Timing of Adding Links -- Guidance Needed
-
We have entered into a partnership with one of our sister companies that owns many different small newspapers and their associated websites -- they have agreed to show some of our content on their site along with providing links back to our website. There are 50+ of these websites that we will be getting links from. Does it matter to Google how quickly we add these links to these sites? They are all very legitimate links with unique content provided. We just didn’t know if Google would view it negatively if we added a bunch at one time. Any guidance on the timing of how links are added would be most valuable. Thank-you.

Hi Matt,
I checked it out. What I saw was a quality site using your service as intended and citing you as the provider.
I would be incredibly surprised if there was anything negative here. There are absolutely no potential low quality signals I can see. Your service is getting adopted by legitimate users and cited appropriately. I just can't see anything wrong with this.
If you were "penalized" for growth this would be a gross distortion of what what the "penalty" is intended for.
I really see nothing wrong here. Do you have further growth lined up? The only thing I could see POSSIBLY being an issue is getting a burst of links and then having it drop off. But it's only 50 sites - not the thousands you can get using "other" means.
I strongly think you should just go for this. If you were a client that would be my recommendation. This IS natural linking.
Any other SEO's care to weigh in on my thought process? If I'm full of it I'd love to hear it. But I don't see how.

Hi - Here is an example of one that just went live --
http://www.thenewsenterprise.com/business-for-sale
You are correct, these are 100% legit links - no funny business. They are small community newspaper sites and essentially we are "powering" their business for sale search within their classifieds section. The one link is in the top right -- it links back to our homepage. That's the only link we are getting.
Please let me know if this changes anything. Your thoughts make good sense.
Thanks.

Hi Matt,
I feel like you shouldn't worry about the timing of the linking, for a few reasons:
1. This seems to be natural linking. These aren't paid for links and they aren't blasted low-tier links. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but these links come from natural, reputable websites that have chosen to publish your content and reference you as an authority on your own merit, right?
Unless I'm wrong, this isn't Blackhat or unnatural linking - It's a bunch of legitimate & natural links that you've simply happened to acquire at once. In other words, it's not just link acquisition, it's link acquisition that's reflective of legitimate partnerships.
2. I don't feel like 50 websites is all that much to get links from in a short period of time. Especially legitimate websites such as newspapers, etc. All this means is that your site is moving up as an authority. What's wrong with that?
IMO spreading out the links to "simulate" natural linking is a bit odd - because in this case, the "natural" thing to do is add them immediately. These aren't paid for links & they aren't SPAM links. They're reflective of your legitimate growth.
Not all natural linking has to be spread out IMO. In this case that would be the "unnatural" thing to do. The only real reason IMO to spread links out on purpose is not to get caught doing it. But you're not doing anything like that here.
I say just go for it. But that's just my two cents, not a guarantee.
How exactly will these links be added and where?
-
That way it's ok!
You see, Google doesn't like who buys or make some blackhat and unnatural growth.
So, if you can make this growth in a organic look, it's everything gonna be fine!
It's answered now?
; )

Thank-you. To answer your question, yes, all will be pointing to our homepage. At least, that is what we planned. So, if I understand you correctly, if we spread out the links from these sites over the course of 6 weeks and planned to do roughly 8 per week -- 1-2 per day, staggered -- then all should be OK? Thanks!

Hello Matt!
I see two situations here.
-
If they are linking to different URLs, like different articles and things, there will be no problem at all.
-
If they link only to your homepage, you should be more carefull, and get those links in a bigger time.
Resuming and being more pragmatical : In the first situation, maybe in two weeks it's a good time for it, but try to spread the linking on the more days you can. For the second, maybe a month, and spreading the days of linking you.
Helped you?

GWT Lists URLs with links to my site, but those URLs don't have links to my site
There are a number of URLs that show up for my website in Webmaster Tools as having links to my site when in fact they don't. I know this to be a fact because I actually wrote some of the sites that Google is saying are linking to my site and I know there isn't any links on the specific pages to that site. For example, the site in question is: https://www.liftproducts.com/ As an example, Google is saying that about 100 URLs from https://www.lift-tables.net/ are linking to it when, I'm fairly confident that there is only 1 link to it found here: https://www.lift-tables.net/info.php?countrytabs=3 Yet Google says links exist on this (and many more) page: https://www.lift-tables.net/liftproducts/max-lift/lpt4w-030-48.php I thought at first it might have been due to linking to a image file directly instead of locally hosting it, but after checking the source, that's not the case. I am also seeing this type of non-linking being reported on sites I have no clue what they are. For example, some Spanish site about tandem bicycles is being listed as linking to liftproducts.com: http://206-225-85-34.dedicated.abac.net/tandem/inc Yet I can find no evidence of an actual link existing. Am I missing something here? Any insight of why this is happening and how I can clean up my link signature would be appreciated.

