-
Hello all
I work for a small company. we do carpentings and old wooden furniture repairs. With the same company, we've started a tiny house building business, which is completly different of what we usally do and this is a national business wj
The question is, can a create a different google my business listing for this activity ? It has different brand on logo but same phone number and same physical address.
From what i ve found in google help pages , i would say yes, but i d take opinions about this , tks for your precious answers
from google :
Departments within other business, universities, or institutions
Departments within businesses, universities, hospitals, and government institutions may have their own listings on Google.

Publicly-facing departments that operate as distinct entities should have their own page. The exact name of each department must be different from that of the main business and that of other departments. Typically such departments have a separate customer entrance and should each have distinct categories. Their hours may sometimes differ from those of the main business.
• Acceptable (as distinct listings):
o "Walmart Vision Center"
o "Sears Auto Center"
o "Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Dermatology"
• Not acceptable (as distinct listings):
o The Apple products section of Best Buy
o The hot food bar inside Whole Foods Market
For each department, the category that is the most representative of that department must be different from that of the main business and that of other departments.
• The main business "Wells Fargo" has the category "Bank" whereas the department "Wells Fargo Advisors" has the category "Financial Consultant"
• The main business "South Bay Toyota" has the category "Toyota Dealer" whereas the "South Bay Toyota Service & Parts" has the category "Auto Repair Shop" (plus the category "Auto Parts Store")
• The main business "GetGo" has the category "Convenience Store" (plus the category "Sandwich Shop") whereas the department "GetGo Fuel" has the category "Gas Station", and the department "WetGo" has the category "Car Wash" -
Hello
Thanks for your very complete answer.
As for furniture repair work, we meet our tiny houses clients face to face , at least twice, at our shop, where all our tiny houses are built, and we deliver (drive ) our small houses accross europe, we re not shipping any part for self building. So i am pretty sure we are eligible.
Our two activities are really différents businesses in one company, with completly different products and services, different clients and targets.
We have 2 websites, 2 names, 2 logos, and we could work out 2 differents phone numbers. But it will be all located at the address where all the machinery and tools are .
Because of the single address, i looked into the department option offered by google , as mentionned at the bottom of my first post .
I think i d be right to open a second listing, but i also feel Google could kick me ... can't make up my mind on this .

Good afternoon, and congratulations on launching your tiny house business. Those tiny houses are fascinating!
In regards to your question, I'm understanding your scenario this way:
-
You do woodworking/carpentry/repairs via an existing local business for local customers with whom you meet face-to-face.
-
You've now started a national business in which you will ship tiny house kits or materials to customers across the U.S.
If I've misunderstood that in any way, please correct me.
If I'm correct, read on.
Having a Google My Business listing is dependent on you having face-to-face interactions with customers. So, if your consumer base for the tiny houses is completely national rather than local, and you are not meeting these shoppers face-to-face, you do not qualify for a Google My Business listing.
But, if at least some of your customers for the tiny houses are local and you are meeting with them either at your place of business or are going from your place of business to meet them out at their houses, then, yes, you would qualify for a Google My Business listing.
In other words, you have to be meeting at least some of your customers in person to be eligible for a listing.
Moving along, if you determine that you are eligible because you're meeting some tiny house buyers face-to-face, you have a second problem to tackle: the problem of co-located businesses at the same address.
If one of your businesses was the tiny house business and other was a computer repair company, you'd have no problem having them share addresses, provided you equipped each business with a unique phone number and a unique website.
But, in your case, both of your businesses appear to be related to carpentry (houses, furniture, woodworking, etc.). Google does have separate categories for Home Builder, Furniture Repair and Carpenter, but I would have a moderate concern that Google might decide that you are a single business (a carpentry business) attempting to appear like multiple businesses with multiple Google listings. It's possible that they could decide you are trying to spam them, and penalize or even remove one or more of your listings.
Given this, you have two options to proceed with guaranteed safety:
-
Decide you are really just running one carpentry business with a variety of services promoted via a single website and a single Google My Business listing.
-
Decide you are really running two distinct businesses and locate one of them at a different physical location, as well as ensuring they each have their own website and phone number, and completely unique branding (a different name, etc.).
The first option should be no sweat. The second option, if all of your woodworking tools are in a single shop, could involve some difficult structural business changes, such as opening up a second workshop. You will be best able to determine whether that's possible.
Please let me know if anything I've written needs further clarification. And good luck with your new work!

GMB 1 listing for store , multiple additional listings for outside sales reps
I am working with a business that has setup their google my business as: 1 main GMB for store location with its physical address and unique phone - ie business name "ABC Lumber" 1 GMB account for the business name followed by the city name ie. "ABC Lumber Santa Monica" with an address in Santa Monica and different phone than the store location GMB Account but points to same website. Another GMB account for called. "ABC Lumber Redondo Beach" with an address and same phone as the Santa Monica GMB account but points to same website. So basically there is a main account which is the store, and then the sales reps want to create multiple GMB accounts of their own that are service area only accounts. Do you see a problem with this?

How Do I Remove Address from Google Business Page?
Not very up to date in handling local listings, so here's my situation. I have an office that is not going out of business, but instead going virtual. So that physical address will no longer exist but the team is intact. So I am dealing with the Google Business Listing page for this office at https://business.google.com/ In the "Published on" section, it has Google Search, Google Maps, and Google+. I want to remove it from Maps and the address from this account. There's an address for this store, but editing it only seems to allow changing, but not removal. There is also the option of "Mark as Permanently Closed", but surely that isn't the best option since that will leave a nasty red "PERMANENTLY CLOSED" in the results when searching. What's the best course of action here?

How does Google choose the photo added above a Google+ result?
When I do a brand name search for a client, it pulls their G+ info into the right side bar and it adds three images above the G+ info. One is a photo, one is the Streetview, and one is the Google Maps results. On this particular client, the photo being pulled is from Google Images and not from the G+ page. Their G+ page is verified and has 17 photos in it, none of which are this particular photo. Please advise.

How to submit a new business in Factual
I am trying to create citation for my client sites in Factual.com. As, I am not a hardcore developer, I wont be able to use the API as mentioned in the Factual website. It also provides a lit of Trusted Data Contributors, which are paid third party service providers. I would like to know, whether it is possible to create a business listing in Factual, by using any other means than these two options.

Why I'm I ranking so low on Google Maps
About 3 months I started a website (www.guyetteroofing.com) for my roofing business in Montgomery, Alabama. The site is still a work in progress, however, because the competition doesn't really market via internet it was fairly easy to rank on Google Maps. Within 1 month the business was letter "A" in Google Maps. About 3 three weeks ago my ranking was dropped considerably, not showing up at all in letters A through G. The business is still indexed in Google Maps, but only represented by a small red dot. My website is still ranking pretty high for "roofers in Montgomery", but my position on Google Maps has all but disappeared. I have no idea what I've done to be rank so low on Google Maps but still have a solid position on regular Google Search. I've checked my citations and my NAPs, there are a few inconsistencies but nothing major. How can I rank so far below my competition if I have twice as many citations, an actual website, and a Google Plus page?

Is there any way to stop yahoo local from adding names to local listings?
I've been coming across many yahoo listings that have a "First Name, Last Name-Business Name" as the listing title including one that I came across that includes my name and my company's business. There's no reason why I should be listed on the listing. Yahoo, says that they pull data from other sources: Localeze ExpressUpdateUSA YP Yext But none of those sites have my name connected to them other than in the account information. Yahoo, doesn't seem to have a good way to fix their listings. I sent their customer support an email about it but I'm not expecting to get much out of it. Does anyone know of a good way to get around/fix this?
