My site links to my clients not showing in Moz
-
I've got a web design business with a site that's been out there for 17 years - www.biztoolsone.com. I've got links to my clients' sites in my portfolio page. The backlinks list for my clients, when I check them in Moz, don't show the links from this site. They always showed in the list until a few months ago. The site has a DA of 59 & PA (for home page) of 50. The spam score is 0/17. I'm having a tough time telling my clients that the Moz backlinks list is accurate when that site doesn't show in the list. The same is true for www.fayettevillenc.biz - this is one I created years ago to generate backlinks. It's got a spam score of 4/17, so I'm a little more understanding of that one.
Thanks for any guidance!

Hi there! Tawny from Moz's Help Team here. Thanks for writing in and sorry about the trouble.
This is definitely due to the way we collect this information for our link index and it is actually expected that we won’t find every page and link because we aren’t looking for them all! When we collect this data, we’re looking specifically for the most valuable links and, rather than crawling your entire site or every site, we collect this by starting our crawler on a few highest ranking sites and letting it perform a breadth first search to see what it finds.
For each page that we crawl, we first collect each of it’s links before following these and collecting the details of each page that these link to and so on. There’s a set limit of links that we’ll crawl per page and pages that we’ll crawl per site so it’s expected that we may not follow every link on your site this way.
Generally, we recommend using a wide variety of backlink tools to get the most illustrative picture of how your site's backlink profile looks. OSE and Ahrefs index differently and have different purposes. Ahrefs is good for quantity while OSE is great for finding higher quality links. Domain Authority is our own proprietary metric that is closely correlated to Google rankings, so our customers often use OSE to research influential sites to build links.
I hope this helps - let me know if you have any further questions!

Why are my trackable links appearing in my site crawls?
Our Google-created trackable campaign URLs are appearing in site crawls and often triggering error warnings.

URL column of Link Explorer reports do not have the protocol (http or https)
I exported from Link Explorer. In the URL column, there is no protocol for each URL. Isn't the protocol part of what makes a url? I'm crawling each with http:// and https:// but it feels like this info could just be in the report. Am I missing a step?

GTLDs in Open Site Explorer
Curious to know if anyone has run into a similar problem - I entered a site containing a gTLD (.dog extensions) in OSE and it gave me an error (screenshot attached). I checked another tool (ahrefs.com) and was able to extract some data. Does anyone know if these type of domains are not included in OSE and/or why there was an error? Appreciate any insight! I have a robots.txt error on Moz but not on Google Webmaster tools. Wondering what to do.
For the site www.patrickwerry.com, I'm getting a DA of 1 and a Error Code 612: Error response for robots.txt However, when I check webmaster tools, it's showing no errors and allowing robots.txt for the domain. Is there anything I can do to fix the issue on the Moz side so I can get better data? If you can respond in layman's terms even better. 🙂 Not an SEO. Lisa

Does OSE crawl our site often? Or do we have an other problem? (internal links)
I am wondering if i can find out when OpenSiteExplorer crawled our entire website for the last time.
Link Explorer | | wilcoXXL
A few months ago we added some internal textlinks to all of our productpages. Those are links to the brandpage of that particular product. Some of our brands do have up to 1500 products, so there should be at least 1500 internal links pointing to that brandpage. But OSE still gives me a wrong count. It says there is only 1 internal link pointing to that brandpage.
Is it because OSE never crawled our site again? Or am i missing something here?(maybe too many internal links to one specific brandpage is not okay?) I'll hope you guys can help me out with this one.0 -
Why do 0 back links show for my website in Open Site Explorer?
I've read and understand that all back link tools results will vary from one another but Open Site Explorer and some others find 0 linking to my site. Webmaster tools show 46 back links. Is this because they are all "no follow"? I'm trying to get a grip on SEO but am very confused from the get go. Thanks, Todd
