect? Is it better to use Javascript to place the number, or to hard code it? Thanks in advance!

Does Schema Replace Conventional NAP in local SEO?
Hello Everyone, My question is in regards to Schema and whether the it replaces the need for the conventional structured data NAP configuration. Because you have the ability to specifically call out variables (such as Name, URL, Address, Phone number ect.) is it still necessary to keep the NAP form-factor that has historically been required for local SEO? Logically it makes sense that schema would allow someone to reverse this order and still achieve the same result, however I have yet to find any conclusive evidence of this being the case. Thanks, and I look forward to what the community has to say on this matter.

Had SEO Firm tell me to Start Over - pros and cons help please
Hi So I have quotes of 1250 to 2500 a month to run my website, seo wise. What I am told is they will do all facebook postings, 4 blog posts each month, some citations, and site optimization. Those amounts due seem like a lot. Yet I was last to start all over. Basically I was told that because of some bad backlinks, which only a few remain, that you can never recover from an algorithm penalty. And with a Disavow, its like telling Google - penalize me please So the plan was this: $3000 for a new site, and new domain, and then it has no penalties, and I will be ranking in no time. The problem is I am branded. My domain and business name is Bernese Of The Rockies. People know us and we are very respected. So if we create a new site like example.com, I do not want to mislead people. Or if there is a penalty for say a landing page or site, where I am sending people to my main site for more info type of thing. Just looking for your input if this is a common issue, where if you have a non manual, but algo penalty that you must restart? Thank you so much for your thoughts and suggestions.
