Indexing but Not Ranking
-
Hello, I have noticed this with some articles.
Here is an example:
http://www.sneakerfiles.com/air-jordan-11-low-closing-ceremony-release-date/For the term "Air Jordan 11 Low Closing Ceremony" I do not show up on the first 3 pages of Google even though the website has a back link to this particular page (maybe more).
It's almost like some pages just disappear.
Also I will rank very high (page 1) for a sneaker that is going to release for months then all of a sudden, about a week from the release, I disappear entirely. Not sure why this is (other in my field also rank on page 1 but stay).
The site has been around for just about 10 years now with a large amount of backlinks (I don't go out and try to obtain backlinks unless it's something exclusive to share with others).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

None at all.

Hi SneakerFiles! Any progress on this? We'd love an update!

It could have to do with the other issue you wrote about, hijacked content. If that other site is taking your content, Google may be seeing it as a duplicate content situation and deciding (for whatever reason) that the other site is in fact the one that should rank. This would result in your site disappearing from the serps for that content. [Assuming that you see this other site appear when your pages disappear.]

Could be because 2 other pages of your website rank for this query:
http://www.sneakerfiles.com/sneakers/air-jordan-11/
http://www.sneakerfiles.com/sneakers/air-jordan-11-low/

Blog hasn't ranked since reposting.
Hey Moz fam! I had a blog that was doing pretty well for the target keyword. Unfortunately, to make a long story short, we had an image in it we weren't supposed to so I unpublished it for a few days while we got that sorted out. Since republishing (with all the same content) it has not gotten a single impression. I inspected the URL and it is totally eligible but nothing in the way of organic traffic. Any ideas on how I can recover?

How do you rank a site in a very competitive market?
Do you focus on article submission, social media backlinks or what?

How to rank highly without much content?
Many pages on the web rank highly - even though they have no keyworded text. They might have listings, or just images. How do they achieve such high rankings? Is it just by getting lots of inbound links?

Can You Get Better Ranking/Conversion by Reducing the Number of Pages?
I am seriously considering reducing the number of pages in a section of our website. We currently have 39 webpages. I'm considering reducing it to 6. The site architecture would make more sense giving recent design changes. And we could focus more attention on improving conversions from these 6 new pages. But I'm considering doing this mainly because I think it'll help us do a better job of communicating to and converting our audience. The new pages would be longish. The existing 39 pages are by no means stubs, but these new pages would be longer. Anyway, what I want to put out for discussion is the SEO impact. What are the good SEO reasons for reducing the number of pages? Can 6 well-done pages out perform 39 pretty-well-done pages? How many queries can one page rank for well? Is this SEO suicide? Honestly, there's a part of me that cannot believe I'm saying this, but I think my heart is in the right place.

Indexing of PDF files
Hey all, I understand the functionality of PDF files being indexed and how to remove them if required so in this post I'm not requiring any advice on 'how to' as such, but i just wanted to get a general opinion/consensus of if you deliberately allow PDF files to be crawled/indexed.

Whether or not you guys optimise the files for search.
If you do disallow them from being crawled and indexed, why?
Generally the pro's and con's you may have found about have searchable PDF files as part of your indexed content.1 -
My Blog pages are out ranking my main website
My blog was on wordpress.com for over 18mnths and I have just moved it to my domain - rankings are charging as a result - up and down! My current concern is my google.co.uk search position for garden art - my home page http://www.gardenbeet.com has been number 2 for over 12 mnths - now my blog is number 2 http://www.gardenbeet.com/garden_design_blog/garden-art/ this is not the best landing page to generate sales from my shop - any suggestions?

WordPress Rankings ?
It looks for me that WordPress sites get to rank better for some reason ... I dont know wil you will agree with this one with me or not. The question is... do they hold their rankings for the certain keyword with a time? or they lose them as fast as they get them? Shouldn't be content rank the same across all platforms? Content is a content and it dosent matter how it's presented? is it the case with google? For example: Create Wordpress site for only 3 products, provide good content for those 3 products... and sell them with some of shopping cart plugins (any recommendations on the plugin?) Will I get rankings faster and keep them?

For a consumer facing blog, how often do you recommend updating content to develop good rankings? I understand that it's really dependent upon the niche/competition, but what are some best practices? Content is expensive. Thanks
