Seem to have dropped completely out of the rankings
-
Hello there,
I have a site that seems to have totally dropped out of the rankings i.e. it is now not even ranking for the name, at which it has been number 2 forever! In Moz Pro it is at 0% visibility and no keywords being ranked. No big changes in terms of the site, the pages appear to be being indexed and as far as I'm aware no dodgy backlinks.
The only change lately is that we have linked it to Google Console, added 2 content pages and done a Google Adwords campaign. These pages have been used as the landing pages for this campaign - could that have had this effect?
Could this be a RAG (Random Act of Google) or something else???
The site is homefarmlogs.co.uk. The is also a homefarmlogs.com - could this be causing a problem???
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Best wishes,
Sarah.

Hi Sarah,
Related to the hosting provider. It is not a very useful answer, but if the price is great... The important thing here is that you are fully aware of the issue now.
Due to your website is a - co.uk - somehow it "compensates" the hosting provider issue.
Regarding the Moz tool that I used - the greatest SEO tool for quick check - is the MozBar for Chrome. https://moz.com/products/pro/seo-toolbar
You have to be logged in and set up; choosing the "dark" option. Some WP themes offer advice on how to deal with the glitches. You can use the WP website for contact, close to the review option.
About SEO Consultancy, yes, I do.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Did you set up your Google My Business profile? https://support.google.com/business/answer/2911778/ Miariam's article is a great guide for this: https://moz.com/blog/rank-beyond-location
-
Hi Veronica - thanks so much for your comprehensive response.
I have contacted hosting re the location and they said:
'The data center in which your website is hosted is located in London, UK. Our Head Quarters are located in Bulgaria and the IP network is owned by us so it may show the owner to be in Bulgaria in some checkers. However, the server is located in the UK.'
What do you think? Does this sound credible? I'm not overly impressed with them tbh but I can't face moving all my sites!
I also submitted a whole new sitemap following the https change but you are right - the homepage wasn't being indexed. It seems there was a soft 404 and when I went on to the site it looks like someone had inadvertently removed a section which meant there was barely any content. So I have replaced it and asked Google to reindex it. I think this has improved the speed issue as well.
The only issue I see now is that for some reason it doesn't see the mobile version in the same way it loads... any ideas?
Re the meta descriptions I'm wondering if the theme is also trying to add meta tags. I will take a look at this. How did you get that Moz report btw?
Also do you do any SEO consultancy?
Best wishes,
Sarah.

Hi Sarah,
-
I can see a few issues. First, if you check in Google
" site:homefarmlogs.co.uk " the website is there, but not the homepage. -
Did you include the new website, i. e. after the migration from http to https into Google Search Console? Also, check into the GSC if you have a manual penalisation.
-
I can see multiple meta descriptions. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Vvsh9BdiG5NsOZaXY0tgdSgvUa1KQ_04/view?usp=sharing
-
Maybe, you might use the Yoast plugin for write down the meta tags and the images alt tags.
-
The website appears located in Roumania, you might need to contact your host provider.
-
The speed of the homepage is over 3 sec. Into Google Search Console you will find accurate data on that regard.
Hope these helps. Good luck!

Strange rankings on new website
HI All My website is 10 years old, and has decent rankings. The domain is www.advanced-driving.co.uk I have recently had a major overhaul of the site, before it was very outdated, with lots of duplicated content. My main keywords are "advanced driving course" and "advanced driving courses" both of which I am on page 1. However, since I have been live with new site - (5 days) I am not ranking for some easy win keywords. I have submitted new content thought webmaster tools, and whilst some content is ranking, others are not. The content not ranking is fresh and unique ( have used copyscape on all new pages). For example my homepage is on page 1 for "advanced driving courses london" - around rank 6. So I hand made some content titled advanced driving courses london to provide more of an exact match, outlining our courses in London and the routes we take - http://www.advanced-driving.co.uk/defensive-advanced-driving-courses-london/ However, this page which is unique does not rank at all....I have done this with another website and it worked well, but google is not understanding this at all. Also I am now on page 1 for "advanced driving course" but not for "advanced driving courses" - well I am but the page for the plural keyword is a page not really related - surely Googles semantic search should realise course and courses are the same! I suspect that Google is still getting used to my new website? No errors or anything in Webmaster tools... Can anyone confirm this - or outline if I have done something awful..!! Thanks Rob

