ECommerce Website Internal Links
-
We run an ecommerce website... approx 8K products.
When using the page grader, MOZ tools consistently tell me that I have too many Internal Links on the page.
These are caused from our fairly large menu system, and probably from the sub-category links on the category landing pages as well.I was reading an article that mentioned a no-follow on these Internal links would not really solve the "Too many internal links issue", so wanted to check if anyone has ideas or should I just dis-regard this MOZ suggestion that there are too many in this type of environment?

Thank you both for the information.
All the best.

Agree with Chris. It's more of a recommendation. If you have a low authority site, you might want to take a look at the volume of links. Like if you have 500-1,000 links per page that might be a bit much. But natural navigation menu links are nothing to worry about.
The old directive of "don't have more than 100 links per page" is kind of old, but worth remembering as a heuristic, but don't limit yourself to that if you have a good UX.

Hello,
If your links are from the navigation don't worry about having too many internal links. The Moz tool is more of a suggestion and will not differentiate between navigation links and other on page links. Ultimately you do not want to have a page that appears as an internal link farm, and search engines will distinguish between navigation and other links.
Hope this helps, if you have more questions just ask.
Chris

Dividing a website into two websites
I have a website which talks about Yoga and GMAT classes (2,000 pages). It has blog posts, Faqs, discussions, videos etc.I am planning to fork GMAT content (1,000) pages into a niche website to rank better. Is this a good idea or bad idea? Will Google think niche new Yoga site as duplicate content was there on Dance site in the beginning. I am doing this with assumption that niche website will have higher authority so that I can beat the competitors. What is the best approach to beat your competitors? I am primarily concerned of what happens if I fork half of the website into a new one. Will Google treat new website as a duplicate content website because, this content WAS present in old website and Google will have archives of that. Please help

Alt text / internal linking
Hi everyone A question about best practice when linking from pictures on our homepage - hirespace.com We have an option of using divs with background images (nicer in terms of design) but it means that we can't use anchor text or alt text to show Google what these internal links are about. The other option is to use images which do not allow us as much flexibility in terms of CSS but would allow us to use alt text. There is also an opinion that we should have separate text links at the bottom of the homepage to get the anchor page in. What is best practice in this situation - is alt text worth sacrificing some CSS flexibility for? How important is anchor/alt text for internal linking? Thanks guys.

Too many on page links
Hello, I have a page that isn't ranking very well. http://nicontrols.com/uk/drives-motors/variable-speed-drives According to the MOZ research tools I have too many on page links. I believe most of these are a result of the advanced filtration options on the left hand side of the page. I don't want to remove the filters as they are extremely useful for customers but I am also worried about the number of links Anyone get any ideas about the number of links? Should I care?
