Ranking for combined version of keyword but not separated version
-
Hi All,
My site is currently ranking on page 1 for the term "golfholidays" but is ranking at the bottom of page 3 for the term I am targeting and have optimised for, which is "golf holidays". Does anyone have any experience with the combined keyword ranking above the singular version? Nowhere on my page doesn't it mention the term "golfholidays" and backlinks to my site mostly use the anchor "golf holdiays"
Thanks!

I'd chalk it up to being a quirk. "Golf holidays" is the keyword that actually has volume, therefore anything happening on "golfholidays" is mostly a curiosity unless you can track conversions from it. I would ignore it and keep plowing forward with your efforts to rank for the one you care about.
More likely than not you just need to keep building the authority of your site and make sure your page is well optimized for the phrase "golf holidays" and you'll get there. Most of the sites I see ranking on page 1 for that query have a decent number of links to them. 5 results are homepages which tend to have more links than internal landing pages, and the landing pages that are ranking are reasonably well targeted. As an example of what it takes to show up with a well optimized internal page with no links - British Airways (https://www.britishairways.com/en-us/destinations/holiday-types/golf-holidays) is only ranking 10th for the query with a highly authoritative site.

Hi Andy,
Unfortunately, this is very common. It's also the case with plural and singular keywords. If you search (in Holland, in Dutch) for second hand car, you get a different SERP than when you search for second hand car_s_.
The site that ranks position #1 for the singular search, ranks on position #6 for the plural version. All the sites in the top 5 are sites with second hand cars, so there is no different intent in the search.
I'm afraid that there is not much you can do about it.... Maybe somebody else has a different experience?
Kind regards,
Robert

Sudden drop in ranking google.co.uk ranking
Anyone else had any sudden drops in rankings this week? Is there an update going on? One of my primary keywords has dropped from 6th to 49th in the google.co.uk search results. Not in webmaster tools to flag an issue. I have downloaded the links from webmaster and it does look if some content has been scraped and then linked back to us from a large number of sites that we have never sort links from. I have upload the google disavow link tool. Only one keyword appears to be effected not all of them? Any ideas? Thanks

Moving content between two separate domains...
Hello I am looking for advice regarding moving content from one site to another. We have two websites: Site 1: E-commerce site, with content weaved in throughout the visitor journey.
Technical SEO | | DJR1981
Site 2: Blog-style site, used to archive magazine (which we own) articles online. Both sites exist on completely separate domains. Over time, Site 2 has received a lot less attention due to a change in our business objectives. As a result of this, this site is not as up-to-date as it could be and we're now starting to think about winding the brand down. However, some of the content (mostly feature-pieces, reviews etc) on Site 2 is really good and it would be a shame to just see such high quality stuff disappear into the ether. Ideally, we would like migrate some of the content on Site 2 to Site 1. The reasons for this are mostly to improve things from a visitor perspective, but also to gain any positive SEO points from adding such pieces to our main domain. I've had a look through and a lot of the articles from Site 2 are indexed. Is it going to be a case of selecting the pieces I want and then adding a 301s to those pages so they're no longer found/visable before re-publishing them on Site 1? Sorry if this is a bit of silly question, just wanted some advice to ensure I go about it the right way. Thanks!0 -

Technical SEO | | RandyRoussie
2. real estate presentation Our website is: http://www.agentpresentations.com We asked Google through Webmaster Tools to reconsider the site and they replied back saying nothing was wrong. We run Google Adwords and we contacted them and they looked at the keywords and sent screenshots to us showing the ranking we still there. But they are not... as proven in Webmaster tools. So Adwords told us to ask Webmaster Tools to reconsider the site again. Nothing yet... What do you suggest?0 -
Increase Search Ranking for CEO
Hi guys My company CEO is concerned that when her name is googled pictures of a glamour model appear in the image results area. The glamour model shares a second name with our CEO and this is why the model's images are appearing. I have been asked to rectify this situation. My CEO has a linked in page and twitter account which are underused but no personal page on our company website. I was thinking of buying the url for the CEO's name and optimizing a small site for her name with bio etc and links to twitter, lined in etc. Would this be the best strategy? Thanks Gavin

Importance of keyword in the content to rank well
Well, I am very beginner seo. our website is www.theprinterdepo.com and our main keyword for the moment is refurbished printers, but there might be hundreds of more keywords. I was analyzing the SERPs and found that for our keyword, the first 2 websites that come up have very different content 1.http://www.geeks.com/products.asp?cat=PRN They rank first, but I dont see a lot of text with the keyword in their text or links 2. http://www.valstarprinters.com/ They mention the keywords lots of times in the text, probably they are doing keyword stuffing? So this makes me thing, how the 1st one ranked there? just by link builiding?

URL paths and keywords
I'm recommending some on-page optimization for a home builder building in several new home communities. The site has been through some changes in the past few months and we're almost starting over. The current URL structure is http://homebuilder.com/oakwood/features where homebuilder = builder name Oakwood Estates= name of community features = one of several sub-paths including site plan, elevations, floor plans, etc. The most attainable keyword phrases include the word 'home' and 'townname' I want to change the URL path to: http://homebuilder.com/oakwood-estates-townname-homes/features Is there any problem with doing this? It just seems to make a lot of sense. Any input would be appreciated.