How to reverse declining Google rankings?
We have a long established business since 2004 and have been fortunate that having been one of the original companies in our industry, we have always enjoyed strong Google rankings. Unfortunately, these have been steadily declining over the past couple of years and a comparison of August to date against the equivalent period last year has seen a 20% drop in traffic from Google. We don't believe that it is being caused by a penalty and rather is the result of some strong players entering our market and tightening their focus which has caused us to take a dip in rankings. We are guilty of being complacent in our SEO - largely due to not knowing what to do and being scared to touch it when it was working in case we broke it! - but now it's time to fight back. We still have a strong site, good traffic levels and a strong product offering. We have knowledge of SEO and resources in house, but are not experts by any means. Our current plan is to: perform a technical site audit, fixing the issues highlighted by the Moz Pro Software put strong emphasis on our blog, writing daily about the latest news and events in our industry provide weekly content articles which are more in depth than the daily blog articles and which will be of interest to our community undertake surveys and publish infographics and statistics with the hope of being picked up in national newspapers Are there any key elements that we are missing out in this plan, or is that it in a nutshell? Any help and advice is greatly appreciated.

Ranking Above sub-domains
So I work for a company that has a very successful affiliate that operates under a third level domain name such as "region.company.com". Their SEO practices are very good and they rank highly in keyword searches. However "company.com" does not even though it is not a subdomain. Even after optimizing the company.com's pages etc, the regional sub domain ranks much higher for keywords and the main company fails to rank at all. Is Google discounting the main company's page? Is it a matter of trust or time? or is it something else? How can I get Google to prioritize the main company website rather than a lower level domain affiliate?

Ranking dropped off massively: 25 August
HI have been working on the site http://www.schoolguide.co.uk/ we had something odd happen around the 25 of August our ranking just tanked. Now there was no warning in webmaster tools. Moz weather forecast didn't show anything crazy. We didn't do anything major to site. The site lost pretty much all it's long tail ranking and about 5% of the indexed pages. What could cause this? The only thing of prominence we did was get a link from huffington post article. Thanks again everyone Ed

Drop in indexed pages!
Hi everybody! I've been working on http://thewilddeckcompany.co.uk/ for a little while now. Until recently, everything was great - good rankings for the key terms of 'bird hides' and 'pond dipping platforms'. However, rankings have tanked over the past few days. I can't point my finger at it yet, but a site:thewilddeckcompany.co.uk search shows only three pages have been indexed. There's only 10 on the site, and it was fine beforehand. Any advice would be much appreciated,

Sudden rankings drop for our most profitable keyword?
Hi, I was hoping you could help me with a troubling issue that has come up this week. We have consistently ranked in the top 3 for the keyword "grey goose glasses" for the last 12 months. We received 74 visits from this keyword from Dec 3 to Jan 3. For some reason on Jan 4th we dropped from the top 3 to somewhere around 40-70 and receive almost no traffic from this keyword an longer. The page that was ranking was http://thebottlemill.com/tbm/grey-goose-drinking-glass.html I have since changes a the Page title and URL with a 301 redirect and the H1 tag to be a better match but this was just done yesterday. We havent seemed to be effected like this on other keywords. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Ranking problems
Hi All My site is live for a year now. I;m getting tons of traffic (alexa 54k) and business are good. The only problem is that I have 0 page rank....I have checked again and again the site;s structure to see if there is anything wrong with the site but everything seems to be ok. Google just added search links to the site (megamoneygames) which looks very nice. For example, none of my competitors have search links but they all have page rank of 4 while I have 0. In addition, for some reason the site's age (days) shows 0 although it is live for a year now... Do you have any idea of what is going on? do I have errors in the site? Thanks
