SSL Cert error
-
Just just implemented SSL with a wild card cert and I got an email from google that my non-www cert is not valid.
Any ideas ?
SSL/TLS certificate does not include domain name https://electrictime.com/
To: Webmaster of https://electrictime.com/,
Google has detected that the current SSL/TLS certificate used on https://electrictime.com/ does not include https://electrictime.com/ domain name. This means that your website is not perceived as secure by some browsers. As a result, many web browsers will block users accessing your site by displaying a security warning message. This is done to protect users’ browsing behavior from being intercepted by a third party, which can happen on sites that are not secure.

I suggest to just do redirection from non www to www or http to https version. This link may be helpful for you.

How did you impliment it? Do you have access to Apache? if you do This is how I have about 20 of my websites SSL CRT/KEY files setup if you want something to check it with. IF you did it with php.ini probably will need to check the walkthrough with your webhost.

Hi Thomas
If you registered the SSL for www then it won't necessarily cover the non www. You should make sure that the version you sign up for SSL with matches the configuration you are using. If you bought an SSL for www then use www.
I have this issue with one of our sites but it is only saying this in the Opera browser.

Hi There,
Your website is accurately redirected to the https://www version, I won't worry about the error as non-www version is not relevant in your case. You may also read the following articles why this problem might have come:
https://www.clickssl.net/blog/do-i-need-different-ssl-certificates-for-www-non-www-domain

I hope this helps, let me know if you have further queries.
Best Regards,
Vijay

Google Search Console Crawl Errors?
We are using Google Search Console to monitor Crawl Errors. It seems Google is listing errors that are not actual errors. For instance, it shows this as "Not found": https://tapgoods.com/products/tapgoods__8_ft_plastic_tables_11_available So the page does not exist, but we cannot find any pages linking to it. It has a tab that shows Linked From, but if I look at the source of those pages, the link is not there. In this case, it is showing the front page (listed twice, both for http and https). Also, one of the pages it shows as linking to the non-existant page above is a non-existant page. We marked all the errors as fixed last week and then this week they came up again. 2/3 are the same pages we marked as fixed last week. Is this an issue with Google Search Console? Are we getting penalized for a non existant issue?

404 errors
Hi, we have plenty of 404 errors. We just deal with those that are of the highest priority (the ones that have high page authority). We have also a lot of errors like this: http://www.weddingrings.com/www.yoy-search.com . Does it make sense to redirect those to the home page or leave them as an 404 error?

Rankings gone, no WMT errors, help!
Hi, Client Google rankings have been seriously hit. We have done everything we know of to see why this is the case, and there is no obvious explanation. The client dominated search terms, and are no down on page 7/8 for these search terms. There are no errors in WMT, so we can not resubmit for reconsideration. This is a genuine client and their business has been seriously affected. Can anybody offer help? Thanks in advance!

Huge increase in server errors and robots.txt
Hi Moz community! Wondering if someone can help? One of my clients (online fashion retailer) has been receiving huge increase in server errors (500's and 503's) over the last 6 weeks and it has got to the point where people cannot access the site because of server errors. The client has recently changed hosting companies to deal with this, and they have just told us they removed the DNS records once the name servers were changed, and they have now fixed this and are waiting for the name servers to propagate again. These errors also correlate with a huge decrease in pages blocked by robots.txt file, which makes me think someone has perhaps changed this and not told anyone... Anyone have any ideas here? It would be greatly appreciated! 🙂 I've been chasing this up with the dev agency and the hosting company for weeks, to no avail. Massive thanks in advance 🙂

How important are sitemap errors?
If there aren't any crawling / indexing issues with your site, how important do thing sitemap errors are? Do you work to always fix all errors? I know here: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/bings-duane-forrester-on-webmaster-tools-metrics-and-sitemap-quality-thresholds Duane Forrester mentions that sites with many 302's 301's will be punished--does any one know Googe's take on this?

Does Google penalize for having a bunch of Error 404s?
If a site removes thousands of pages in one day, without any redirects, is there reason to think Google will penalize the site for this? I have thousands of subcategory index pages. I've figured out a way to reduce the number, but it won't be easy to put in redirects for the ones I'm deleting. They will just disappear. There's no link juice issue. These pages are only linked internally, and indexed in Google. Nobody else links to them. Does anyone think it would be better to remove the pages gradually over time instead of all at once? Thanks!
