Simple Joomla cart suggestion
-
I have a client with an online store which currently offers two products and is hosted on a shared server. As a result of my SEO evaluation his site will be redesigned in Joomla.
Does anyone have experience with or a suggestion for a simple, light cart that would be open to standard SEO changes and work in this situation?
The cart should accept both Google checkout, Paypal and support international customers from Europe, US and Canada.

Hi Kyle.
Magento takes up a lot of resources and seems best suited for sites selling many products. I believe the software supports thousands of items.
The specific need here is for a lite cart. There are only 2 products being sold. There is also a requirement that users only have to log in once at the site. Logging in once to the site and then another time to the shopping cart is undesirable. Therefore only a shopping cart with an established Joomla bridge would be workable.
Thank you for the suggestion but they are not options in this case.

I have had some hit and miss experiences with Joomla so i couldn't give you a great recommendation. However I have had success with a few other open source CMS/Ecommerce solutions that work well on shared servers and have SEO friendly URLS:

Is it important to keep your website home index page simple to rank better?
My website http://www.endeavourcottage.co.uk/ markets holiday cottages and it's grown from my own singular cottage into a small letting agency and I used to rank at best number 3 for the short tailed keywords like Whitby holiday cottages with its drop-down to position 10 on Google.co.uk. So this week I was looking for a UK business to help me improve my rankings and the first thing they said was my home page is detrimental with the listing too many conflicting info with it advertising all 12 properties on it. They suggested a door entry page into the site keeping it simple but when I run it through the analysing tool here on Moz for "Whitby holiday cottages" as an example it came out looking okay. I do the usual things of title tags and meta descriptions for my keywords etc any suggestions or advice would be very welcome thank you Alan

Sitemap created on client's Joomla site but it is not showing up on site reports as existing? (Thumbs Up To Answers)
I am working with a web developer who built our client's site in Joomla. I seem to have a lot of issues with Joomla based sites. Any how, the site is www.pitgearusa.com and when we run site reports it is showing there is no xml sitemap. However he used a popular Joomla plugin for sitemaps called Xmap. Here is their url: http://www.jooxmap.com/ Can anyone provide any advice on what the website developer needs to do in order for the xml sitemap to function and "show up" on reports? Thanks Mashed Up

Responsive Web Design WordPress Template Suggestions
Does anyone have any RWD WP templates they would suggest? It's for a friend of mine that is starting a local solar panel installation company. For the beginning, he likely will not have more than a handful of categories and subcategories. I'd say no more than 50 total pages. Any suggestions would help. He doesn't want to spend more than $50 - $100, but he's not married to that figure if it's worth it. Thanks everyone, Ruben

What Shooping Cart To Use?
Hi Any recommendations on shopping carts? I’m looking for something pretty cheap, not over $150 a month. But I don't want to sacrifice quality to save on loose change. Any suggestions?

Two sites in same industry and which shopping cart
Right. So I suspect I am going to sound paranoid here - but you'll all forgive me right?? I am sure I saw a reply to a question on the Q&A suggesting that it was a bad idea to have two sites in one industry as Google may see it as trying to get two bites of the SERP cherry... is this accurate? I have an existing asp.net site in the maternity wear industry here in Australia and am wanting to start another site to appeal to a different customer base... the market is quite broad. There will be a core list of products that are the same between the sites, but also some quite different products. Content, product descriptions and categorys will be different. I have another website that I bought with reasonable age and links in the industry that I was going to 301 to the new site to give it a kick in the juice. So, not wanting to deceive my customers in anyway, I was thinking I would call it a "division of" or "sister site to" the existing ecommerce site, with a single link back and forward between the two sites. Would there be anything wrong with this in googles eyes? Even with same contact details? They would be run on totally different platforms and hosted by totally different providers. Or would you keep them totally seperate and only have contact details in images? Or a step further and have totally different phone numbers etc? Then the shopping cart - I would love some suggestions on which opensourse cart to use, preferrably one that I can set up myself, and that has a good framework for seo. I want to use schema.org, authorship, seo friendly urls all of which I am having trouble getting out of the developer of my asp.net site.... I don't want the new site to be asp.net Thanks in advance!!

What website CMS system would you suggest?
Hello all! Thanks everyone for making my experience with SEOMOZ so far a great one. There are some really awesome folks here answering questions and we obviously have a great community here. Question We host our sites on dedicated servers with Cpanel. We have a new project that will require that users can log in and create a free Website on a sub domain eg. abc.mainwebsite.com or example.mainwebsite.com So the end user will be able to provide their choice of a sub domain. Then the user can create their website, upload their logo and so on for the free site. (Content management controlled by them) What software would you suggest we use for providing this free service? Thank everyone!

Coding a WordPress shopping cart
I have searched high and low for a light, simple to use Wordpress shopping cart plugin which can use custom templates and work with the transporter and payment gateway i'd like. Unfortunately i haven't found anything. I am currently looking for an example, maybe a tutorial somewhere but can't seem to find anything online, all i can find are advertisements for existing plugins. Can anyone help my any further? I know it's not an SEO related question but i'm out of ideas.
