Mobile and Desktop Speed
-
I'm having issues on my site with mobile and desktop speeds. Both are under 35, which is very poor. This is due mostly from photo's being too large. My question is, in order to make the site look right the height of the pixel is 750 in all pics, in order to evenly line up. How do you speed up the pages without changing how things will look on the photos being lined up correctly? This is a Shopify site.

Hey ThreeDrops... Both George and Roman made some great points!
Yes you definitely want to get that page speed up!! 35 is far too slow. If you have access to Adobe Photoshop you can easily go through and "Save for Web & Devices" or on newer version of PS you go to File > Export > "Save for Web (Legacy)
This allows you to control the size and quality of your images. Keeping them as sharp as you need while reducing the file size. Here is a great article I found that goes into more detail.
Hope this helps!

Hey ThreeDrops,
I had issues with this too when I started dealing with moving from print to web images. Here is a quick guide to help you understand the difference between pixels and DPI: https://99designs.com/blog/tips/ppi-vs-dpi-whats-the-difference/
The quality level you need to maintain for web is basically 72dpi and if you use the right types of compression and file type you can greatly reduce those JPEGs you're probably using. Here is a quick tool to do this: https://tinypng.com/
Best of luck!

Seeing different Google 3-Pack results on Android mobile browsers vs. IOS mobile browsers. Why is this?
I am researching new SEO recommendations in lieu of Google's controversial "3-Pack" update. I am noticing very different results in the Google 3-Pack on a android mobile browser when I do a local search query versus a query in apple mobile browser. For example if I do a Google search for "Seattle Sporting Goods" I am able to see direction links and full address numbers for businesses in the 3-Pack. However the same query on a Android phone provides only "teaser" street name results, no direction links but still shows business reviews. Is it possible that the 3-Pack update is still in flux? Shouldn't the Google 3-Pack show uniform results across all different mobile browsers? This could impact my SEO recommendations.

Adding Photos vs Page Speed
I need to add more photos to our site, since I believe it'd be a better user experience, but I don't want our page speed to slow down. Is there an optimal size or quality photo parameters that work best for this? If so, is there a site or service someone would recommend over photobucket to get them? Thanks, Ruben

Does displaying a mobile number for business hurt local SEO?
Perhaps a silly question but could someone please clarify if displaying a mobile number in the main site or Google places etc would hurt local SEO? Is having a regional landline/fixed telephone number a ranking factor? EDIT: This is for a UK site, does anyone have experience of this is UK please?

Google Places for Mobile Businesses in many cities
How do you set up Google Places account for mobile businesses where the drivers get calls from their homes and service customers in their respective cities? The problem is, the drivers don't want to list their home address as their business address, yet they still represent a service for a particular city. Any ideas?

Do I need incoming links to my mobile site, if I want to rank for mobile search?

Do search enginges prefer pages with mobile websites on the mobile phone?
Let me explain what I want to know: Somebody searches e.g. for a hotel on his mobile phone. Do the search engines rank websites with special mobile pages better than others? I am not considering the local factor here (let's say there are hotels nearby with or without mobile websites). If not, is there a trend for that? Does anyone have some datas / examples / experience about that?
