Ecommerce site Header tag compulsory to follow till h6?
-
Hello Experts?
-
Header tags for homepage, category, product pages is it required to be have from h1 till h6? If No...then w3c validator will give me Warning and it will never Pass my site so?
-
Do google say h1, h2, h3..etc should be in sequence only? As per my site design I cannot define h1 always on top it can be after h2 or h3 so?
-
h1 can be only 1 for per page but it is fine h2, h3 etc multiple for same page?
-
At listing page to give all 30 products names as h3 is fine or it is not correct way?
-
For ecommerce site what is the best header tags you suggest? I mean till h3 is fine or h1 also fine?
-
Do header tags helps google in crawling ? or for ranking purpose? or header tags should be best for blog not for ecommerce site?
Thanks!

1) Header tags for homepage**, category, product pages is it required to** be have from h1 till h6? If No...then w3c validator will give me Warning and it will never Pass my site so?
The only requirement is a unique H1 on every page, the rest (h2, h3 and etc) if necessary.
2) Do google say h1, h2, h3..etc should be in sequence only? As per my site design I cannot define h1 always on top it can be after h2 or h3 so?
Not in sequence but properly nested. It means that H3 comes after H2, not H1. And H4 only after H3, not after H2 or H1. But you can use several h3's or h2's in a row.
Here's an example:
H1 Heading (My favorite cars)
** H2 subheading (Porsche 911) **
** H2 subheading (Nissan Nismo)**
** H3 (Nismo GT-R)**
** H3 (Nismo Z)**
** h4 (Z 350)**
** h4 (Z 370)**
** H3 (Nismo Juke)**
** H2 subheading (Mazdaspeed)**
** H3 (Mazdaspeed 3)**
** H3 (Mazdaspeed 6)**
** H2 subheading (Toyota AE-86) **3) h1 can be only 1 for per page but it is fine h2, h3 etc multiple for same page?
as many as your structure requires as shown above.
4) At listing page to give all 30 products names as h3 is fine or it is not correct way?
If preceded by h2. if not, use H2.
5) For ecommerce site what is the best header tags you suggest? I mean till h3 is fine or h1 also fine?
H1 is mandatory. Next use H2, next H3 if necessary
6) Do header tags helps google in crawling ? or for ranking purpose? or header tags should be best for blog not for ecommerce site?
Yes, improves the crawl rate and lets google better understand the content of your page.
Thanks!

Hi,
This whiteboard Friday will be really useful to answer your questions.
Rand says "I'd say H1 and H2 are best practices, but they are not going to transform or massively help your rankings"
Basically, from a user point of view, always have a H1 to tell them what the page is about. H2s help to break up the content to define section titles etc... all others? I'm not personally fussed by them as they don't add much weight in terms of SEO but I do use them from a customer point of view to help break up the text where appropriate.
Always put your H1 at the top - it just makes sense that you're going to name what the page is about at the top.
When pulling through to a page listing, I'd not add in any heading styles to be honest, else you could have a lot of H3s etc. Definitely don't have more than 1 H1 on a page... ever.
Start by thinking more about what your customers want to see and what would make their journey easier than trying to appease Google. What makes a customer happy should make Google happy. Google want you to have a good quality site.

Using h2 for category on ecommerce website
Hi, I am working on an ecommerce site and the main category - lets call them car widgets - is using a h1 at the top of the page which is great. There are 4 sub categories on the page - lets call one of them red widget. The only content on the page is the sub category name and an image. Should the sub category red widget use a h2? Thanks S

SEO HTML: Header tags
A few of quick SEO questions regarding header tags: More than one tag per page. If there is more than one tag on a page: are both taken into consideration and what if they contain the same keyword? Eg on the page: http://en.emilea.be/childrens-clothes/molo/boys/cardigans-and-sweaters/ MoloBoysCardigans & sweaters ... Molo childrens clothes Is the 2nd considered when indexing the page? Since both tags contain the same keyword (but in different context) is this a SEO plus or minus? Nested tags inside header tags. I presume the nested tags are omitted, but if there is no white space between the tags are these concatenated? <span tag='molo'>Molo<span tag='boys'>Boys<span tag='cardigans-and-sweaters'>Cardigans & sweaters</span tag='cardigans-and-sweaters'></span tag='boys'></span tag='molo'> How is the above header processed? MoloBoysCardigans & sweaters

