Parent pages : Duplicate content

Hello,
I think this question relates to "Parent pages" structure or SILO but I couldn't find an answer online.
For a website that sell products, for example "Appliances". A link to this page appears in 1 category of the menu named "kitchen" but also in another 1 category named "household appliances".
It means that it appears twice in the menu but with a unique URL.
Would that affect SEO ? Is it duplicate content ? And would it be better to choose 1 father or let it that way ?

Yes that was the question, thank you.
It is correct that for example 1 sub-category with the exact same list of products appears in 2 differents categories (but with a unique URL).
So as you say in the second part of your first paragraph I should merge them or 301 redirect one of the categories to the other.If I understood your answer right, would it be better to choose 1 category (let's call it category1) as a "father" for this sub-category ?
And maybe create a 301 redirection link for this sub-category that would be present in the second category (category2) ?Thank you,

Hopefully, I understood the question right.
You don't get duplicate content for the product if the product is located on two different pages (categories), as you are just linking from 2 different sources while the content of the product is unique. You do get duplicate content for the category, however, if all the products in both categories are the same, in which case there is no point in having both categories so you just merge them or 301 redirect one of the categories to the other.
You can get duplicate content if there are tags that have the same posts as categories. Many people no-index the tags entirely, but depending on the site you may watch out so that they don't contain the same products(posts), or just 301 redirect from the tag to the category.

Should my backlinks point to my home page or to internal article pages?
Hi, I run a fitness blog and I get the majority of my backlinks through guest posts that I write on high quality sites. Sometimes they allow me to put a backlink within the article, and I'll link it to a relevant article of mine. However, in the "author bio" section my backlink anchor text is usually just my brand name. Homepage Vs. Inner Page Backlink Building?
If I'm trying to rank multiple inner pages, when does strengthening the homepage become more productive than strengthening the inner pages themselves? Is there a strategy to this? For example, maybe you build up a few dozen backlinks to each inner page, and then focus all your efforts on the homepage? Because, from my understanding, strengthening the homepage will go a long way towards helping your inner pages rank. Is that correct?

Content - Onsite Blog vs Article Submission
Hey Folks, First post! I have a 4 year old site with reasonable authority (49) and lots of content. Easy first question. I plan to create lots more unique, useful and relevant content however I'm in a quandary as to whether to: A. Post the content on our sites blog or B. Does the root domain hold more power then an inner page?
Question, Lets say a new domain is launched, the root domain and an inner page target the same term. Google comes along for the first time and indexes the website. Does it see the target term on the homepage as more important then the inner page because you are putting it on the root? I get the feeling terms connected directly with the root domain have a better chance of ranking then the term being on a inner page. Any thoughts on this?

How does Google treat multiple backlinks on the same page?
Hello mozCrew Just a quick yay or nay. We have an embeddable code on our site for customers who want to post our link on their website listed here: http://www.accupos.com/etc/embed-code-restaurants.php But in our link, there are actually 2 separate links, one branding link that says the name of our company, AccuPOS, and another link which targets a specific target keyword "Restaurant POS Software". My question is, does Google only give credit for the branding link, since it is listed FIRST? Or will we get double credit? Is this a good or bad practice, and what would you recommend? Thank you! Hello there, I have two questions. 1. I want to ad seo text in content toggles, tabs and accordions. does Google robots view as seo text , eg, H1 text as it would be written direct on the page? 2. About Pinguin and link building. I am seeing up an onlineprintshop, where any industry can become a client. Lets say a medical company will be our client for prints.
