Documenting keyword research results
-
I really struggle to document my keyword research results in a usable way. I know the strategy for finding keywords but I wonder if there's a spreadsheet template or some guidance on the process that could help me organise things better
-
Thank you, that was helpful, I'll certainly make use of that.

It really depends what the use-case of your keyword research is. Maybe it's to inform what types of websites you will gain links or editorial placements on / from. Maybe it's to inform which content, that doesn't exist now (on your or your client's site) should be created. Maybe it's to inform the tweaking of content or Meta data on existing pages
What you really need is a spreadsheet that lists and groups all the keywords (along with search volumes, your search rankings and the search rankings of some key competitors). You need to work out where you have strong visibility already, where you are weak or average (in terms of rankings or KG panel placements). Once that's done, you can begin having ideas (e.g: "we're ranking at 67 for this keyword, but our competitor is #3 and also holds the knowledge graph panel. I notice that we have placed the keyword on a page which is really about something else, whilst our competitor has a dedicated URL and some great content for this keyword. We should do something similar, but even better - here is my plan...")
You can add your ideas per keyword (or per keyword group, if you assign each keyword a thematic group in your spreadsheet) into a new column. Once your sheet is finished, you can create an actions summary. Some stuff you can do, some stuff that may require design / dev support (like building a micro-site for careers at your company, or something). If you work on behalf of clients, some actions may be for the client (e.g: "send us more business-insider info and stats on X topic, so we can create a page or sub-site about it")
Once you have your actions list, deliver it to your audience (internal or external) via a simple email or a PowerPoint presentation - if some of your ideas are larger and need supporting diagrams

Keyword Analysis Tool
Can someone please enlighten me on the Keyword Analysis tool Matrix. Does Domain Linking refer to the number of links back to that domain as a whole? Also why is it that a page with a lower page ranking can be way ahead of one with a domain ranking that is way higher or vice-a -versa? What is a good number to go after? what is actually attainable? Thanks

How to improve keyword rank
Hello, I have made some changes to my site within the last 1 1/2 months and have not seen my keyword ranking improve whatsoever; however, my page rank has gone up. I have made all the changes that my campaign suggested, and yet there is still no change to my keyword rank. Please advise me on what I'm doing incorrectly or what I should change. Thank you

Best Keyword Research Tool
Can anyone please recommend the best keyword research tools available, we specialise in the travel industry and struggle to find new keywords as the more niche ones always show no traffic searches in the google keyword tool so it is really difficult to make a judgement. We know from google analytics that some niche keywords really are useless and while they are no. 1 they generate no traffic. I hope you can help Thanks! Andy

Tittle + keywords = ?
Hi everyone so it's time for a refresh. I want to improve my rank for couple of terms on one page, so whats you recommend me. Currently I am thinking to go with option 1 and be as much specific to my main keyword, but at the same time I am not sure if I'll be able to link well for my 2nd keywords. Option 1 Term 1, Term 2, Term 3 - they are more or less related Tittle: Term 1 and Term 2 and Term 3 Keywords: term 1, term 2, term 3 Meta description: Term 1, la lalal mama term 2, ta da da lalaaas term 3 or Option 2 Tittle: Term 1 Keywords: term 1, term 2, term 3 Meta description: Term 1, la lalal mama term 2, ta da da lalaaas term 3

Location-based Keyword Targeting
We are located in Denver, Colorado. I want the majority of the site to be focused on Denver keyword terms but I also think we should branch out to other cities around Denver, as well as around the keyword "Colorado." What's an appropriate way to do this? I've seen site that have a page for every city in the area but it looks terrible and doesn't really fit into the site. How do I cross link to these new city pages (I don't want them in the main navigation)?
