Hi there,
Sam from Moz's Help Team here!
So, it's not necessarily that one tool is more accurate than the other but rather that one tool may have more data at the moment.
In regards to Link Explorer (and the data shown in Mozbar), newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 1-3 days, however there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we add new data to our index everyday but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more.
If you are not seeing links or linking domains that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index.
You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages.
I hope this helps — let me know if you have any further questions!

I have used a variety of backlink checkers over the years and I have found that Ahref has a little more power to it then other backlink checkers. At least in terms of ferreting out the most number of backlinks. Moz's link explorer might be better in other ways. I use Majestic SEO myself.

The New Link Explorer (which will replace Open Site Explorer) is Now in Beta
Howdy Moz friends, Today, the Moz team is making a new tool -- Link Explorer -- available in private beta for Moz Pro subscribers (including those taking a free trial). The tool is still a little ways out from public launch, but we wanted to get your feedback to help make it the best product it can be. What's Link Explorer? In essence, it's a replacement for Open Site Explorer (Moz's tool for link discovery, competitive analysis, and link building) that addresses many of its most pernicious challenges, such as: Daily updates - no longer will you need to wait a month or two to see a new DA score or the links you built last week. Link Explorer updates every 24 hours with all the new links we've discovered that day, and gives a new DA score each night. A MUCH bigger index - OSE has always been known for having quality links, but quantity has been an issue. No longer. The new tool's link index is more than 20 times larger than Open Site Explorer's, covering trillions of links across hundreds of billions of pages, while maintaining a focus on high quality domains and pages. Additional functionality - new graphs (like link growth over time), new charts (like gained+lost links), new filters and sorts, and some new kinds of data coming soon. Improved metrics - Domain Authority and Page Authority have both been upgraded to have better correlations with Google's rankings (and they now update every 24 hours) Insanely fast - page load times on the new tool are almost as fast as Google's results 🙂 Less time waiting means more time to dig into results Link Tracking Lists - check a box next to any links of interest and you can build lists in the tool to track them over time, see whether/when they link, prioritize your outreach efforts, and (in the future) get aggregated data and alerts about those links There's much more to come, but we'd love for you to check out Link Explorer, find bugs, report things you love (and don't), and help us make it the best possible product for you and your teams. You can leave feedback here in this Q+A thread, email help@moz.com, or send feedback through the feedback form in Link Explorer.

Bulk Import on Open Site Explorer
Hi guys, Is there a way to upload multiple domains/pages into Open Site Explorer in order to get DA, PA and Spam Score rather than a manual approach?

[URGENT] Domain Authority drops from 25 to 1
Hello, We have about 9 websites connected to moz. We frequently are checking reports and crawls. From November 24 to December 18th there was a dramatic drop from 25 to 1 one only one of our sites. Our Linking C-Blocks went from 2 to 0, Domain MozRank went from 3.75 to zero. Essentially everything that we have worked for and ranked in for the past 5 years of the website being live dropped to zero. We are extremely frustrated and we are doing everything out of our power to figure out what may have happened. Here are a few things that we have done in that time and we are hoping someone might be able to direct us in the right direction on what may be the issue. We are in the process of pushing our new website. We have added our new website to a site_root_2 directory. In this directory we have robots no follow metas and a robots.txt. We do this prior to pushing our new websites. We move our website to the root when it is done. We have also forced all our urls to https. If anyone could help us get to the bottom of this issue we would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Page Authority = 1 of linking page?
I am trying to determine if any of our PR services or inbound links are hurting our SEO. To do this I am using the Open Site Explorer tool and checking some of the URL's that link to us. While doing this I found a page that has a Page authority of 1/100 most other links have a decent authority...does this score mean this page has been penalized by Google? If not what else could a 1/100 mean?

Why are no-follow links in my blog comments across the web showing up as "equity-passing"?
When I make comments on blog posts (and there's a link in my comment or my name is the link to my site), the links are always no-follow (as they should be). But, when I check Open Site Explorer, the new links show up as equity-passing. Are they actually passing equity or is this a mistake?
