Optimized URL?
-
Hi Mozers,
We're trying to come up with an SEO friendly URL.
Does it make sense to re-order primary-secondary-tumor to secondary-primary-tumor because "primary tumor" has high volumes and thus those two words should be adjacent?
Any advice is appreciated!
Yael

Thank for your advice, I was thinking the same thing!

Hi there!
My advise is to go with whats best for your coherence in the whole site's URL structure. Always focus on bringing usability and be understandable for humans.
Dont always focus on the higher volume keywords, as they might be harder to rank for and those easier could bring much more qualified traffic and/or conversions
That said, i'd go with domain.com/categ/primary-tumor/For further info, some really good and qualified comments on the topic:

Any way to track rank of a URL for keyword BEFORE setting up in Rank Tracker?
Hello all I realize this data is probably impossible to get but thought I would take a chance and ask. Anyone know of a way to see ranking for a URL for a keyword before being setup in Rank Tracker? Would love to see how a URL moved up and down over time prior to tracking. I know its a long shot but if anyone knows its the Moz community! Have a great day people.

Plural vs singular keyword usage - on-page optimization
The on-page report card appears to include both plural and singular versions of keywords in reporting the keywords within the body, which results in a keyword stuffing warning. My question is, is it truly keyword spamming to use over 15 instances of a keyword that is spread across plural and singular versions of the keyword? If keywords are lumped together this way by Google's algorithms, why do pages rank differently for singular and plural versions of the same keyword?

What Tools Can Be Used To Determine Kw's I Should Be Optimizing For ?
What Tools Can Be Used To Determine Kw's I Should Be Optimizing For ? My concern is that I may be optimizing certain pages with wrong kw phrases and building backlinks to wrong kw phrases that are not a good conversion keyword for the services that I am selling. What are the various ways and tools that can be used to determine if I am optimizing for the right kw's phrases and not the wrong ones that will not convert into a lead from the optin form. I am wondering if ppc spy tools such as spyfu, semrush help me identify if I in fact am opitimizing for the right kw's ?

Should I be optimizing for Keywords that we already rank for?
When selecting which Keywords to optimize for, should I choose all words that I want us to move up for? Like that my company appears ranked for 5, 10, 42, 44, etc.? Or should I select a mix of some that rank well (top 1-2 pgs in Google) /rank near pg 5/ and some that aren't showing up in the top 50 yet? I don't want to waste my time optimizing for words I don't need to. Thanks!
