I seem to have about 10 ### tags in the sidebar. Should they be removed?
-
A plugin inserts H3 tags in sidebar 'read more' type links. They are tangentially related to the content (as the whole site is on ice hockey), but not directly related. Will Google think these are part of the content and be a little confused on the subject matter or is it smart enough to realize this is Sidebar material? Do I need to take action/be concerned?
- thanks

Hi there,
In Google's basic SEO Starter Guide, they do specifically recommend that you "use heading tags appropriately", and to use them to emphasize important text. They state that multiple heading sizes creates a hierarchical structure for your content, making it easier for users to navigate through your document.
That said, it may not be a huge deal, but I might suggest taking care of the issue just to be on the safe side.
Best,

According to my personal experience, you do not have to worry
It will not hurt your ranking
-
That was my general feeling as well, thanks for the opinion.

In my opinion, because they are H3s it should not be a problem. Googlebot should be able to tell they are part of a sidebar widget and, as long as they are to different pages and having unique anchor text, having the sidebar links in an H3 should not affect your rankings negatively in any way.

Removing Non Essential Scripts in WordPress to Boost Speed
If this is a duplicate post or someone has already asked this i do apologize. Ive been seeking help in increasing our page speed for sometime now and to no avail. https://tools.pingdom.com/#5e9dc9ab78000000 - Seems our page has just too many scripts which is a drag on the load time. We have a dedicated server and dont think its the issue as other websites on there load just fine.

Something about this website www.catdi.com that just makes it top heavy. I've tried a CDN and that didn't work in fact it made it slower.. My question is i believe there's a way to remove, or combine all these scripts that are increasing our load time? Carlos3 -
What heading tag to use on sidebars and footers
Hello, I have some awareness of how to use H1, H2 and H3.
On-Page Optimization | | kowston
H1 only once per page as the main page heading.
H2's should be subheadings, H3's are sub-sub headings of the and so on.
This structure gives hierarchy and opportunities to use additional keywords in an order of priority. I can clearly understand how this would work in an article but what about other content on the page such as global/frequently repeated elements like sidebars and footers? I see sites - and in particular, I have examed SEO focused sites - that use H3, H4 and H5 in these instances seemingly giving themselves scope to use at least H2 tags as part of the page content and break out of the structure hierarchy when dealing with sidebars and footers. I suppose this could signal theses headings are sections of the page that are less relevant than the main article content but that is just an assumption. I don't know what is correct.0 -
Many have stolen our content. Rewrite vs. DMCA content removal?
Hello, We own a medical tourism website and many other sites have stolen (copied and pasted) our content. Our content is more than 2 years old, so we thought we could rewrite the content - but Which is a more wiser decision from you guys' experience? Archive our current content at a different URL and upload a fresh content in the current URL Claim our originality to Google and ask the stolen sites to remove our content. Thank you and appreciate your time.

10 Mobile Pages. 5 Desktop Pages. Canonnical to where?
I have a mobile site with more pages than the desktop site. Normally I would just point the page equivalents to the desktop site using the rel canonnical tag. What about the 5 pages? Do I just leave them be? Thanks

Fewer keywords in title tag?
Hello, I have a title tag that includes three keywords and has a total of 59 characters. The third keyword is not very important. If I eliminated the third keyword, leaving the first two (for a total of 48 characters), would the ranking value of the first two keywords increase? Does including the third keyword dilute the value of the first two? Thank you!

Using product prices in title tags & other ways to improve CTR
I'm about to launch a new website and was just wondering if anyone had tried this before; On product pages i thought it may be a good idea to include prices, with a message to save more when the customer buys more. Something along the lines of this; [Product name] at/from [Brand name] - Only [Price] [Buy # to save] Etc. Does anyone have any experience with using this in title tags (along with some variation of offering a saving when bulk buying) etc? Any comments would be hugely appreciated! Thanks! [EDIT] Should also just note that we are very competitive on pricing - Looked at more than 70 competitors and we're offering better quality products (than the ones from [supposedly top] competitors we've sampled) for lower prices.

Confirmation regarding canonical and syndication google tags
Hi, We are in the process of improving our CMS upstream to resolve our duplicate content issues. We were hit pretty hard by the Panda update. One of the steps we have taken is implementation of the canonical link tag across all domains in our site. You see, we are a news release service with muliple channels and websites to represent each. The problem is that a client will submit a release and in many cases the news item is relevant to multiple channels I.E. multiple websites under the same IP range. Site Examples:
On-Page Optimization | | jarrett.mackay
www.hotelnewsresource.com www.restaurantnewsresource.com
www.travelindustrywire.com From a user perspective, it makes sense that they should be able to access the article from the site they are browsing without being redirected to the site we feel carries the most relevance. We hope the canconical tag will resolve this issue for us. I have also read about the syndication tag and was looking for feedback or recommendations if we should implement that also, but it may be overkill as the two tags objectives seem to be similar. I guess my first question is if the syndication tag is only used by Google News. Secondly, and a little off topic is that we also offer an API and like many other sites, I have read, our content partners are now doing better in primary and long tail rankings even thought we are the original source. My assumption is that we should modify the API to force using both caconical and syndication tags as well. Lastly, I´m curious if anyone has tested the original source tag and if we should implement that as well. Thanks everyone. Jarrett0
