Establishing Authorship
-
Considering Google's renewed emphasis on E-A-T, and since Google+ authorship is going away, what is the best practice for establishing authorship of content?
Is it still rel="author" but with a link to one's bio on one's website?
Should this be done on every page of a site? If so, can it be in the footer or would it be more effective immediately below the page content?

Dr. Egol - thank you for the thoughtful answer. I'll give it a try!

Just saying what appears to work well here...
At the top of each article, immediately under the title, give author attribution such as:
Author: Dr. Jonathan Egol, D.M.D., MAGD.
The author's name and credentials, if any, are displayed, and the name of the author hyperlinked to a biographical page about the author on the same website. The hyperlink is coded as <a rel="author" href="https://etc....
The biographical page contains a few sentences that hit the most important credentials and experience of the author, in a professional tone rather than braggadocio. (this paragraph is meant for search engines, but also visitors who want to know about the author - this is visitor friendly language and information) That is followed by details of the author's education, work experience, publications, awards, etc. -- this is listed much the same as what you place on a resume or curriculum vitae.
The biographical page might contain hyperlinks to other pages on the web that give important credentials about the author. These pages are where third parties have essentially vouched for the author. These might be: A) a profile article about the author in a medical journal; B) a google scholar page for the author; C) an article in a professional publication about the author's receipt of an award; D) a page about the author in wikipedia; E) links to government registration pages to prove official licenses; F) links to organization websites that show the author as a trustee, board member, etc. G) profile pages for the author on other websites that list his publications there.
If the person does not have these third-party vouchings, a paragraph explaining years of experience, relevant education, relevant licenses/certifications, areas of expertise, etc.
All of this is followed by a bibliography of the author's most important or most popular articles, with hyperlinks to where they can be found on the web.

Blogpost Authorship. Should we give credits or not?
We have been paying for getting the content written from writers. Is it a good move to give authorship to writers for writing the articles in terms of SEO. Some writers now have started to demand for authorship from the articles they have written. Should I give them authorship credits from each & every blog post they have written or it will be just a bad move to do so?

"Hot Desk" type office space to establish addresses in multiple locations
Hello Mozzers, I'm noticing increasing numbers of clients' competitors getting physical addresses and phone numbers in multiple locations, no doubt partly for SEO purposes. These are little more than ghost presences (in hot desk style office space) and the phone numbers are simply diverted. Do such physical addresses put them at an SEO advantage (over and above those who don't have hot desk style space and location phone numbers). Or does Google weed out hot desk type office spaces where they can? Your thoughts/experience would be very welcome! Thanks in advance, Luke

Google Authorship: Having others write content and authorship link to/from G+ profiles Impact Ranking?
Hi all! I am considering having several others write content for a new website and authorship link each to/from G+ profiles. Any idea of how that will Impact page/website ranking? I would think it would give more credibility to each page, and the website as a whole. No?

Google Plus Authorship
Situation Description: I have a website called Website A. I wish to migrate alot of the content from Website A to Website B. Website B will be on a completely different domain name and environment. Authors of Website A will act as contributing authors for Website B. It is also possible that other contributing authors of other websites C and D commit to writing content on Website B. Questions (1) Does it make sense to create a google plus profile under UserA@websiteA.com and link from content on websiteB to their google plus profile under UserA@websiteA.com? (2) Does AuthorRank affect PageRank? If yes, if I take the above approach would websiteA be effected or websiteB since the content writers of websiteA are contributing to websiteB? (3) Is it ok for userA to have a corporate google plus profile assuming he might also have another google plus profile under a different address? I always think it make sense that there exists a google plus profile at an employee level and another google plus profile at a personal level. (4) If an employee leaves the company, do I leave his/hers Google Plus profile alive? The fact that no more content would be published under that particular profile, would that negatively effect author rank over time? (5) Another interesting observation is that UsaToday, CNN etc do not use authorship? No authors link to their twitter profile or google plus profile. Shouln't they be doing this in terms of author rank or is author rank not that important? Thank you

What happens when I redirect an entire site to an established page on another site?
Hi There, I have a website which is dedicated to selling ONE product (in different forms) or my main brand site. It is branded similarly, targets similar keywords, and gets some traffic which convert to leads. Additionally, the auxiliary site has a Google Rank 2 in its own right. I am thinking of consolidating this "auxillary" site to the specific product page on my main site. The reason I am considering doing this is to give a "boost" to the main product page on our main site which has many core keywords sitting with SERP ranking of between 11-20 (so not in first 10) Because this auxiliary site it gets traffic and leads in its own right, I don't want this to be to the detriment of my leads overall. Question is - if I 301 redirect the entire domain from my auxillary site to the equivalent product on my main site am I likely to see a large "boost" to that product page? (i.e. will I likely see my ranking rise from 11 - 20 significantly)

How to Best Establish Ownership when Content is Duplicated?
A client (Website A) has allowed one of their franchisees to use some of the content from their site on the franchisee site (Website B). This franchisee lifted the content word for word, so - my question is how to best establish that Website A is the original author? Since there is a business relationship between the two sites, I'm thinking of requiring Website B to add a rel=canonical tag to each page using the duplicated content and referencing the original URL on site A. Will that work, or is there a better solution? This content is primarily informational product content (not blog posts or articles), so I'm thinking rel=author may not be appropriate.

How is Google choosing which authorship profiles to display?
Does any one know how you can try to make authorship profiles show in SERPs other than just making sure the profiles were installed correctly?
