How to Reduce the spam score of the website?
-
@dv123569 Well the first thing to do would be to stop spamming just like you have here!
That would be a very good start
-
Don't worry about the spam score. It's just a third-party metric google does not consider it. If you want to reduce your spam score, then google has its own disavow tool to identify links from any 3rd party tools and disavow it. Recently someone created links on my site [https://unit52.pk/], and I use the Google disavow tool
-
Hi there,
Please start by investigating what is triggering these Spam Score flags on your, or your client's site. To start making improvements please review the factors that make up spam score, and then I would recommend that you prioritise what improvements you can make on your own site and its features, setup, and content with minimal disruption.Best of luck!

@harshvaghani123
Hi there!
First off, we do not recommend disavowing backlinks unless you have a Google penalty. Disavowing is unlikely to improve your Spam Score and, as you've experienced, can affect your site's authority and have wider implications.Before disavowing please review Google documentation, if you see adverse affects you may want to consider removing the disavow.
If you're working on improving Spam Score on your client's site then it is worth explaining that Spam Score reflects features on your site that may correlate with spammy sites. So you will need to investigate what is triggering these Spam Score flags on your client's site and figure out whether there is any room for improvement. The end goal isn't to reduce spam score to 0, but to identify areas for improvement It may be worth exploring your client's competitor's Spam Score to set expectations.
I hope this helps give you some ideas on how to progress! Do let me know how you get on -
Ill give this to you straight up.
It's as simple as this. Spam score is not something Google looks at. For many years now Google's AI is designed to totally ignore bad links. So instead of penalising a site for spammy links they just ignore them.
Why?
Okay check this out.
Google has become a little bit more fair. They have no way of telling if the website owner built the spammy links or if it was some kind of negative SEO attack. So they decided the best thing to do was to just ignore bad links and not take them into consideration.
If you are still concerned about a certain kind of link you can use the Google disavow links tool.
One thing to note when using this tool. Beware. Make sure you know exactly what you are doing with it. You could actually decrease your search engine position if used incorrectly.
Second thing to note. Only use the file upload with this tool once ever 40 days as it make take up to 40 days for Google to crawl your file upon each request. So if you use it on day one and then use it again on day 15 it will reset the time it takes for the disavow file to be crawled again.
There is nothing to worry about in regards to having a high spam score in terms of SERP. It's just a link quality indication.
Hope that clears things up everything for everyone

Hi there! @alisajoycee
Looking in Link Explorer I can see that your Spam Score is 5%, anything under 30% is considered low, and the end goal isn't to get to 0, but rather to identify areas of your site that can be improved
Please take a look at our guide on investigating spam score.
It’s important to remember that Spam Score is NOT a measurement of the spamminess of links pointing to your site. It is NOT dependent on your backlink profile but instead represents the percentage of sites with similar features to the site you’re researching which we've found to be penalized or banned by Google.I hope this helps!

@sivakonireddy_y
Hii,I'm also working on one website which is related to health news. Since 2015 its spam score is 1% which is considered to be a low spam score.
Generally, when you start with a fresh and new website. It will show the 1% spam score. However, if your new website shows a spam score of more than 10% then look at the 27 factors or signals to determine spam score by moz.

@designbump Hi there!
A score of 1%-30% is considered a Low Spam Score.If you look at the 27 factors or signals we use to determine Spam Score (https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/spam-score#spam-score-signals)
There are two that may be impacted by the quantity of outbound links:
20. Number of External Outlinks Spam sites are more likely to have abnormally high or low external outlinks.- Number of Domains Linked-To Spam sites are more likely to have abnormally high or low unique domains to which they link.
However these are just two of 27 factors that are considered as part of Spam Score.
Spam Score represents the percentage of sites with similar features to the site you’re researching which we've found to be penalized or banned by Google. Spam Score is based on our machine learning model which identified 27 common features among the millions of banned or penalized sites in the data we fed it.
It's best used in the context of reviewing the overall quality of your site so that it best serves your users.
If you do make changes please note that Spam Score is updated quarterly, however we don't currently have an exact date of when the next update is due.
I hope this helps!

