      If there is a local business that thrives on ranking nationally for people searching for their services in that location, do you target the business's actual service areas or target nationally?

      For instance, a hotel in Denver, Colorado.  Would the areaserved markup be:

      "areaServed":[{"@type":"State","name":"Colorado"},{"@type":"City","name":"Denver"}]

      Or

      "areaserved":"USA"

      The "geographic area where a service or offered item is provided" would be denver, colorado. But we would be looking to target all people nationally looking to travel to denver, colorado.

      Or would it be best to target it all, like:

      "areaServed":[{"@type":"State","name":"Colorado"},{"@type":"City","name":"Denver"},"USA"]

        We are just optimizing our business with different local branches and are going to add according json-ld schema markup for that shortly, so we are facing similar questions...

        Honestly I think that this particular setting will have a minor impact. I would go for Denver instead of USA. By the way the could also come from outside the USA...

        People will search for "hotel Denver" or just "hotel" if they are already in Denver.

        To do Google My Business the right way, i.e. clean up all unclean NAP citations if there are some is probably more effective. Maybe you could add Denver also in Google My Business company name... I know its not 100% clean and not adhering to their terms but I always got away with it. Moreover different people at Google's My Business support who noticed that during calls regarding other thinks mentioned it but said that it was OK like this. Its a rather strong signal and works very well actually...

          Unsolved Duplicate LocalBusiness Schema Markup

          schema markup schema local seo technical seo

          Hello! I've been having a hard time finding an answer to this specific question so I figured I'd drop it here. I always add custom LocalBusiness markup to clients' homepages, but sometimes the client's website provider will include their own automated LocalBusiness markup. The codes I create often include more information. Assuming the website provider is unwilling to remove their markup, is it a bad idea to include my code as well? It seems like it could potentially be read as spammy by Google. Do the pros of having more detailed markup outweigh that potential negative impact?

          Can I use Schema zip code markup that includes multiple zip codes but no actual address?

          The company doesn't have physical locations but offers services in multiple cities and states across the US. We want to develop a better hyperlocal SEO strategy and implement schema but the only address information available is zip codes, names of cities and state. Can we omit the actual street address in the formatting but add multiple zipcodes?

          In local SEO, how important is it to include city, state, and state abbreviation in doctitle?

          I'm trying to balance local geographic keywords with product keywords.  I appreciate the feedback from the group! Michael

          Do I need to change my country og:locale to en_AE

          Hi MOZ, I have a site that is aimed at the English speaking market of the United Arab Emirates. The language tag is currently set to lang="en-GB" and the og:locale also set to en_GB. The domain is a .com and aimed at the whole world. Should I be trying to target en-AE and en_AE for these tags instead of GB?

          Content writing for single entity business (The use of I)

          Most of my clients consist of single entity law firms in which my clients repeatedly use the pronoun "I" to describe every service they provide. I have always preferred using the business name The Law Office of..." put lawyer name here". Is it ok to repetitively use the pronoun "I" in the content. To me it feels lack luster and childish not very professional, however I have a hard time convincing the lawyers of this. What are your thoughts? Can good content be written with the repetitive use of "I"? If not is the business name sufficient or maybe another pronoun? I will be showing responses to my clients if that is ok.

          Subdomain versus Subfolder for Local SEO

          Hello Moz World, I'm wanting to know the best practices for utilizing a subdomain versus a subfolder for multi location businesses, i.e. miami.example.com vs. example.com/miami; I would think that that utilizing the subdomain would make more sense for a national organization with many differing locations, while a subfolder would make more sense for a smaller more nearby locations. I wanted to know if anyone has any a/b examples or when it should go one way or another? Thank you, Kristin Miller

          Local Business Schema Markup on every page?

          Hello, I have two questions..if someone could shed some light on the topic, I would be so very grateful! 1. I am still making my way through how schema is employed, and as I can tell, it is much more specific (and therefore relevant) in its details than using the data highlighter tool. Is this true? 2. Most of my clients' sites have a footer with the local business info included on every page of their site (address and phone). This said, I have been using the structured data markup helper to add local business schema to home page, and then including the footer markup in the footer file so that every page benefits from the local business markup. Is this incorrect to use it for every page? Also, I noticed that by just using the footer markup for the rest of the pages in the site, I am missing data that was included when I manually went through the index page (i.e. image, url, name of business). Could someone tell me if it is advisable and worth it to manually markup every page for the local business schema or if that should just be used for certain pages such as location, contact us, and/or index? Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks
