How to Find a Competitor's Target Keyword for a Particular Webpage
-
I understand how to do basic keyword research and how to review a competitor's code (meta tags, etc.).
But what is the best method for finding out what a competitor's target keyword is for a particular web page?
For example, the URL www.example.com/about-us, what is the best method for finding out what their target keyword is? I have been using a keyword density tool to run the URLs and find the keyword or phase that appears most often but would think there is a better way?

I'd go to the SEMrush dashboard and copy/paste the URL in the search box. Then press the orange search button.
You will get a report that shows the keywords that the page ranks for and the rankings that they currently hold.
The keywords that they are targeting can, and usually are, very different from the keywords that they are ranking for -- and the keywords that they are targeting is less valuable information than the keywords that they are ranking for.
And, on that I hold that the intentions of other people who own a website can not be divined, nor is their smarts anything that I would be willing to bet my money on.

Hi,
Best way to find competitors keyword is as you mentioned by looking keyword used in title tag,
tag and webpage content of particular webpage.
Second you have to do backlink analysis and find backlink anchor text. I don't think any other way to find competitors target keyword.
Here is a detailed article on the same from wordstream - https://www.wordstream.com/blog/ws/2017/11/09/competitor-keywords
Hope this helps.
Thanks

My articles aren't ranking for keywords
Hello! I hope someone can help me...I've researched my keywords (long and short tail) for my articles but they are showing up as no ranking keywords. It looks like I've only got a few of my 15 articles which actually have keywords within - and I'm not sure why! Please can someone advise? https://www.el-well.com/helping-your-parents-declutter-their-home/ Thank you.

Is it a bad idea to hyphenate keywords?
Hello, my understanding was that Google reads hyphens in keywords as spaces, but if that's accurate how come keywords with hyphens that I research with Keyword Explorer — for instance, hospital-acquired infections — rank lower when I include the hyphen? If the hyphen hurts SEO, do I have to remove them all from the blog or page in question? Removing hyphens means a blog or page will have punctuation errors, which is irritating to an editor, but I don't want to sacrifice the effectiveness of keywords, either. Thanks, in advance, for your response!

Keyword Research for Low Volume Keywords
Hey friends, I'm looking for a little keyword research direction here, specifically for keywords and phrases with low search volume. I'm just going to give a recent example: I just finished a piece of content on customer experience. I began the process with some keyword research. Based on Moz's keyword explorer, "customer experience" has a monthly volume of 2.9k-4.3k. Sweet. So I move onto related queries and longer tail phrases to narrow my content approach. But just about any relevant phrase shows either a volume of 0-10 or 11-50 and very similar difficulty metrics, making it tough to choose a direction. So "what is customer experience" shows a monthly volume of 0-10. SEM Rush reports ~350 searches a month. I understand SEM Rush uses broader match, but I guess what I'm asking is: how do I perform keyword research with such minuscule volumes and such little data to differentiate? I've looked at Russ Jones' answer to a similar question here on how Keyword Explorer works: https://moz.com/community/q/what-is-a-good-keyword-volume-score ... but I still don't have a ton of clarity. Any advice would be awesome!

Optimizing for close keyword variants
I am planning my seo project using Moz tools. I am finding keywords that are close to each other. What is the best way to optimize? If I made a page for each of the close words, it would pretty much be duplicate content. Is it best to go ahead and make a page for each and try to make content a bit different? How different does it have to be? Or, would i try to use the different versions of the keyword on one good page. Thank you!

No SERPs contains my keyword phrase
Hi! I have a question that is the best described by an concrete example: When I use Google UK and search for a keyword "wood floor" why the top 100 search results show pages for "wood flooring" instead? Is it because that keyword is simply more popular and pages are in general better optimized for "flooring"?

Singular and Plural Noun Keywords
Hi everyone Extremely love this community, learning a lot day by day! I am currently in the process of writing a blog post and say for example I am targetting the keyword 'apple' and 'apples'. My current word count of the article is 850 words and I have used 'Apple' 15 times and 'Apples' 26 times. 1 .Is my Keyword density too high and will Google look at this as keyword stuffing? 2. Do I have to target each Singular and Plural keyword individually? Or will targetting 'Apple' will also automatically target 'Apples' for me and vice versa? Thanks in advance!