Footer Links And Link Juice
I'm starting to learn about link juice and notice in GWMT > Traffic > Internal Links, that the list is in this order by the links counted on each page. Some are in the footer and some are in the header, with some being more important than others commercially i.e. /register /privacy /terms /search /sitemap /disclaimer /blog /register So I am wondering if I should add a 'no-follow' attribute to the footer links i.e. privacy, terms, disclaimer and leave the others as they are? Does this help retain link juice on each page where the links appear? Or am I missing the point all together? This is my website: http://goo.gl/CN0e5

I need help finding a link building professional
I understand that some may respond to this question advising that we should concentrate on building good quality content, and eventually the links will come. And I do agree. The problem is that while we are implementing a content strategy and we're absolutely focused on creating unique, quality content for our audience, we're also a brand new business with a current grand total of (wait for it...) - 4 back-links! So while we're devoting our efforts to create the most engaging content we can, we need to find someone that can help us build our back-link profile and help to promote our brand and content in the most legitimate way possible. Obviously typing "SEO" into Google is not necessarily the most effective way to find the right person for the job and I'm a bit apprehensive about posting ads on eLance, oDesk, etc Does anyone have any idea how we can find someone smart and highly experienced that understands the importance of doing this right? We are Australian based but they don't have to be local. Thanks in advance. Stu

How can a not so passionate subject get links? Need ideas?
Our client owns a very big pest control site. They are competing with pestmall, orkin, terminex to name a few. Almost all of there competitors are spamming like crazy. For some of their competitors it is working. They get natural links very slowly. Maybe 1 natural link every week. How can a not so passionate subject get links? Here was my ideas. Offer a tool to pest control sites for a link in return. The flaw is most pest control company owners are not tech savy and if they are they have hired it out. I just really need some ideas. Thank you.

Back Link: Is LinkedIn keywords in profile good Link building strategy?
I distribute industrial products B2B with e commerce. I have a personal profile on LinkedIn. I listed the products I sell and I could have all my partners and associates list my web site on their profiles. Do search engines review LinkedIn personal profiles or company profiles and is it a good marketing strategy to have my web site, keywords, and my two largest selling products on LinkedIn?

Link building for rankings VS Link building for relationships
A Big Shout To Everyone -- Good Morning and What's Up 🙂 As I read today through seomoz professional guide to link building and the section why link building matters and in addition to this a newsletter I received today that changed my whole thinking towards link building for rankings vs for relationships. It is already happening on social networks if you are active there, but what about on your website. What are your thoughts on the following ? Google's job is provide the most relevant results to surfers online, and looking the link profile of a site & the page itself is the key to determining which page to serve on plate to the surfers link query ! I think that we as webmasters have to ask ourselves what do we want to achieve with link building. To get quick traffic or build slow authority links, high rankings, lead generation, sales & other things here I may be missing etcccc Other Objective Networking & Relationship Building Alliances : What I discovered today is that building links for 1st page rankings are great and will provide me with steady traffic, but not all of it is targeted traffic, but what else can I do to bring targeted traffic and at the same time try to build alliances with other related non competing business owners online. The idea... is to apply old school networking / relationship building alliances to get targeted traffic to my site that can actually benefit from my services. How Do We Achieve This I become a editor for approving resource links for me site, only the best will be placed on my site as a resource. Build a valuable tightly themed categorized resource section with related non competing resources that can help my sites visitors find what they are looking for, send visitors to non competing resources that may purchase their services which helps me build a relationship with them, and may can with rankings as well, provided I am selective with my qualification process. Questions & Concerns Below : What should I be thinking about when creating a resource categorized links page How many outgoing do follow links should I allow from this links partner page How will this links resource page affect my own SE 1st Page Rankings and is it worth it based on getting targeted traffic Any pros / cons I may be missing here0
