Does the traffic that a page get affects the page ranking?
-
I am asking this as I would like to know if we can include this advice in our Search strategy. For instance, can we say for the keywords that has high business priority, but we are not currently rank above the fold we can boost the traffic and therefore the organic ranking by investing on these keywords on PPC.
-
Yes, the traffic that a page receives can indeed affect its page ranking in search engine results. Search engines like Google use a variety of factors to determine the relevance and authority of a webpage, and user traffic is one of those factors. When a page receives a high volume of traffic, it suggests to search engines that the content is valuable and relevant to users. As a result, the page may be rewarded with a higher ranking in search results.
However, it's important to note that traffic is just one of many factors that influence page ranking. Other factors such as the quality of the content, backlinks from authoritative websites, mobile-friendliness, page load speed, and user engagement also play a significant role.
Regarding the project "los 10 mejores casinos online" during the time you worked on it, the success of the project likely depended on various factors, including the quality of the resource, the relevance of the content, the user experience, and possibly the competition in the online casino industry. While traffic is important for visibility and potentially higher rankings, it's not the sole determinant. A high-quality resource with valuable information and a positive user experience can attract both traffic and positive recognition from search engines, ultimately contributing to the success of the project.

Thumbs up, checking Ad Rank is for relevancy is a pretty cool idea - thanks for reminding me there's a whole other world out there besides SEO!

There's some good discussion above and interesting ideas but ultimately none of us can know or confirm this 100%.
There is a general idea that links are only valuable if they drive traffic.
An extension of this idea comes from the notion that "drive traffic" means, the page or site in question receives organic visits.
The best way Google could guess this without "cheating" is through CTR and average position.
So if you have a link from a page which has zero visibility across keyword group or low rankings, it's fair to assume it gets no traffic.
If it has no traffic, Google probably deems it less valuable...
...and thus you could argue this means that "yes, the traffic a page gets affects the page ranking" indirectly.
It could also be seen as chicken/egg in terms of the page itself becoming "stronger" having received organic traffic.
/My rambling thoughts,
Nick

Very helpful answer.
I recently had a training on Digital marketing and they mentioned that what affect your page ranking is:
1. Quality of the site: Load time, UX
2. Trustworthiness: Backlinks from trustworthy sites
3. Popularity: Site's traffic & Page visits
4. Authority: Combined measure of Trustworthiness and Popularity
Now it is clear to me that this is meant to page visits from organic traffic.

Not traffic on its own. CTR and low bounce have been demonstrated to have an impact, but that's traffic and behaviour from organic results, not PPC.
-
Thanks for your answer.
I thought traffic affects the page ranking. The more popular the page (more traffic), the higher will be in SERP. Therefore if we want to improve the ranking of a page to bring more traffic through PPC will have a positive impact on the Organic page ranking. Any thoughts on this?

Answering your question title directly, ignoring your PPC extension. The traffic a page gets organically can affect rankings. People have carried out research in the past that demonstrates that CTR and bounce rate can affect future rankings. That said, Google may have adjusted that out now that people are aware as it could potentially be manipulated...
-
An interesting question...
Directly, no, Google state that PPC spend won't affect rankings. However, it's an interesting concept, if Google knows that a term you are using as a PPC keyword is driving traffic with a low bounce rate, that would indicate the page is relevant... therefore should it not rank more highly organically... who knows... Even if it has an impact, I wouldn't expect it to high up the list, so I wouldn't include those pages/terms purely for that reason.
That said, Google Ads can give you some useful insight into Google's opinion of your pages for specific keywords. If your Ad Rank is low for a page/keyword combination, then it is unlikely to rank well organically. You can look at "Landing Page Experience" and to a lesser extent "Expected CTR" to get an idea of which areas to target, improving those metrics on Ads could, based on the actions you would have likely had to have taken, improve your chances organically too.