A score of 1%-30% is considered a Low Spam Score.
A score of 31%-60% is considered a Medium Spam Score.
A score of 61%-100% is considered a High Spam Score.
A high Spam Score for your site, or a site you're looking at, doesn't mean this site is necessarily spammy, or doesn't have great backlinks. It's a sign that you should do some more investigation into the quality and relevance the features on the site you're investigating.

How can a high authority website get away with this?
I found out a website i manage recently lost a link from Business Insider - DA 90+ ... after losing this link my DA dropped 5 points! I read the article and it is absolute GIBBERISH. the link that replaced my link actually links to a site that contains pornographic ads (jumbotrons.net). link: https://www.businessinsider.com.au/ninth-circuit-gay-marriage-quote-2012-12 my questions: 1. how would a company this reputable with a DA 90+ be building pages like this without major penalties? (i realize it is from .au (australia) but from research they own that site too) 2. how exactly does this work? are they selling links to people? did my competitor pay them to replace my link with theirs? why create a page that sounds like robots wrote it 3. would it be a good idea for me to try to get the link back? it certainly was helping considering i lost 5 DA points when i lost the link, but it goes against everything that makes sense in what i've read about toxic links and keeping things clean Curious to learn a little more about these dark arts!!!

What are he benefits of getting 200+ links from DA 40+ non-relevant websites?
I have a client who has an opportunity to sponsor a prestigious national organisation. In return, they will get 200+ links from the websites of the organisation's members. Most of which are DA 40+.None of the linking sites have any relevance to my client's industry.1) How likely do you think it is that Google will view these as paid links?2) Do you feel that there is potential harm in gaining this many non-relevant links in a short time-frame?3) The client wants me to quantify the ranking benefits of gaining these links and calculate a potential ROI. If that's even possible, how would you go about that?Thanks in advance

Why do the best ranking websites not seem to follow SEO best practice, particularly in terms of link building?
I work for an online retailer, which predominantly sells perfume products. In recent months, we have been spending more and more time on SEO, particularly in terms of improving our content, and as part of our strategy we have been working with beauty bloggers in particular (independent reviews, articles etc) to increase the number of links to our website. Whilst we’ve seen steady improvements, we are concerned that some of the key words/phrases we are targeting still aren’t ranking as high as we would like. Some weeks they will move up a few places, but more often than not, they will then move back down. We are more frustrated as we are seeing other websites, which are much poorer in terms of quality content, number of products, etc., ranking quite highly for these terms. From analysing these sites, it seems they are achieving their high ranking from having a considerable number of what appear to be poor quality links. We have been warned countless times to avoid link farms, etc., yet these sites have 100s even 1000s of links coming from suspect sites and it isn’t doing them any harm. Recently, we noticed a lot of our competitors are receiving links from websites such as LinkPartners. When we checked the website, we could see that whilst it appears to be a fairly SPAMMY website, its domain authority (67) is actually quite high. Should we base our decision about whether or not to place a link somewhere solely on how high their domain authority is, i.e. would it be more beneficial to us to have a link with what appears to be a link farm if their domain authority is high, than what appears to be a fantastic independent beauty blog with a low domain authority? Or should we avoid these sites whatever the circumstances? It’s slightly confusing for us as we are being warned about placing links on websites as google is apparently going to penalise us for it, but then we see our rival sites doing well by simply placing links everywhere they can.

14,000 blog comment spam links placed on one domain!!
Trying to clear up a manual link penalty a client has received and I have found the client's site has been blog commenting 14,000 times on just one domain!! I need to do a reconsideration request and show Google that I have cleaned up the mess (the client has 50k backlinks, of which I am not happy with about 75% so far!!) but I cannot expect the website in question to go through 14k pages. What would people advise here. Would you state the sheer number of links on this site in the reconsideration request and use the disavow tool? Doesn't this suggest that I have been lazy and not put the effort into to clearing things up up

Duplicate content when uploading articles on other websites
Hi, We regularly write articles on our website and then submit them to different websites with link backs or sometimes without link backs. If google crawls these websites and our website, will it penalise us for duplicate content? Does it make a difference if we put link back to our site or not? If Google sees it as duplicate content, what should we do as a solution? Thanks
