What Tools Can Be Used To Determine Kw's I Should Be Optimizing For ?
My concern is that I may be optimizing certain pages with wrong kw phrases and building backlinks to wrong kw phrases that are not a good conversion keyword for the services that I am selling.
What are the various ways and tools that can be used to determine if I am optimizing for the right kw's phrases and not the wrong ones that will not convert into a lead from the optin form.
I am wondering if ppc spy tools such as spyfu, semrush help me identify if I in fact am opitimizing for the right kw's ?

PS: 5. Would be -> do SEO for the best converting keys
I do not know a tool, that predicts conversion rates. But if you see, that a competitor is doing heavy link-building on a page / key, it is very likely, that it is converting well
You could try this just with Open Site Explorer here at SEOMOZ. Check the domain of a competitor -> click on "top pages". You will see the most linked to pages.
Check the titles of those pages and with a high probability you will have his top converting keywords.

Thanks for your feedback, So the key is to run adwords campaigns to test which words convert ..humm thanks ;0}
Wondering if those ppc/organic spy tools can help with determining what kw's the competitors are optimizing that are giving them top conversions in Organic SERP's ?

PS: As we are Germans, we use Sistrix, Searchmetrics, WISE for discovering the keywords of our competitors. I have no suggestion for the us/uk-market. But I hope SEOmoz will offer a keyword tool in the future

We have a 4-step-process for keyword-discovery:
- we do a brainstorming session and collect all keywords, that come to our minds
- we create an adwords campain an run all these keywords / phrases in broad match
- we keep only those combinations, that convert well
- we use "spy tools" to collect our competitors keywords / phases and restart with them at 2.

What's the best way to handle seasonal SEO?
Hi, I work for a gifting company, and so Christmas is hot on the agenda right now. I was wondering what you would recommend when it comes to gifting categories for keywords such as 'Christmas gifts for Mum'? I have a 'gifts for mum' category for all year round, but to rank for Christmas related keywords I will have to include these keywords on this page as soon as possible and this would make the content on the page seem slightly irrelevant. I do not really want to have separate pages, but is this the only way to rank for this?

Optimizing a Webpage without keywords
Hi all, I’m really running into a challenge internally lately in that we have a lot of teams redesigning or building new pages (specificially one team) that do NOT loop our teams in. When we finally get them to work with us, to drive traffic to the pages, they disagree that there must be other ways of optimizing the pages than focusing on keywords with search volume that are relevant to the page. We usually land that they will choose a keyword or two they think a user will search for, we do keyword research and pick something close (because they don’t want to utilize a term that doesn’t make much sense, as they have written the content without involving us from the beginning, but then our search volume is declining). They keep saying there are other ways than changing the paired down content on their page and adding in keywords to the H1 headers, content on page. they mentioned semantic search at one point. For example, https://www.entrust.com/products/entrust-getaccess/ currently ranks around #10 for "single sign on solution." This keyword was on the previous page quite a few times in headers and body copy. Now it appears on the page 3 times after the redesign and is not in the h1. The team does for example want to optimize for this term, but there’s lots of pushback as they want a page with minimal content and little design. Just wondering your thoughts on this. IS this a common challenge you deal with too and any idea on answers as I've tried many with the teams? Thanks, Laura

How would you optimise a site for close variations of a keyword, such as [data capture + application/app/software/technology/tool/solution]
Hey all, We're a data capture app looking to optimise our site: akkroo.com. There are lots of industry-specific & use-case-based content pages we can create, but how should we optimise our site to capture traffic for keywords that could (almost) be classified as synonyms? Particularly, I'm thinking keywords such as: data capture app data capture application data capture software data capture tool data capture tools data capture technology etc. My industry-specific pages will all have completely unique content, but I'm struggling to work out how I should architecture pages that target keywords that are almost identical, such as the list above. The content on these pages would technically be 'unique', but each page would be very similar to one another. And how would we link to these pages internally? I can't really see it adding to the user experience, but I can't see how I can target all of these keywords without having individual pages for each... Thanks in advance for any help that can be shared; appreciate it! Brian

How to interpret the keyword tool?
I've played with the keyword tool a bit. Some keywords have 43% difficulty and some have 55%. What do these difficulty levels mean? I don't really know how to go about it.