2) Molo Boys Cardigans & sweaters Order of header tags.
How important is the order of header tags and how do they influence the following content. F.ex. if the top part of the page contains multiple tags and the middle part contains 1-2 tags. Does this affect the importance of the tags and would it be better to use tags above? Thanks in advance.0 -

Craw structure for web site about jobs?
Hi there, we have now a client who has a job offering web site. There are many craw errors in it. My question is how should the url structure in a jobs website look like and which pages should be indexed? What is the best way and tips for optimizing a job website? Now the posted jobs pages are dynamically like: examplejob.com/detail-job/1891222223/Careers-for-Mens---Womens/Experienced-Web-Design-Need I see many job websites allow their job offers to be indexed and may be this is useful because some people find jobs also when directly search in Google. Are they using dynamically urls for that? And also my related question is what happens when the job offer expires? When Google craws that page again should it be redirected to 404 page or the original job offer text should be there and just to be added info that this job offer has expired? Otherwise If only it's written that it has expired may be there will be too much duplicate content on many many pages.

tagged as duplicate content?
Hello folks, I'm new to SEOmoz . I was looking at our Crawl Diagnostics and found that some of our blog posts that have been commented on were tagged as duplicate content. For example: http://thankyouregistry.com/blog/remarriages-and-gift-registries/ http://thankyouregistry.com/blog/remarriages-and-gift-registries/comment-page-1/ I'm unsure how to fix these, so any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Ecommerce: content on category pages
I have to optimize some online Shops and after Panda I really don't know what to think about thin content on product overview pages anymore... used to be that we could improve our rankings easily just by adding 1-2 sentences on such a page. This always worked for non-overly competitive terms. Now It feels like it doesn't work any longer, but I couldn't put my finger on it and I don't have the resources to test. Here's an example of what I mean: http://www.geschenkidee.ch/wandtattoos/aus_aller_welt.html

I would add max. 3 lines of text directly over the product thumbnails. What do you think? Is it worth adding some text on a product overview page or do I not even have to bother post-Panda?0 -
Site-wide keyword density
A colleague of mine was saying that he has been able to get top ranking for a high traffic term by using variations of that head term on multiple pages that are associated with the main page. For example,he would optimize a landing page for the high traffic word "Construction." He would then build pages under this landing page that are optimized for variations of this word: "Construction facts," "Industrial Construction Companies," "Construction Resource Allocator" etc. His theory is that the subpages add credibility with spiders that the root page is the best for that root page. This doesn't seem like it would work, but I'm curious as to what other people think.

Are a lot auf tag-sites in the index a bad signal for low quality? (Panda Update)
Hello everybody, first of all please excuse my bad english. I'm from Germany - I try my best. 😉 The case: I have a Wordpress SEO project which rankings very well. A this moment I have all "archive sites" like "archive", "category" und "tags" indexed. I use the more-Tag for every archive/category/tag site - so duplicate content ist not really a problem, but in view of the Panda Update, which surely arrives in Germany soon, I wonder if all this Tag/Archive/Category Sites in the index maybe seen as low quality und can hurt the ranking of my whole site. Low quality because: With using the more-tag the site are just a list of internal links with content snippets. I have 500 articles und 700 Tag Site (all in the index). So my fear is when google (with Panda Update) looks at my site und sees all this (maybe) low quality tag-sites in the index I get penalised because there is not a good proportion between my normal (good quality) Articles und the archive/tag sites. I hope you guys can understand my thoughts. Do I have a legitimate fear that the mass of tag-site in the index could be problem? Are there any data from the USA, how blogs mit Tag-Site in the Index rank after the Panda Update or if sites which contains of internal Links mit content snippets - like these tag site - are low quality in Google eyes? Or I'm worring to much? Thank you very much! Oliver
