Would 2 Google Places locations help my Google Places ranking?
-
Hi.
Our agency office is located in a "bad" zip code relevant to active businesses who would need our agency services. In a nutshell, we get really bad inquiries who can never afford our services...and it's coming directly from the Google geolocation function.
We plan to relocate our offices within 1 year. Would it help us in Google Places if we created a "new" physical office location to cover up the "bad" one we are currently in? We could use a paid location like a UPS Mail Center physical address that is located within a more desiring zip code.
Thanks for any input.
Jay

I've had two situations with Google Places that might help you.
First, for some reason they have chosen to use the state road number for the name of our street even though Google Maps shows both state road number and street name. The street name has been in effect for more than five years. I've tried for several months to get it changed. Places refers me to Maps and says I have to be the owner, which I am, to make changes and Maps won't quit calling the street the state road number which no one around here knows or uses. So far nothing I've done has fixed it.
Second, we have a legal name and a dba for our business. I mistakenly made submissions for both to Google Places--a duh moment. It took several months to fix it.
Taking the "speed" of changes to listings in Google Places into consideration, I suggest that you wait until you have a physical location with a landline phone. Otherwise, you will have to make two changes (to P.O. Box and then to physical address) which could take a long time to happen. Verifying with a phone number is really fast.

Michael. We only have the 1 location but our current location is the one that is located in the non-desirable business zip code. My thought was to establish a mailbox location in the new zip code we are moving to next year and use that new address now to replace our current zip code location for Google Places. Jay

Jay,
I'm not an expert, so take my recommendation with a grain of salt.
If you legitimately have two business locations then you should by all means list all of them - with an accurate description of what they are. This includes warehouses, retail locations, etc. If a customer is looking for your warehouse (for example) I don't see how listing it in Google Places is manipulative. Just make sure you describe the location accurately.

Hey Dan.
Thanks for your input on both questions...really good advice. I agree with you on the Places response...I would be worried about appearing deceiving and I do not want to appear such.

I would be very careful with this. I had a friend who was temporarily removed from Places for doing a similar thing.
It seems to me, the way things are going with Places, is it should follow the logic:
1. "I have a business with a physical location" ----> 2. "I should be sure its listed on Places"
You should read through the guidelines for Google Places to know what you're getting into, and if you do try this, use two different Google accounts maybe? If one listing gets banned, all of them do under that same account, as far as I understand.
I'd ultimately try to find more creative ways to appear in the desired searches though.

Best way to manage multiple Google My Business accounts as a marketing agency?
As marketing agency we have for each client a Google My Business account. This means that we have more than 100 Google My Business accounts. We know that GA has a limit of 100 analytics accounts (free version), but is there a limit in Google My Business too? For now, we have created multiple accounts that own different Google My Business accounts of our clients. Can I just change all the different e-mail accounts of our marketing agency and change it to one? So we can manage all the Google My Business accounts of our clients in one e-mail account?

Google Places Bulk Uploader
Hi we have 15 stores we want to transfer over to our main google places account. We can only claim them with google places bulk uploader. So from what i have read, i have to add each store to the spreadsheet then request bulk upload. Since these google places listings already exist, will the listings i create (via the spreadsheet) simply merge with the old ones? Or could there be a chance of the creation of duplicate listings (how can you avoid this). And is it necessary to add latitude and longitude points (because you don't have to add them)? The goal is to add the old listings into a our Google Places account, and can only use the bulk uploader. Thanks,

Google+Local Reviews have gone? Any ideas?
Hi Since Google switched places to Google+ Local lots of the reviews that were on the listing are no longer showing? A customer of mine brought up the point when visiting the store today, when they are logged into Google they can see their review under Your Activity, however when they are logged out the only review is listed under 1 Review from everyone and the review is no longer being shown? Any ideas on what is going on? Also with local search / places optimisation has the best practice guidelines changed now that is transformed into Google+ Local? If so it would be great to share any links on getting the most out of this new + local service

Multiple Location Pages and Duplicate/Thin Content
I have a client who has 10 locations throughout Colorado. Each has it's own claimed Google Places profile. I know that Google is encouraging a unqiue page on your site for each individual office location, and then aligning each location's page with it's Google Places profile. Could this create a duplicate content or thin content issue though? Each location's page on the site would have essentially the same or similar content -- just with a unique address and phone number. They're a law firm, so the company information is the same across all locations, other than the address and phone number. We could re-write the content so it's not completely the same, but for 10 locations that gets a little crazy, and still doesn't create truly unique/original content. If we get too creative with the content on each page, it would be counterproductive because these are landing pages so i want them to have the firm's major selling points to help convert. Also, the firm is ranking very well in organic and blended/local search for Colorado terms and all individual locations EXCEPT Denver, the biggest and most important market by far. Trying to move from page 3 to page 1 in Denver is important enough to warrant making the necessary changes. I just don't want to damage all the progress we've already made. I look forward to your feedback! Thanks!

Google Places in multiple languages
Hi how are you? I work with a big hostel network in South America. When i look for 'hostel (city)', some results from Google Places appear. The profile in Google Places is in english, but i searched it from google.com.ar. Is it possible to have Google Places' profile in several languages? Thanks! Best wishes, Ariel

[local seo] How to compete against e.g. yellowpages on Google Rank 1 - 4?
Hi Folks, How to compete against the big SEO-powered pages like Yellowpages in the SERPs? I mean, they have thousands of Rd -> Rd Links as well as super Page and Domain Authority. How has a let's say Dentist or Electrician a decent chance to compete against those? Does Google give credit to them because of the Content they have on their page? These yellowpages totally take the fun out of it for my clients. Answeres would really much appreciated. Thank you. For me it feels like Don Quijote.

Why does google places keep deleting the categories i set?
I have probably set them for each of my storage locations over 20 times now. They stick for a week, only to find them have all been deleted once again. Also, why are my competitors able to choose custom categories, where as I am not?
