Ranking subpage for main keyword instead of homepage – somehow I feel like our homepage is penalized
-
Hello guys,
I hope this question isn't too broad – but I run out of ideas and I feel like there is some technical issue with our site which sees us penalized:
Search: German Google
Website: www.elementspure-hotel.de
Keyword: Hotel Bremen- Right now we're ranking between 40 and 50 with the subpage /zimmer.
- a lot of sites with lesser DA scores and a lot more SEO Issues are ranked higher.
- The homepage is optimized for hotel bremen, yet /zimmer page ranks first, which I just don't understand
(Page Authority is much higher, Keyword density)
– I've run the site through a lot of tools and there aren't any severe issues - Search Console doesn't say anything in regards to errors
My suggestions which I can't confirm:
– There are some redirection issues (http/https/www/nonww/)
– Backlink issues (a lot of backlinks are from www.elements-pure.de)
– Over optimization penalties?Tank you!
Magnus

ITS Not about loss of Linkjuice. ITS Not cool to Link sitewide in Footer to other Domains and link Back.
My best practice: is the Link clicked by Users .. helpfull 4 Them: nofollow. Is the Link Not clicked or Not helpfull, Just exists to have links: delete

Hey Andreas,
thank you for your response.
Just to clarify the footer issue:
All the external pages linked in the footer link back to each other. And there is still loss of link juice?
Is there a technique where I can gain from linking the pages (when I put them one just one page)?Or is the best way to put them on nofollow?

The Page is Not Ranking in mobile searched from Berlin. Didnt checked in Tools.
The subpage is Not optimized to Rank for that querry, the Homepage Not much better. The Footer is more than critical. Extern Links to other Projects sitewide. If those Link Back U have a Problem with links.
I think your focus in General is to much da,Pa,Link based. You have a Lot of Things To-Do onpage. But Clean your footers fast. Than get an SEO tactic wich is Not so much Link based. You dont have a great answer for hotel Bremen. Just to be a hotel in Bremen is Not enaugh.
Goto HRS, booking, TripAdvisor, aso (guess U are). And do local SEO. Should be a quicker win. Search for Hotel Bremen and Look to These few Hotels Google Shows. Give a better answer. Looks a bit Like to old school SEO at the Moment.
Greetings from Berlin and sorry ... German autocorrection

How to rank 1 page for multiple keywords in the new way
Hi There It has been a little while since I was involved with KW's in earnest. 1.5 years ago and beyond I did really well with SEO. I'm not in a hugely competitive market but we found our keywords, we wrote great web pages for 1,2,3 keywords and when we found more great keywords that we built a new page to rank for. For example: One big hitting keyword was "Rugged PDA", we created a category page for Rugged PDA's. Another was "Rugged Handheld" so we had a new page for that. We then long tailed "semi rugged PDA", "waterproof rugged PDA" etc etc and built sub category pages. We were legit, did lots of content marketing, ran a blog tweeted etc and we did really well to be honest. However these days it's not working, One of Rand's whiteboard sessions stated that you need to build bigger topic based pages that delivered on more keywords (The one about shoes!). This is great as we love that idea as we can have 1 big category page that offers great value to the visitor, however I am struggling to work out how we target a bigger list of keywords to the one page or to fewer pages. To underline this the MOZ page rankers also still seem to work in the same way where they expect 1 or 2 KW's per page to get A ranks to them, so I'm confused!! For example Rugged PDA is an old term, Google trends is showing that it's glory days are over and we know that the term "Rugged Smartphone" is the one to use as we all use smartphones not PDAs these days. However we also see a lot about Rugged + Phone, Mobile, Cell, Handheld, tablet, device, phablet... all relevant to one big category page. So I run these KW's through google search to see if the same pages come up as a test to see if Google thinks they all mean the same, I get a few, but not much overlap. How do we therefore have 1 page that talks about all kinds of great stuff about the "Rugged smartphone" but one that also targets rugged handheld, rugged android device etc etc? I've spent 2 days catching up, i'm none the wiser on this specific element but i'm sure I am just missing one key element of common sense here and any help is very much appreciated. Regards Dave

Keyword links in footer
Hi - I am trying to help a site to get out from under a Google manual action penalty - down as "Partial Matches - Unnatural Links to site".
Technical SEO | | StevieD
I am checking through their links - the site that links most to them is a local directory style site - it has 2,682 links back into 1 page (Home) The directory site was built by the web co. that built my clients' site and they put a keyword link in the footer of the directory site - the keyword was "Buy Truffles". All my instincts say that is a bad thing! But - this is what is perplexing me - they are ranking no.1 for that keyword! Whereas they have lost rankings (i.e. not top 50) for all the other keywords they were targeting. So I don't get it! Can anyone explain why this is. I feel I should I get that link removed but don't want to take out their only ranking keyword! Webmaster shows about 55 different pages in the directory site have a link back to my client. Hope you can help.

URL Structure: When to insert keywords?
I read the SEOmoz beginers guide and it said that it's beneficial to place keywords in the URL as long as you don't overdo it. However, this seems awkward for common pages, such as "Home", "About", "Contact" etc.... I've currently targeted a specific keyword for each page on my site, as follows: Home: "Green Screen" Work: "Greenscreen" About: "Event Photography" Pricing: "Green Screen Photography" Should I rename the URLs as: Home: ...com/green-screen-home.html Work: ...com/greenscreen-work.html About:...com/about-event-photography.html Pricing:...com/green-screen-photography-pricing.html

Watermarking Keywords
I've been viewing an seo companies website that claims to get small business websites to Google Page 1 for free or starting at $150/mo. I'v noticed that on all the website this company has done work on they include in the footer (usually as a watermark) all the keyword phrases. There don't apprear to be any sites that have been penalized. Isn't this poor SEO practice? I've included a screen shot of what I'm talking about. I just want to be clear. Thank you for your input. Homepage display for seo
hi, Which is the best , seo speaking, about the homepage display with a CMS (joomla here). 1/ To display articles as "blog" and thus articles are always recent but not the same (chronological).. 2/ To display always a same article (just 1) but updated sometimes to times ? 3/ Both of them are good ? Tks a lot in advance..
