Referrals - How is it possible I have 5 new users and 100 sessions over a 2 week period?
-
I have a referral from an email (2), android search(1) and another website(2) but my sessions is 100 over a two week period?
I have NO returning visitors (still session data though?)
Seems unlikely that just these 5 users have generated 100 sessions!!
Any ideas?

Hi this could be also Spam traffic or aka ghost traffic. You can find it easily through Google Analytics. By simply, checking the hostname of these referrals. If the hostname these seems like wired or not set up this could be the case for sure.
In case of, How you can prevent them. It simply add a filter in your Google Analytics. Here is complate guide to set up and these filter: https://moz.com/blog/stop-ghost-spam-in-google-analytics-with-one-filter

Is the time on page more than 0 seconds? If so, it is unlikely to be bot traffic
-
hmmmm I hadn't thought it could be a bot....the metrics show pages visited and time on page but no user data. (apart from above).
-
To check that this isn't bot traffic, what are the engagement stats for these sessions? (I.e. session duration/ pages per session).
If these metrics show zero engagment, it is possible that this is bot traffic.
Alternatively, could this be someone within your organisation or your web developer testing some features?

AMP Session Stitching - How to deal with Google's Client ID AMP Policy
Hello, I recently attended SMX East and the concept of 'session stitching' for AMP was brought up (https://www.stonetemple.com/amp-tech-guide/). I reached out to my development team and they told me they could do it, but that we would need to agree to the new TOS changes and making users aware of then... https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/7486055 Has anyone here done something like this? And if so how did you deal with the Google's Client ID AMP policy? Thank you all! -Margarita

Domain change from .co.uk to .com - do you add .com to the referral exclusion in GA?
Hi Mozzers, Just wanted to double check that when a website domain changes from .co.uk to .com - do you add .com to the referral exclusion in GA? Do you also keep the .co.uk version in the list too? I have updated the property settings to .com Thanks Anthony

Why would on-site search queries show up as referral traffic?
The site analytics have been set up for over a year and suddenly last month there was a huge spike in referral traffic (1100+ sessions). Upon further investigation, the majority of it was coming directly from internally, either as mysite.com or search.mysite.com and the landing pages from the referrals are all /search.html?query=* This was never an issue before so I'm trying to understand what could have changed. I'm following up with the client to find out if their dev team may have changed anything related to their search engine but I'm wondering if there may be another explanation. A few notes: previously mysite.com / search.mysite.com were not in the Referral Exclusion list. I've added them now but this was never an issue before. Thanks in advance!

Is it possible to have too much content?
Is it possible to have too much content? If so, how do we prove (or at least get evidence) one way or the other to whether we are being adversely affected in the SERPs? The only way we could think of is to publish a lot less for a week or two, but nobody is willing to risk it. Numbers wise we are publishing an average of 125 articles a day, with an archive of around 300k fwiw thanks 🙂

Homepage on page 2 for site:domain
Hi all, today I noticed that our homepage is located on page 2 if you do the site:domain query. As far as I know, the site:domain results mirror the importance in the eyes of Google. Some time ago, our homepage was the first result. I have to say that we do not often have changing elements or new content on the homepage, it is more like a static page. But still the most linked to page on the domain... What conclusion can I come to? Is our homepage of lower importance to Google than some time ago? Is it a problem for SEO? As we backed down our advertisments, the traffic from branded keywords fell the last months - could this be an explanation? And, most important: do I have to worry? (Besides, the SEO-traffic is fine and growing..)

Weekly Yahoo #1 rankings seem faulty
For the past 3 weeks I have been getting several #1 rankings on Yahoo or Bing but then when I check it on the same day I get the reports from SEOmoz...I am not even ranked in the top 50 on most. After the 1st week I thought it was just a quick drop in rankings but 3 weeks in a row...something is not right. Is there a problem with SEOmoz yahoo rankings? Boo

How can you tell if your new content has been indexed?
Other than simply doing a search in each case, is there any way I can tell (in Webmaster Tools, for example) if the 500-1000 new pages of content I have added have been indexed and are now appearing in search results? My traffic hasn't risen much, but I know at least a few of them are in there... How can I tell when they're all in?
