Sudden drop in organic traffic after migration from Django to Wordpress.
-
I have seen a sudden drop organic reach in a particular page of our website www.hackerearth.com/innovation earlier this was www.hackerearth.com/sprint. I although understand that it happens while migration but it has been a while we did the migration. The migration happened around May month. Something similar has happened to our blog. Earlier it was a blog.hackerearth.com now hackerearth.com/blog
_Could anyone suggest me what could be the possible issue for the drop in traffic? _
-
Yes, I have cross-checked with my analytics and I can see the clear difference in a drop in traffic.
When I say organic traffic I mean we are not getting a visit from google/organic which was present earlier.
Thanks for your valuable feedback and help. I would love to keep in touch with you.

First I would try to figure out what is causing the loss of traffic, try to spend some time at your Google analytics and compare period before and after the change and see if you are able to identify where is the source of the lost traffic.
Since you said organic traffic drop it should be some ranking drop or CTR drop, I would start by checking with my Analytics and Search Console to see if my impressions and CTR have big changes before and after changes.
You should start tracking your keyword ranking, especially keyword that gives you conversion, hopefully, you've been tracking your conversion as well, then optimize it time by time.

- We are not tracking the KW.
- Yes we rebranded the product and made changes into the content also
- Yes, whole meta and title tag was changed subsequently
What will be the way forward now?
-
Hello Rajnish,
There are so many reasons that might be causing the organic traffic lost, here are some thoughts that come to my mind:
- Since you say organic traffic lost I suppose this has something to do with your ranking on Google and CTR
- Do you currently tracking some keywords and do you see a considerable ranking drop?
- Since you rebrand the product do you also made a lot of content changes?
- Did you make a lot of changes on your Meta tags that could hurt the CTR?
- It takes time for 301 Redirect to fully pass the link value.
- You migrate to a different CMS, it has different structure although the surface looks the same, so maybe you need to take a look into onpage/technical SEO as well. Maybe remove the video background, which is known to hurt onpage SEO.
Hope this helps

All the content are same, it just the migration. There were a few broken links which we are getting fixed.
-
Is all of the content on the page the same as it was before? It could just be that a particular piece of content was helping you to rank before. If that content is now not there, it stands to reason that you might have fallen down the rankings.
-
Hi Vijay, That's not the issue. we have already put the 301 redirect (https://www.hackerearth.com/innovation/ ). It's my bad that there was a typo in he link while I posted it here.
-
www.hacekerearth.com/sprint is unreachable, not even showing 404, while it should have been 301 redirected to the new address. This is a classic case of wrong migration steps, and you can't blame WordPress for the same.
WordPress is a good platform for website SEO, please take a good look on this article and it should be sufficient to get your ranks back pretty soon. https://moz.com/blog/website-migration-guide
I hope this helps, let me know if you have further queries.
Regards,
Vijay

Does anyone have any ideas why this may have happened? As far as I know there's nothing that we have done could have impacted.0 -
Wordpress to HubSpot CMS - I had major crawl issues post launch and now traffic is down 400%
Hi there good looking person! Our traffic went from 12k visitors in july to 3k visitors in july. << www.thedsmgroup.com >>When we moved our site from wordpress to the hubspot COS (their CMS system), I didnt submit a new sitemap to google webmaster tools. I didn't know that I had to... and to be honest, I've never submitted or re-submitted a sitemap to GWT. I have always built clean sites with fresh content and good internal linking and never worried about it. Yoast kind of took care of the rest, as all of my sites and our clients' sites were always on wordpress. Well, lesson learned. I got this message on June 27th in GWT_http://www.thedsmgroup.com/: Increase in not found errors__Google detected a significant increase in the number of URLs that return a 404 (Page Not Found) error. Investigating these errors and fixing them where appropriate ensures that Google can successfully crawl your site's pages._One month after our site launched we had 1,000 404s on our website. Ouch. Google thought we had a 1,200 page website with only 200 good pages and 1,000 error pages. Not very trust worthy... We never had a 404 ever before this, as we added a plugin to wordpress that would 301 any 404 to the homepage, so we never had a broken link on our site, which is not ideal for UX, but as far as google was concerned, our site was always clean. Obviously I have submitted a new sitemap to GWT a few weeks ago, and we are moving in the right direction... **but have I taken care of everything I need to? I'm not sure. Our traffic is still around 100 visitors per day, not 400 per day as it was before we launched the new site.**Thoughts?I'm not totally freaking out or anything, but a month ago we ranked #1 and #2 for "marketing agency nj", now we aren't in the top 100. I've never had a problem like this. _I added a few screen grabs from Google Webmaster Tools that should be helpful.__Bottom line, have I done everything I need to or do I need to do something with all of these "not found" error details that I have in GWT?_None of these "not found" pages have any value and I'm not sure how Google even found them... Website Migration and SEO
Recently I migrated three websites from www.product.com to www.brandname.com/product. Two of these site are performing as normal when it comes to SEO but one of them lost half of its traffic and dropped in rankings significantly. All pages have been properly redirected, onsite SEO is intact and optimized, and all pages are indexed by Search engines. Has anyone had experience with this type of migration that could give some input on what a possible solution could be? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Google drop down - keyword gone, why?
Hi guys, i received traffic off a yearly based term, this year for '2013' i noticed it is nowhere near what the yearly term was for the year before. I believe that Google has stopped the yearly term appearing in a drop-down menu from a big volume related term, my question is how do they determine what goes in the drop down menu for related/relevant searches?

Few questions regarding wordpress and indexing/no follow.
I'm using Yoast's Wordpress SEO plugin on my wordpress site which allows you to quickly set up nofollow / no index on specific taxonomies. I wanted to see what you guys thought was the best practice in setting up my various taxonomies. Would you noidex, but follow all of these, none of these, or just some of these: Categories, tags, media, author archives ( (My blog is mainly a single author blog (me) but my wife does sometimes write posts. So I didn't know how this effected everything. Also I could simply make the blog a single user blog and just have her posts be guest posts, but I'd rather leave her as a user.), and date archives. The example I read on line only no-index's the date archives. Just curious what you guys thought. Thanks.