Two major pages ranking for the same keyword phrase
Hola all, So I'm having an issue where I have two important pages (homepage and page that lists products) that seemingly take turns ranking for an important keyword phrase. One day the homepage is in the top 20, one day the other, one day neither. And it's gone on like this for a couple of months. Both are optimized for keyword phrases that contain a shorter keyword phrase. So for example, let's say the homepage is optimized for: "Get paid to take polls" and the other page is optimized for "Earn cash for paid polls and more." Both contain: "paid polls." Is there cannibalization happening here? Should I completely remove "paid polls" from one keyword phrase? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Roman

Which page is currently ranking the best for a particular keyword?
Hi Guys! I have approx. 50 keywords that I'm tracking for a website that has about 80 pages. I am wondering is there any way that I can find out which page on the site is currently ranking best for each of the keywords on my list? Ideally I would like to export the entire list with the keyword in the first column and the page that ranks best on the website for each given keyword, in the second column. Apologies if the wording of this post is confusing - I am not quite sure how to make it clearer. The aim of my task is to determine which keywords should be allocated to each page on the site so I need to work out which keywords are working already for certain pages so that I don't take those efforts away from the well-optimised pages. Many thanks! Meaghan

Google ranks better apps over articles
Hello, On my quest to recover from Goolge´s updates I found out that the serps show apps and software downloads ranking better than content (articles or similar) for one of my most popular keywords. When the ads above the fold update hit my site (I can only assume that because of the date) I lost about 50% of my traffic). This keyword dopped from the first or second position to a steady fifth or sixth page position. Today, I was trying to research which sites outranked me and to my surprise no result in the first 15 position was an article, just apps and software downloads. It is not that is wrong. Let´s say that we are talking about an area similar to instagram software (although it doesn´t rank in this keyword). I´m not asking about my site. I simply want to know if the web apps (social sites) and mobile apps are taking over the content in serps. Is it that now you can´t go for a high place in the rankings (for certain keywords) if you are not a social site or an app? Thanks!

International Keyword Ranking
I want measure my ranking for keywords in various countries and search engines. If I use a tool such as rank checker to determine my rank for google.uk, google.au.com, etc... is that accurate, or does my IP still affect the rankings I see? If I use a VPS such as Hide My Ass (or another product you would recommend), would that make my ranking results more accurate? I also want to measure my ranking in Russia, where Yandex is very strong so a tool to measure my Yandex ranking + Google would be ideal. What method you would recommend to accurately determine my rankings in different countries? Thank you!

So if you rank well for the long tail, does that help your ranking for the short tail?
So say for instance you rank well in "online medical billing software." Does that help or influence your rank for derivatives of it (eg: "medical billing," "billing software," or "online medical billing")?

My site fell off the serps for two keywords I tried to optimize the home page for
I was doing some keyword research about 45 days ago and stumbled across two keywords that I was ranking in the mid hundreds and decided I wanted to see if I could rank them. I went in and changed my title to my blog, and the description. Then about a week later I changed my mind and wanted to go for two other keywords so I changed it again. Then within a day or two, my site completely fell off the serps for those two key words that I changed the title to optimize for. None of my other rankings were effected for any of the other keywords, in fact most of my keywords have risen because of recent backlinking. I thought it was just a temporary google bounce because I was playing with my title of my blog or something, but after almost two months I am still nowhere to be found for words that I should easily at least be in the top 1000, especially because I was at about 150 by accident. Anyone have any ideas on what might have happened? Thanks.

Using keywords targeted on one page, on another page?
This has been bugging me for awhile. I am trying to build up some great evergreen/cornerstone content for my site. It's basic stuff that just needs to be there. This problem is affecting me already, and I fear that when I get the main content done I will run into the problem when I start blogging for fresh content. The best way to explain this, is to use an example. Imagine a Jewelry store in a major metro. They are already ranking for a few "city + keyword" combos but are looking to expand their keyword reach and get some better rankings. They might have a page on diamonds, and target "city + diamonds." Then, lets say they are writing about Jewelry and you target a page on "city + jewelry" and on this page, it can be hard to write normal sounding content without saying diamond. AKA "We make shopping for "city + jewelry" super easy. You select a diamond, select your "setting, city + jewelry, or something"" What I would like to know, is if I should go crazy with the targeting and just write about "city + jewelry" on one page, for instance, and make sure not to just mention "diamond" and then make a sub-page or something to target "city + diamond + jewelry" Does any of that make sense? Edit for clarity - targeted keyword phrases bolded - I left my ramble above for historical and comedic purposes. It is hard to talk about jewelry without including some really (basic terms/keywords) that I am targeting on other pages. Is this going to be a problem? I might have a page on engagement rings, and another on diamonds probably targeted to the local area. Later, I might decide to write a blog titled "10 Reasons you need to buy an Engagement Ring" Should I alter that blog to be called "10 Reasons you need to buy a Diamond Engagement Ring" and try not to mention just the word diamond(s) or engagement ring(s) so that I don't confuse the almighty Google? Please advise
