Gained a number of new 'do-follow' links - Good or Bad?

So, my client's site is on a subdomain of the parent site and there were a number of links previously pointing to the subdomain site from the main site which were all no-follow so were purely for referral/traffic benefits.

Around the end of February, the main site changed all the links to 'do-follow'. Is this likely to have caused the decline we've recently seen in organic traffic to the site and a drop in rankings? I'm curious as to how that could have affected the site as we didn't know and have only just found out about it but I'm not sure how to show that it's led to a decline.

Any help is appreciated!

A few keywords my company would like to go after are: Mobile homes for sale Manufactured homes Mobile Home Dealers. The question is should we create unique content around these keywords then market it heavily in hopes to rank that new individual page / post OR should we just be doing outreach for back links and anchored text to link to our primary domain that is already much stronger with a 38 DA? Are stackoverflow links follow or nofollow?

I've tried to find the answer to this question myself, but I've found differing opinions. The conclusion I've come to is that Stackoverflow allows follow links when the user that posts the link has sufficient reputation or if the link receives user validation. Has anyone else here used Stackoverflow.com that knows the answer to this question? 🙂

Do you need a place to ditch bad links?

This is not a question as such, more a gift 🙂 I have registered a domain name to ditch bad links. For example, let's pretend I have a page on my site: www.mydomain.com/viagra and have never done any good SEO to promote this page, just a load of spammy directory links. The page used to rank for Viagra but then Google took manual action and I lost my ranking. Booo! Now the page is of no use to me until I get all these links removed and the manual action revoked. Even then, I'll be starting from scratch re-building good links to the page. Here's another option, simply re-direct the url to badlinksbin.com and say goodbye to all those spammy links. This bypasses the lengthy link removal process. Warning: I wouldn't recommend using this method if you have some good links in the mix, unless you can contact the site owners and get the links changed. And, don't forget to change the name of the url first so the Viagra page still exists on your site. As I've already set this up, I thought no harm sharing it and letting you guys use it too. I hope it helps some people.

Whoa 1000's of links from Industrial Interface?

Hello all! I just took over an account, and in webmater tools the site has thousands of links to its homepage from a site named http://www.industrialinterface.com. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing. (thinking bad) Tried to contact the webmaster, and the contact form does not work, so that right there is a bad sign. Does anyone have an opinion on industrial interface? Anyone have luck in reaching them? Appreciate the feedback! Dorian

Brand new website, should I nofollow almost all internal links?

Hi, As I am creating a completely new website for my employer (she will have zero incoming links, even the URL will be different), would it be advantageous to allow follows to the other internal pages from the home page, but disallow follows on all other internal links on each subsequent page? So, for example each page will have this many internal links: Home page: 5 (all 5 service pages) Recruiting: 1 (home link) Services: 1 (home link) Talent Assessment: 1 (home link) etc. Does this make sense to bolster the home page until we can get some links coming in?

I'm hiring a link building company - need help choosing

I asked this question before and got mixed feedback. Companies vs. Freelancers. Well I have a couple questions here. At a certain point it is definitely worth going in house, but what about the knowledge that we could gain from working with a big agency? Does that really add any value? Can I hire a freelancer and trust him as much as a big agency? or vice versa? Can I hire an agency and trust them as much as a freelancer? I have also been advised to make sure they offer competitive / site analysis as a first step, AND inform you of exactly how many links they plan to build per month, how much time they will dedicate to you and your account, expect turn around times, and light strategy details that they would likely use. New PDF Guide. On My site or linked by blogs?

Hi experts, I created a new worth guide about food. Its purpose it to improve backlink by adding website's URL on PDF's footer (spider crawls that one, is it true?). I want send my guide to trusted blogs so users can download new pdf guide on the web. Is it the best way to gain popularity and let my backlinks grow? Link DIrectories - Is it a Good Idea with recent Panda Updates

Yo! I have been doing a tonn of research on a few of my top competitors and have noticed that a decent percentage of their links are from link directories. Most of these directories seem organized and the links on the pages are relevant to the selected category. These pages offer both free link submission and a paid feature link submission. My question is that is it a good idea to submit my site to these directories with the recent Panda update(s). I have read a bit about it, but still do not fully grasp the overall picture of it. Any thoughts or suggestions?
