Duplicate content? other issues? using vendor info when selling their prodcuts?
-
When building content for vendors that we sell their products? best practices? ok, to copy and paste "about us" info? or will that be flagged as duplicate content.
-
Thanks for the help guys.
I am actually taking about vendor info not products. Like about us and history and summary of services and products offered. I know unique content is always best practice. Main concern is accurate content without using lots of resources. As well as not get penalized by google for duplicate content.
thoughts?
If i copy and paste 'about us" from a vendor that we see their products. What are the issues??

So it's generally not a best practice but definitely more par for the course in the eComm world. It's not uncommon to see sites that strictly use descriptions scraped from manufacturer feeds.
Ideally, your pages will contain 100% unique content. If this isn't possible, I generally advise clients to do the following:
- Find dynamic ways of adding unique content (similar products, categories etc)
- Add review functionality: This creates unique UGC content
- Have a better product page UX than your competitors. Emphasize key information in the design and ensure that all information required to decide on a purchase is on the page.

I would say it all depends on how much content you are copying. I would say if 10% of the content you have on the page is copied content from the vendor and 90% is original, you should be fine.
You might also be able to further differentiate it but taking the copied content and putting it into your own words. I don't know what business you're in, but for example, take the approach that a sales person working for your company would take when talking about the products. How would they describe the company (vendor) that makes it and what buzzwords do you use to sell the product?

How to fix thin content issue?
Hello! I've checked my website via Moz and received "thin content" issue: "Your page is considered to have "thin content" if it has less than 50 words" But I definitely know that we have 5 text blocks with unique content, each block consist of more than 50 words. Do you have any ideas what may cause this issue? Thanks in advance, Yana

Page title contents
In my page title, I have my product name. Is it beneficial to also include another keyword like: Buy wedding dress online Australia: e..g. (page title) amelie wedding dress | buy wedding dress online Australia. Or is it better just using: Amelie wedding dress

Meta description tags & title tags duplicate content?
Although meta description tags have no impact on rankings - can there be a negative effect from having many duplicate meta title + description tags with just 1-2 words switched out?

Duplicate pages
Hi, I am using a CMS that generates dynamic urls that according to the SeoMoz tool will be indexed as duplicate pages. The pages in questions are forms, blog-posts etc. that are not crucial to achieve ranking for. I do worry though about the consequences of having 20 (non-duplicate)pages with static urls and about 100 pages that are duplicates with dynamic urls. What consequences will this have for the speed that the robots crawl the site and could there be negative effects on ranking for the entire domain?

Duplicate Content Question
On the home page of my site I have a read more link that takes you to a different URL with basically the same content, just more of it. Home Page: http://www.opwdecks.com/ Read More Link on Home Page: http://www.opwdecks.com/deckmaintain.htm I think this may be affecting my seo. Any suggestions on what I should do about this? Should I add a canonical to the home page and/or on the other page? Both pages are indexed by google. Thanks for any help or tips.
