How should the Heading Tags be used in Blogs to gain the Best results in SEO?
-
There are various Heading Tags from H1 to H6. In what order and priority should they be used in order to get best reach and ranking in google. Is every Tag a must in a blog?
-
Hi sne
I think the first thing to understand these are not ranking factors in themselves, it is the content of the page which is most important. H1 and H2 for me are the two most important headers.
H1 - set this above all content to help define the theme of the page to the reader. You will already have set the theme in the title tag. So make sure that the H1 either emulates the primary keyword set in there (Remember title should be Primary Keyword/phrase | Secondary Keyword/ Phrase | Company) so either use that or a synonym - i.e. something very closely related that conveys the meaning of the content.
H2 - Use these to break up the main body of content into sub-sections of the main content. So for example, if your content only has 300 words because that is all you need to get the point across then you may not need any H2s. If the content extends to over 1000 words because that is what you need to make your point then consider breaking this up with H2s. The H2s will help enhance the overall SEO strength. It forces you to think of a sub-theme for that part of the content and if all sub-themes are subsets of the main theme, will enhance the overall SEO value.
Don't use it as an opportunity to introduce a new them that should have its own page as you will dilute the strength of the page.
Keep it all related.
Get a great image in there which has the alt tag the same as the primary keyword and you are laughing!
You can use H3s and H4s if necessary to head up other minor areas of content - but their use is only really as a separator which may be bolded to help the reader understand the content better. Don't be thinking that they have a specific SEO role because they don't. You could equally just bold a word in paragraph text.
I hope that helps - Regards
Nigel

Does cached duplicate content hurts seo by Google
If we have duplicate content or pages cached in Google which has been indexed months back, still it hurts the original pages? Old URLs with cache can be seen now in Google when we search for the same URLs.

Confused about PageSpeed Insights vs Site Load for SEO Benefit?
I was comparing sites with a friend of mine, and I have a higher PageSpeed Insights score for mobile and desktop than he does, but he his google analytics has his page load speed higher than. So assuming all things equal, some quality of conent, links, etc, is it better to have a site with a higher PageSpeed score or faster site load? To me, it makes more sense for it to be the latter, but if that's true, what's the point of the PageSpeed insights? Thanks for your help! I appreciate it. Ruben

Schema tags demystified
I am looking for a basic description of the use for schema tags and how and in what circumstances they are best applied. I have found a few resources such as schema.org and here on this forum, but find I still need a basics lesson and subsequently, some ways to execute. The Raven plugin appears to make the code visible to the viewer which seems unacceptable...Guess I'm just a bit stumped! Thanks in advance for any available hand-holding on this. ;o)

Blog problems
I have a portfolio of blogs, and have just had 9 de-indexed by google. What worries me more than anything else is that :- 1. there is no interlinking whatsoever 2. content is all unique and on topic 3. most have no outbound links This is truly bizarre - you stick to the rules and get de-indexed ! Has anyone else had a similar issue, advice or comments as I am truly perplexed. Thanks

What is the best way for a local business site to come up in the SERPs for a town that they are not located in?
At our agency, we work with many local small business owners who often want to come up in multiple towns that are near to their business where they do not have a physical address. We explain to them again and again that with the recent changes that Google in particular has made to their algorithms, it is very difficult to come up in the new "blended" organic and Places results in a town that you don't have a physical address in. However, many of these towns are within 2 or 3 miles of the physical location and well within driving distance for potential new clients. Google, in it's infinite wisdom doesn't seem to account for areas of the country, such as New Jersey, where these limitations can seriously affect a business' bottom line. What we would like to know is what are other SEOs doing to help their clients come up in neighboring towns that is both organic and white hat?

"Revisit-after" Metatag = Why use it?
Hi Mozfans, Just been thinking about the robots revisit metatag, all pages on my website (200+ pages) have the following tag on them; name="revisit-after" content="7 days" /> I'm wondering what is the purpose of the tag? Surely isn't it best to allow robots (such as Googlebot or Bingbot) to crawl your site as often as possible so the index and rankings get updated as quickly as possible? Thanks in advance everyone! Ash
