Will Google penalise me if i noindex lots of pages?
-
Hey everyone..
I hope you can help!
I have optimised my product landing pages for SEO keywords based on volumes. I've been doing PPC for 3 months now and I can see that a lot of the keywords which drive clicks are not showing as high volume in the SEO volumes. My Adwords quality scores for these PPC keywords are low, 6&7 /10...
So this leaves me with a predicament - do I
1. Re-optimise my LP's for PPC instead of SEO keywords?
2. Create new LP's just for PPC and no index them? (I could use DKI to good effect here I think thus reducing the necessity to have multiple LP's targeting numerous PPC keywords)But my concern was this... will Google frown on me having lots of similar LPs but only 1 indexed?
Or maybe I'm going about this in the wrong manner?
Really appreciate any advice anybody can provide on this!?

Hi Rick,
If you noindex a page, Google can and will still crawl it. They just won't index it.
If you disallow the page, then Google just won't see it. This is the safer option if you have other similar landing pages.

HI Andy
Thanks alot for your response.
Just trying to understand your advice there about using the bots file as opposed to the noindex... surely if the page was removed then it wouldn't get indexed anyway would it?
Thanks again

Hi Rick,
I would be creating custom landing pages, but I would disallow them via robots.txt rather than noindex them. That way you can remove the pages without issue at any stage.
Doing this wont give Google anything to frown about.

Google Product Ads
Hi,
Paid Search Marketing | | ChrisHolgate
I was wondering if I could ask is perhaps someone could give me some clarification as to how the amount we bid on Google Product Ads reflects the product positioning on Google Shopping? We have a Google Product Data Feed which is then linked up to our Adwords account so that we can determine a PPC bid amount. In instances like this it doesn't seem to make sense that one person may be paying 10ppc and another 20ppc when the buyers criteria for sorting merchants was purely down to the price. Since the buyer has the option to sort their products in price from minimum to maximum the sort order cannot be manipulated by Google based on the amount the merchant was paying. As such, how is determining a cost per click figure relevant when the customer is searching by base price low > high on Google Shopping? Surely I should just set the limit to £0.01 and rely on the customer determining the sort order (which ultimately will lead to a higher conversion rate) than allowing Google to skew the results based on bidding 20-30 times this amount? I should state that I'm in the UK. I do realise that a high PPC amount will increase our chance of exposure on standard search pages but my question does relate solely to results listed on Google Shopping. Thanks for your help! Facebook ads to people who like a particular brand or page
Can I target my facebook adds to only those users who like a brand or page? I have an exhibition coming up next year and would like to target those who like the brand page. I know I can target on interests etc but cannot see how I can target a particular page. Any advice greatly appreciated as I am sure others would be interested if this can be done. ThanksJames

Variations of keywords in Google Adwords
Hello. Is it worth running ads for both of the following keywords in Google Adwords (phrase match for both)? 1. "keyword one" 2. "keyword one nyc" If I don't run the second keyword, my ad will still be triggered by a search for "keyword one nyc." So is there a benefit to running both? By the way, the Google Adwords campaign is limited in geography to the NYC metropolitan area. Thank you!

Google Shopping Best Practices
We have a google shopping feed setup for an existing ecommerce website. We now have a new unrelated ecommerce website and want to setup a google shopping feed for that website. Is it best to add that feed to the same adwords account as the previous website or to create an entirely new adwords account login for the new site?

A question for Google Adwords experts
Hi Google Adwords experts, We own the trademarks to some keywords. When you search for these keywords, only our ads will ever appear but they don't appear every time a search is made. They're hardly ever appearing now that we've dropped our bid from $1+ to the minimum first page bid (1 cent in some cases). My question is; are the ads showing less because our bid has dropped so low? If so, why is this? If we own the trademark to the keyword and no one else can display ads, any bid that we submit should be accepted by Google, shouldn't it? If you can include a link to any articles that will give me more info, i'll vote for your answer. Thanks!

New v Returning in Google Analytics with Adwords
I am trying to figure out an issue with Google Analytics. What i am stumped on is I see traffic from AdWords coming in (accounts linked) and I see new v returning user. Does the return visit still show even if a user came back in via direct or organic? Or is it that these return visits are clicking on the ad again to come back as visits and clicks match in the reports?
