Canonical Homepage Multi-language Website

Hello,
Our development department is building a multi-language webshop.
Due to the multi-language module that they've used, we have example.com and example.com/nl having exactly the same content.In order to avoid duplicate content, those pages have the following canonicals:
1. example.com -> Canonical to example.com/nl
2. example.com/nl -> Canonical to example.com/nlDo I loose SEO-value by not canonicalising directly to the root-domain homepage (example.com)?

You should only need example.com -> Canonical to example.com/nl

Is your content in Dutch? If it is and / and /nl are the same, why not redirect /nl to /?

You don't need to change canonical for both sites. You should use simply like this -
1. example.com -> Canonical to example.com
2. example.com/nl -> Canonical to example.com/nlBut you need to add alternate tags for all language sites.

Will I have duplicate content on my own website?
Hello Moz community, We are an agency providing services to various industries, and among them the hair salon industry. On our website, we have our different service pages in the main menu, as usual. These service pages are general information and apply to any industry.We also have a page on the website that is only intended for the hair salon industry. On this page, we would like to link new service pages: they will be the same services as our “general” services, but specialized for hair salons. My questions relate to duplicate content: Do we have to make the new individual service pages for hair salons with completely different text, even though it’s the same service, in order to avoid having duplicate content? Can we just change a few words from the “general service” page to specifically target hair salons, and somehow avoid Google seeing it as duplicate content? Instructional Videos on Separate Websites
Am I doing this correctly? We have 3 websites and shoot a lot of instructional videos on how to use our products. I build a webpage for the video and put it on all three websites, using rel="canonical" on 2 of the videos pages, pointing to the single most important page, is this the right method? TY

How Good or Bad is having a blog feed(s) on the homepage?
Hello everyone, I was wondering if I can get some different opinion about having a blog feed on the homepage. Image, title, excerpt I have several feeds on mine which I do not believe it hurts and has helped my rankings but I wanted some superior SEO brains to weigh in. https://www.brightvessel.com Is it good for SEO? When would it be bad? How many posts would be considered too much? On my blog, have the most recent posts which have some of the same feeds. Homepage Keywords for a Client with Multiple Services
We have a local client who services are very broad and there is no one service, i.e. keyword or keyword phrase, that covers all that they do. This is making it very challenging to select keywords to optimize the homepage for. Basically they do everything from engineering, surveying, planning, environmental, etc. We were thinking we would focus mainly on their most important service which is engineering and then use the other services as supporting phrases. However, this feels very diluted and there will be pages on the site for each of these services where the keywords will be targeted. Any thoughts or recommendations for this type of situation?

Keyword placement on home page or throughout the website
OK, I find the courage to ask this because there is not supposed to be a dumb question. Like all of us, I want my website to rank great with a particular keyword. Do I have to use this keyword only on my home page (the start page which I want to appear on top Google results), or does it make a difference if I use the keyword on several articles that I post on my website. These articles all have seperate links. Eg i want the www.website.com to be found by Google, but this website contains www.website.com/link1.html, www.website.com/link2.html.. etc. Will keyword usage on link1.html, link2.html etc be relevant so that www.website.com is found by Google? Or is every single page for itself? Hope I have explained that well and I would really appreciate your feedback.

I need quality backlinks. Do they need to be similar to company website?
Our website seems to be well optimized. However I need to find more quality backlinks. I am having a hard time with this. Do backlinks have to related to the company? The reason I ask is because I can receive some links, but they do not relate to our company. BUT sometimes we have customers come to our facility and we book them a local hotel room and send them to near by restaurants. Is it ok to have local restaurants and local hotels links on our website and have them link to ours, on a page for customer visits. OR any other tips on receiving quality backlinks?
